Chapter 9: The Final Fight

“Everyone, the Koldryth beast is here!” I yelled out, hoping the others heard me. Soon after, everyone’s heads turned to the sky. “Tarquin, give me the Staff!” I shouted as he looked through his bag, pulled out the staff, and threw it at me.

“Thanks, Tarquin!” I yelled, putting it on my back. Tarquin and I then ran over to Varen and Hanako.

“Guys, I think I have a plan on how we can beat that thing!” I said, catching my breath from all the action. “What’s your plan, Kazz?” Varen asked as he looked around to make sure nothing came to attack us.

“So, here is how it goes: one of you, preferably Hanako, is going to distract the beast. Varen and Tarquin, you will be the main ones attacking its weak spots; this should weaken it. Lastly, I will use this staff to take the creature out. Got it?” I explained to the group. Everyone agreed with the plan, so that’s what we ended up doing.

“Alright, before we fight the beast, we should make sure no civilians are nearby. As well as that, we should clear the battlefield of the weaker creatures first,” I told the group as I readied my blade for combat.

My fists started to flame up again, and I felt a rush of energy. I then ran towards the first creature, stabbed its chest, and flipped behind it, slicing it straight in half. Two other creatures ran towards me, so I jumped into the air and then slammed right onto them both, creating a fiery explosion.

As I continued to run towards the Koldryth Beast, I noticed a large group of Koldryth spawn in front of me. I then jumped up and landed in the center of the group and lit them all on fire. I grabbed my sword and used it to finish them off.

Rushing towards the next group of Koldryth spawn, I quickly snapped my fingers and shot a volley of flames in their direction. One by one, they lit up into a ball of fire. I then grabbed my blade and sliced each of them into small pieces.

As the creature bodies began to burn to ashes, I swiftly made my way to yet another group. I noticed a bunch of normal spawn and one large one around three times my size. It had two large horns and strong armored skin with spikes across its spine.

I ran towards the creature and jumped into the air. Then, I lit up my blade and slammed down, sending waves of fire in each direction. The weaker creatures burned up; however, the larger Koldryth spawn seemed unfazed. Using prior knowledge, I decided to go for the nape of the neck. I attempted to dash behind it; however, as soon as I did, it dodged out of the way.

It then lunged at me and clawed at my face. “Damn it!” I yelled out as blood sprayed from my face. After a while of wrestling with the creature, I managed to get it off me. I then put back my blade and charged up a massive ball of flame. Once the flame got large enough, roughly a foot and a half long, I then shot it out at the creature.

The ball exploded into dozens of tiny flames; its power knocked both me and the creature back a few feet. The creature let out a massive roar and then rushed at me. I swiftly dashed out of the way and ran behind the monster. I then readied my blade and stabbed right through its neck. The creature then fell to the ground, and out came a pool of blood.

I noticed the others were doing fairly well. Most of the weaker monsters had been defeated. As I ran towards Tarquin and the others, I noticed that the Koldryth Beast was getting closer towards us. "Guys, It's time! Hanako, distract the thing! Tarquin, Varen, with me!" I yelled out as I ran towards the Koldryth Beast and pulled out my blade. The creature slammed down one of it's tendrils to attack me however I was abled to dodge out of it's way.

I then jumped onto the tendril and began to make my way onto the creature. While I was doing that, I noticed Varen and Tarquin pull out their weapons. Tarquin started by sending out a wave of small glowing blue crystals at the beast. He then signalled to Varen to attack the creature's eye.

I watched as Varen swiftly made his ways to the creatures head. As he readied his blade, the creature attempted to through him off. It grabbed Varen with one of it's tendrils and began to crush him. "Varen!" I yelled out as I ran to where he was. I tried to get him out of the creatures grasp however it was no use. My magic did nothing to it.

"Varen, no!" I yeled out as I watched the creature tighten it's grasp. Blood started to pout out and onto the ground. I ran towards Varen however by the time I made it to him, it was too late. Varen was dead. "Damn it! Why the hell does this always happen! First Drakel, now you! I am gonna put a stop to this! No more death!" I yelled out as I grabbed my blade.

"Your gonna pay for that!" I said as I jammed my blade into the creatures eye. "Blood sprayed out and the creature began to shriek. It then attempted to grab me however I was able to escape. I then made my way to it's other weak spot. It had 4 major weak spots: it's eye, behind it's head, and underneath a massive scale behind it's two largest tendrils. I made my way to the back of it's head however it was protected by two large tendrils.

