Cornelia was in such excruciating pain that her face turned pale and her body convulsed violently, sending Hannah into a panic. 

“Nelly, Nelly, what’s wrong with you?” Hannah asked 

Cornelia curled her body tears dropping like a waterfall that wouldn’t stop, quickly drenching her cheeks. 

“It hurts, it hurts so much” Comelia said. 

Hannah asked. “Where does it hurt? I’m calling an ambulance.” 

Cornelia lifted her hand, placing it over her heart, “Here” 

Seeing this, Hannah cancelled the emergency call she was just about to make, then picked up Cornelia’s phone, “You silly goose, don’t just bear the pain alone, let him know. I’ll call Marcus for you right now.” 

Cornelia shook her head, “No. I’ve said it before. We’re over, and I’ve said we should never contact each other again. I don’t want to be that woman who can’t let go, the one frowned upon.” 

Hannah said, “I’m not asking you to beg him to get back together. You need to tell him that you once loved him deeply, and he’s the one who lost you.” 

“No” Intense pain seemed to want to devour Cornelia, but more than the pain, the inexplicable panic rising from the bottom of her heart scared her more. It was as if she was about to lose something very important in her life. 

Hannah didn’t know about the panic in Cornelia’s heart. She picked up Cornelia’s phone, slid it, then scanned it over Cornelia’s face, and the phone was immediately unlocked. After unlocking, Hannah wanted to find Marcus’s number from the contacts, but there were only a few familiar numbers in Cornelia’s contacts. 

Marcus’s wasn’t there at all. 

Hannah took out her own phone, found Marcus’s number, and used Cornelia’s phone to dial, but the screen showed it couldn’t be dialed. 

Turned out Cornelia had blocked Marcus’s number. Such a stubborn girl! 

Hannah carefully unblocked Marcus’s number and dialed for Cornelia again, but the phone rang for a long time and no one answered. 

Hannah looked at the phone, helplessly shook her head, “Nelly.” She didn’t know how to comfort Cornelia anymore. 

“Hmm?” Cornelia asked. 

Hannah thought for a moment, “I booked a room here. You go sleep off the alcohol.” 

Cornelia said, “Okay. But I need to call Jeremy, tell him where I am. He’ll worry if he finds out I didn’t come home tonight.” 

Cornelia found her phone in a daze. Even in this state, she could clearly enter Marcus’s number. 

After entering the number, she pressed the dial button. No one answered the call, but she talked into the phone anyway, “Jeremy, Hannah’s in Riverton for once. I’m going to hang out with her, won’t be coming home tonight. I know, I’ll take care of myself. You take care of yourself too.” 

With that, Cornelia hung up 

Hannah was silent for a moment 

She suddenly started to worry, worried that if Cornelia suppressed her emotions for too long, it would have negative effects. But soon, Hannah realized she was overthinking. Because when Cornelia woke up after a good sleep, she seemed unaffected. 

Seeing the radiant Cornelia, Hannah would even mistake her for not being the same Cornelia who was talking nonsense after getting drunk yesterday afternoon. 

“Nelly, are you okay?” Hannah couldn’t help but ask.
