Chapter Sixteen

Eve lay in bed beside Flint that night and she couldn't sleep. Both she and her inner animal were wide awake. Their conversation was shifting from self blame to the power struggle happening within.

We needed to. It had to be done. The animal insisted.

I have never turned without trying. You took over. You shouldn't be able to do that. Eve replied stubbornly.

We did what we could with the strength inside us. It was more than ever. The she-wolf answered.

I don't care! Hold it in! You're the Luna of StarLight for Goddess' sake! She snapped silently.

We know who we are! Hold it in?! We tried! Why are we whining?! They attacked us! She hastily answered.

Ahhh!!! Eve shouted internally.

Flint, who had been laying with his eyes closed for two hours, could feel the frustration boiling in her blood. He too had been discussing things over with his inner animal but it had been a much shorter, much more agreeable conversation.

She felt the power. Like us. The animal stated in a gruff voice.

More like us than she should have been. She controls her wolf always. This is upsetting to her. Flint thought to himself.

Of course it is. But there is nothing to be done. The wolf replied easily.

The power she holds is growing all the time. She's only three months along and she is already losing control. How much worse will it be in another six months? Eight months? He was stewing.

She is strong. She will be fine. She has to be. The animal replied.

Flint had since been ignoring his fears and focusing on the emotions radiating from his mate. She was restless, upset, frustrated, afraid, and weary. When her agitation became too much for him to ignore, he decided to interrupt her thoughts.

The Alpha rolled to his side and wrapped his arm around her, pulling her to rest her head on his chest. Eve snuggled against his warm torso. She looked up to find his emerald eyes watching her. Acceptance and tenderness flooded the mindlink between them. If anyone knew what it was like to lose control and hurt someone, it was her mate.

"Flint..." She breathed, unsure as to what she should say.

"Shhhh..." Flint cooed in a deep voice.

His lips brushed over her cheek before coming to rest against her mouth. Eve absorbed the sensation of his skin on hers like it was her only port in a storm. Her hand caressed his firm chest as another feeling swelled within her stomach. Her animal was still very much awake.

She propped herself up and pressed another kiss to his lips. Flint's arm immediately wrapped around her waist and tugged her chest flat against his. The anxious frustration building within her needed an outlet and Flint knew just how to help her relieve the tension within her.

He rolled abruptly, pressing his mate to the mattress beneath him. Eve gasped as Flint's tongue twirled with hers. She wrapped her legs around his hips and held his pelvis against hers.

The thin layers of fabric separating their bodies were torturous. Flint and Eve shed them quickly. Their skin met as he held her in a passionate embrace. She moaned quietly as his hot erection prodded her. She hugged his hips with her thighs, enjoying the pleasurable jolts his touch produced.

Eve squirmed in his grasp with the urge to feel more of him. Her mate reveled in her yearning for just a moment before he slid his hips between hers, pushing his full length into her depths. Flint groaned and buried his face in her neck.

She moaned loudly as heat filled her veins and flooded her senses. He began to thrust slowly, as if he were savoring the feeling. Eve buried her fingers in his rich, dark hair before placing an open mouthed kiss on his mark.

A bolt of lightening shot through his body, shaking him and awakening every cell in his body. Flint wrapped his hand in his mate's long, honey strands. He pulled down until her entire throat was exposed. She felt his teeth brush over her neck before biting her shoulder.

Eve shouted as his hips began thundering faster and faster. He wanted to move slowly and show her his love but he couldn't stop himself. His instinct to claim her had taken over his every thought. Flint growled and pulled her against him.

She rolled her stomach, meeting his every movement. The friction between them was building, threatening to burst into flames. Her legs began trembling as an animalistic noise erupted from her chest. Eve pressed her hand to his chest, rolling him onto his back.

Flint smiled for a brief moment before his mate lowered herself onto him. She moaned and began to move her hips back and forth, drawing him further and further into her core. He sat up suddenly and grabbed her ribs, tugging her chest toward him to take one of her nipples into his mouth.

Eve nearly screamed as her hot grip convulsed around his shaft. Flint could no longer stop himself from taking control. He grabbed her thighs, lifting her to hover above him as he hammered his hips against her.

"Flint!" She shrieked.

He mate growled in response as his pace continued to accelerate more and more. Another wave of ecstasy washed over her, this one stronger than the last. Eve screamed and shook as he toes curled uncontrollably.

Flint cursed as her entire body stiffened like a bowstring. The loud growl that resonated from his chest felt like it rattled through her body. Eve cried out as he buried his full length inside her. He froze there for a moment, his mate felt so filled by his hardness that she had to arch her back in response.

"Eve..." Flint grasped the back of her neck and kissed her deeply.

"I love you, Flint." She panted upon parting with his lips.

"I love you, baby. More than anything." He breathed softly.

When Flint wrapped her in his arms again and held her against him, Eve finally slipped into slumber. The day had been both emotionally and physically exhausting. Yet, it wasn't until she felt the closeness of her mate that she was able to rest.

Are you alright, little? The Alpha wolf spoke to his mate as his human half slept.

As long as you are with us. The Luna answered, careful not to stir and wake her counterpart.

We are with you always. He answered her in a steady tone.

Even if we can't contain it... The question sounded more nervous than she had hoped.

Especially then. We will help you. We can teach you. You are not alone, little thing. Ever. The wolf answered hastily.

Thank you, love. The she-beast sighed in relief.

Rest now. Tomorrow will be new. The animal's gruff voice softened just enough that his mate felt it.

Tomorrow could be worse. She pondered.

Then we will face it together. As with everything. The Alpha stated confidently.

Yes, love. Together. She answered sleepily.
