droop more each day

they bend and sway
The sun wanes slowly
life given to green
the trees drink
her in, cherries bright sheen
Heavier fruit awaits
her kiss to ripen
the apples and pears
last color to deepen
And peaches so special
they drop from the branches
sweet scent a magnet
succulence drenches
Nectarines, plums
Apricot a mouthful, tart
left to dry,
a summer fruit start
Of autumn’s preserves
Ambrosia for sunless
long nights
of winter’s white dress
