Chapter 34 A warm welcome

A stinging slap on the face for no reason rose Baron's anger, but he calmed himself when he saw Yuri's teary face.

"I think you misunderstood me," Baron said.

Hardly had Baron finished his words, Tracy rushed into the room, "Yuri, are you all right?" She rushed here as soon as she heard from Baron that Yuri was in the Royal Hotel. "Tracy!" Holding Tracy, Yuri started bawling.

Looking wonderingly at Yuri, Tracy said, "Why do you say that? If it wasn't for him, you might have been raped by Wallace."

Then Tracy's voice came through the line, "Baron, let's try video chat. Then Lara could see you."

The video was connected soon. Baron saw Lara, in her cartoon pajamas, lying in Tracy's arms. "Daddy!" Lara cried joyfully.

Her voice was so heartwarming that Baron almost melted, "Lara, Good evening."

"Daddy, could you go home tomorrow? I really hope to live with Mom and Dad," Lara said hopefully.

Baron felt quite bitter about the words. Actually he did want to live with his daughter, but Sherry, Tracy's mother, refused him, because she hated him so much.

"When Daddy finishes his work, he will go home, OK?" Tracy said gently.

"Okay!" Lara was a little disappointed, but she was afraid to bother him, "Daddy, look! This is a Happy Family I painted. This is father, this is mother, and I am in the middle," She said excitedly, pointing to her picture, though she could only see his father via the video.

This was a painting of a family of three standing hand in hand. It was childish, but the big smiles on their faces could actually be seen.

Looking at the painting, Baron felt so guilty and Tracy's eyes misted a little.

Lara didn't notice her silent parents and continued introducing her own painting. "Daddy, can you tell me a story?" Lara said, looking at her Daddy expectantly.

"All right. Listen up! Once upon a time, there was a girl named Little Red Riding Hood..." Baron began his story.

"Daddy, I'm getting tired of this. Mom has told it for so many times!" Lara said, giggling.

"OK! I will tell you a story about a poor man."

"Ok, great!"

"Five years ago, a poor guy married with a beautiful girl..." Until Lara fell asleep, the story was not over yet.

The story went on, "The poor guy narrowly escaped death on the battlefield for many times. Finally, he became the Conqueror of Pola. After wiping out any enemy who dared to invade the Pola Islands, he gave up everything to see his beloved again.

Baron found himself spitting out the hardships he had endured over the last five years unconsciously.

When the story was ended, Tracy's face was drowned in tears.

"It was just a made-up story. Why are you crying." Baron consoled Tracy, with a gentle smile.

"Is that how you go through all these years? Isn't it?" Tracy asked in tears.

Baron didn't reply. Sometimes the best answer was silence, because the silence spelled out everything. Tracy could imagine the breathtaking scene-Baron narrowly escaped from being killed countless times. "Do you have time tomorrow?" Tracy asked suddenly. When he nodded, she said, "Tomorrow is the weekend, let's take Lara to the zoo together, okay?"

"Ok!" Baron agreed.

"Good night. See you tomorrow."

"Good night."

Baron hung up the phone and walked over to the window. It was late at night, but he was not sleepy at all. From the picture window, he had a good view of the whole Cona. But he was in no mood for the night scene, for he was weighed down with guilt.

In the Perry courtyard, Tracy lay awake, holding the little girl in her arms. She still thought about what Baron said, the story about the poor guy.

The next day, a sex video went viral on the internet. Though they put a black bar over the exposed parts, the two men in the video were easily recognized.

The video created quite a splash in Cona, especially in Scott family. It was widely known that Scott family was the 5th largest family in Cona, and Wallace was the family's eldest grandson.

Of course, the video also caused quite a stir in the Perry family. When Henry saw the video, he nearly passed out.

"You're so useless! Not even able to get rid of a humble matrilocal son-in-law!" the old man said scornfully.

Wallace couldn't bear his granddad's furious look and said at once, "Granddad, rest assured! I swear I will pay him back. I will show him what I am capable of!"
