" The f**k did you say?” Chris asked, gritting his teeth.

" Exactly what you heard. I am not going anywhere,” Adele said with determination.

" Can’t you listen to me for once?” Chris asked, frustrated.

" Even I am asking the same from you. We must get back to the pack and discuss this matter calmly,” Adele said.

Chris growled a little and then faced Archer. ” You tell me what happened here?”

Archer pointed towards Sera and said, ” This girl came here to harm you and your mate, so I was stopping her.”

" He’s lying. It’s him who is plotting against you,” Sera, who was hiding behind Adele, now screamed, glaring at Archer.

" Don’t trust her, Chris. She is worse than her mother and has an ulterior motive,” Archer said to Chris as he knew very well how to manipulate him.

Chris had no reason not to trust Archer, so he stared at Sera with hatred. ” Why are you here? Who sent you?”

" I-I came here for h-help,” Sera stuttered.

" Help? Huhhh! Do you think I am a fool? Stop with your nonsense and tell me the real reason why you are here?”

" I-I am not lying. I really need your help. M-My mother needs y-your help,” Sera pleaded almost in tears, and Adele felt bad for her.

" If you don’t want to admit it so easily, then I have my ways.” Chris sent a mind-link to his Gamma Trevor and asked him to immediately come to the pack border.

Trevor arrived there within five minutes, and Chris ordered him, ” Take this girl to the dungeon for interrogation.”

Sera was so scared she desperately held Adele’s arms and begged for help. Trevor approached Sera, but Adele stopped him. ” Back off! You can’t take her forcefully.”

" I am following the Alpha’s orders, Luna,” Trevor said mockingly.

" You cannot interfere in our pack matters,” Chris roared at Adele.

" I am the Luna of this Pack,” Adele screamed back.

Chris moved forward in anger to push Adele aside when his wolf Conan stopped him, " Be careful. She is our mate. Let me handle it.”

Adele saw Chris’s eye color changing from brown to black, and immediately Alexa took over. Before Conan could say anything, she blurted out, " Don’t even try. If you think my human is unreasonable, then let me tell you, it was me who suggested we listen to Sera first.”

“You don’t know about these witches. They cannot be trusted,” Conan said, trying to convince Alexa.

" I agree with you, but we must listen to what she has to say, then we can decide,” Alexa retaliated.

" You don’t know anything. I will never trust a witch.”

" Please give me one chance. After that, I won’t force you,” Alexa almost pleaded but was distracted when she heard her baby Iris crying.

Maria came running towards Adele, holding Iris in her arms. ” I was looking for you everywhere. ”

Adele cradled Iris in her arms and panicked when she saw her bleeding head. Chris lost his cool and growled, ” What happened to her?”

" S-She fell from the bed,” whispered Maria.

Iris and Ian were over a month old now. While Ian was the silent type, Iris was the complete opposite. She was very cranky and was never at peace.

Adele tried to soothe her baby when Chris shouted at Maria, ” Can’t you take care of a baby?”

Adele didn’t like Chris talking so rudely to Maria. ” It’s not her fault. Iris is very naughty.”

" You’re one to talk. Instead of taking care of the kids, you are busy indulging in the pack affairs. What kind of mother are you?”

Adele was furious at Chris’s words. ” Mind your words. Don’t accuse me without reason.”

" Oh, I have many reasons. You are nothing but a selfish and power-hungry woman who does not want to be a good mother and look after the kids; instead, you want to rule this pack and meddle in our affairs.”

" Shut the f**k up! Who the hell are you to judge me?”

" Your mate,” Chris sneered.

" Even if you are my mate, you don’t have the right to judge me as you have never acted as a true mate should,” Adele snapped.

Seeing that his Alpha and Luna were busy arguing, the Gamma took it as an opportunity. He covered Sera’s mouth with her hand and dragged her towards the dungeon.

Meanwhile, even Archer was looking around for a chance to take Sera away from here, but he cursed in his mind when he saw Trevor drag Sera inside. Now he had no other option but to act immediately. He took out his phone and secretly sent a message to someone, ” We have to do it tonight.”

Adele had taken Iris to the pack doctor, who applied the medicine and said the wound would heal in a few days. Later on, after feeding Iris and Ian, they fell asleep, and Adele decided to check on Sera.

Chris was busy talking to Archer in his room, so Adele took her chance and stole the dungeon keys from Chris’s office. She quietly went towards the dungeons, hiding from others. She sniffed Sera’s scent and found her in the last cell, sitting there crying quietly.

" Sera,” Adele whispered, and Sera flinched up in surprise.

As soon as Sera saw Adele, she was relieved. ” Ade, Thank God! Please, please get me out of here. I didn’t do anything wrong.”

" If you want me to trust you, then you have to tell me everything, ” Adele said with a straight face.

" I will tell you everything, Ade. What do you want to know?”

" First, let me confirm it. Are you Sybil’s daughter?”

“Yes.”

" Do you know about the moonstone and the evil witch?”

Sera took a deep breath but then looked straight at Adele and said, ” Yes, and I also know she can be free only by your mate’s blood.”