"Damn it, it's protecting itself. I need to get rid of those tentacles." I said to myself as I made my way to the far left side of the creature. I managed to find the large scale that was protecting it's tendril. "Hanako! Distract the thing!" I yelled out at the top of my lungs so that she could hear me.

Soon after, the creature began to pay attention to her. I then was able to tear off the scale with my sword. I noticed a glowing red spot right underneath the scale. I then grabbed my blade and stabbed it through the spot. The tendril went limp and blood sprayyed out everywhere. The creature began to rage and it tried to throw me off.

Luckily for me, I was able to hold on. I slowly began to climb my way back to creatures neck. One of the tendrils was no longer defending it's weak spot. I then ran to the other side however noticed that there were koldryth spawn coming out of the creature, "The hell?" I said to myself. I then tried to light up my sword however my magic wasn't working.

"Fuck! Why isn't it working?" I yelled out as I dashed out of the way. I then readied my blade and ran towards the first one. I preformed a massive overhead strike however the creature blocked my attack. After that, it ran towards ne and knocked my blade out of my hands. I watched it fall off the beast and I was left only with my daggers.

I then grabbed both of my daggers and slid underneath the creature. Once I got up, I jammed one of my blades into the back of it's neck, killing it. I then picked up the body and threw it at another creature, sending it flying off the Koldryth Beast.

There were only three of them left. I then rushed towards the other three. I jumped into the air and landed right on top of on of the creatures. I then stabbed both blades into it and then kicked it off the edge. The last two both rushed at me so I dodged out of the way.

Then, I managed to get behind one of them and stab it's neck, killing it. As it's corpse fell to the ground, the second creature rushed to attack me. It jammed it's fist into my chest and I felt one of my ribs crack. "Fuck!" I yelled out as I began to cough up blood.

The spawn then ran at me again however I managed to trip the creature. As it fell onto the ground, I stabbed my dagger right through its head. I then got up and jammed my blade right through the back of it's neck.

I was finally able to destroy it's second tendril. I quickly made my way towards it's weak spot and tore off the scale. I readied both daggers and began to stab the weak spot. Blood began to pour out of it and the last of it's major tendrils were destroyed. Now, the back of it's head was unprotected.

As I made my way towards it, I felt my strength return to me. My hands began to light on fire and I shot out a massive arrow of fire straight at it's weak spot. "Take that you piece of shit!" I yelled out as the arrow exploded into a bunch of flames. The creatures shield was now gone and the real fight began. The creature then threw me off of it's back.

I tried to grab onto it however it was no use. In a last attempt effort, I created a small flaming shield to dampen the impact. Once I fell to the ground, I noticed the others were no longer in combat.

"Everyone, are you okay!?" I yelled out as I ran towards the group. "Yeah, but where's Varen?" Hanako asked me as we got behind cover. "Varen... Didn't make it. Let's make sure he didn't die in vain!" I yelled out as determination filled the air.

"By the way Kazz, I found your sword on the ground. Do you still have the staff?" Tarquin asked as he handed the sword to me. "Thanks, Tarquin, and yeah, it's still with me." I said as we went back into combat. We all readied our weapons and rushed towards the creature. We were going to win.

I then pulled out the staff and the crystal on the staf emit blue and orange flames. I readied the staff and pointed it at the beast. Then, a massive beam of blue fire shot out at the beast, it's power was so intense, it was begining to push me backwards.

The creature began to shirek in pain as the flames grew stronger. Then, a circle of blue and orange magic surrounded the staff. I then ran towards the creature and sent wave after wave of flaming magic at the creature. It started to slam down it's tendrils in an attempt to kill us.

It then slammed down it's tendril at Tarquin however he managed to dodge it's attack. He then shot a wave of ice at the tendrils and froze it in place. "Kazz, look out!" He yelled at me as a large tendril came slamming down at me. Before it could hit me, I shot a massive wave of flames at it and it came straight off.

Hanako then started to distract the creature away from attacking us. This allowed us to attack it from behind. Then, Taqruin told me to get on top of the creature. That way, I can destroy it once and for all.

As I grabbed onto the tendril, I began to climb up the creature's back. I then jammed the tip of the staff into the back of it's head. Them, I saw flames surround the creature and the staff began to glow an intense orange and cyan hue. The creature began to roar in pain. Then came a massive explosion of blue flames. The creature then let out on final shirek before falling to the ground.

The Koldryth Beast, has fallen. "We did it, we actually did it!" I yelled out as I raised my sword high into the air. "The Koldryth Beast is dead, and all thanks to you guys!"

"We need to head back to Othania! The people our waiting." Tarquin said as we made our way to Othania.