" Did you know it when I told you that Chris Black was my mate?” Adele asked.

" I have known it for years now. Fifteen years back, when I was six, my Mom and I were kidnapped by two vampires. They kept us locked up for months and tortured my mother for information regarding the Moonstone. My mother never wanted to help, but they threatened to kill me, so she had to,” Sera said, recalling the dark times which were still fresh in her mind even after so many years.

" I have heard about that, but I heard Chris’s father Shawn had helped you and your Mom escape from the vampires.”

" Yes, they did. And after that, my Mom and I went into hiding.”

Adele scrunched her eyebrows and remembered that Maria had told her about Clara meeting up with Sybil to perform the rituals and asked, ” But your Mom had helped Chris’s Mom to perform the rituals, which led to her getting manipulated by the evil witch.”

Sera looked down in shame. This was the one thing that her mother regretted the most. ” Y-Yes,” Sera stuttered. ” But she didn’t want to do it. She was forced.”

" How do I believe that?” Adele inquired.

" I don’t know how to make you believe me, but I have no reason to lie to you, Ade. After Chris’s father helped us, my mother thought we could be safe with our coven members who were well hidden. So we stayed with them for a few days. When the vile vampire Daniel couldn’t find us anywhere, he took my human Dad.” Sera recalled the day her Mom was so stressed when she heard her Dad was kidnapped. Sera’s Dad was a human who didn’t know that Sybil and Sera were witches. Sybil never thought her secret would be exposed in such a way.

" My Mom loved my Dad, so she approached Daniel asking him to release him. Daniel blackmailed her into helping him manipulate Clara, and she had no choice. My Mom saw Clara and Lea lose themselves each day and was filled with guilt. It broke her internally, and my Dad couldn’t see her doing it for his sake, so he sacrificed his life to save my Mom,” Sera said and burst into tears thinking about her Dad, whom she lost at such a young age.

Adele unlocked the cell door with the key and immediately hugged her friend, who was crying hysterically. Sera hugged her back and let out all the pain and agony she had been carrying in her heart for so many years. After a few minutes, Sera pulled back and wiped her tears. ” All my life, I have been living in hiding. After Dad’s death, Mom took me and fled the country. She was always scared we would be kidnapped again. We never stayed in one place for a long time. We avoided meeting new people and were always on alert. When I was 16, we returned as my Dad’s mother was ill, and she had no one to take care of.”

" My Mom was scared to stay here, so she sent me to Martial Arts training school where I met you. You are my first and only friend, Ade.”

Adele pondered over it for a few seconds, and then she suddenly remembered something. ” Why did you say that Archer wanted to kill me?”

" I am not sure, but I heard him talking to someone.”

” What? Whom?” Adele asked, intrigued.

" I had managed to escape from the room where I was locked. I was looking for my mother, and in one particular locked room, I heard Archer talking to a woman whose voice was very deep.”

" What did they say?” Adele guessed that deep voice must surely be Samara. No wonder Archer is associated with her; he was always too ambitious.

" They were talking about the upcoming Blood Moon,” Sera said.

Adele was confused. ” What were the exact words?”

Sera thought for a moment and said,” I heard the woman laugh and then say, ‘This time when I’m free, nobody means nobody can trap me again as the wolves who trapped me 1000 years ago are already dead.’ Then Archer said something, but I couldn’t hear it as I had to hide when I saw two guards. When I came back, the woman was screaming in anger, and it felt like the whole building was vibrating with the intensity of her anger. She said, ′ Kill his mate. I can’t take any chances.’”

" How can you be sure she was talking about me?” Adele asked.

" Because after that, I heard Archer say, ′ Chris is too powerful and even his mate. It will not be easy...′ The woman interrupted him and scowled, ′ Everybody else is powerful, and you all are useless. That’s all I have heard from the past fifteen years.′ Then there was silence for a few seconds, and suddenly Archer burst out of the door, and I escaped and came here. ”

Adele didn’t understand what she got to do in this situation. Why would they want to kill her? ” Do you know what they were talking about?”

" I don’t know Ade, but I am sure my Mom knows. Help me rescue her from them, and she will surely help you.”

Adele was wondering if she could trust Sera. If the matter were related to only her, she would have taken the risk, but it is related to her mates this time. Could she risk their lives too?

Seeing Adele’s confused expression, Sera tried to assure her, ” Trust me, Ade, I would never betray you. I will never side with someone who killed my Dad.”

Adele stared into the eyes of her friend, whom she had known for the past five years. Those eyes didn’t look like they were lying as Adele could feel the pain in them.

" What do we do now?” Adele asked Alexa.

" I trust her, but if we help her, then our relationship with our mates can go from bad to worse,” Alexa replied.

" But we have to stop Samara, and Sera is the only one who can help us to locate her.”

" What if it’s a trap?”

" Then tell me, what other option do we have? We got to start from somewhere. Would you rather trust Archer?”

“No! Of course not!” Alexa said without hesitation. ” Ok. Let’s do it. But how? I am sure Chris and Liam wouldn’t help.”

” I know who will.” Adele took out her phone and dialed a number. Once the call was answered, she said, ” Bro, I need your help.”
