Old times stuck to you like shadows, but the person ain’t the same no more. Marcus had changed, and maybe Cornelia had too. 

They can’t go back to how things were, and if they ever met again, they’d just be strangers Cornelia hoped she never had to see him again. But, did being out of sight really 

mean out of mind? 

Even though Cornelia didn’t want to admit it, the pain in her heart reminded her that she still cared In fact, she cared a lot. That was why she insisted on getting a divorce Sometimes, Comelia even admired herself. Despite the pain being so intense that it was hard to breathe, she still managed to put on a brave face in front of others. Maybe, this strength was something Marcus had given her. She’d spent so much time working by his side, she knew better than anyone how well he handled stress. She’d seen a lot and she’d learned a lot. 

Why was she thinking about Marcus again? Cornelia shook her head, trying to get Marcus out of her mind. But he was like a virus, slowly invading her heart. 

Pain was all she can feel right now. Cornelia instinctively curled up, as if that could lessen the pain. 

The night was awfully long, so long that Cornelia didn’t know how she made it through. All she knew was that she’d managed to survive another endless night. But Cornelia got up and got ready like she always did. She even put on makeup to hide the tiredness on her face. 

Once she was ready, she opened her bedroom door and was greeted by the smell of breakfast. 

Comelia headed towards the kitchen “Patricia… 

Upon hearing Cornelia’s voice, Patricia popped her head out of the kitchen, “Nelly, I got coffee and cheese sandwiches for breakfast, do you like it?” 

Cornelia nodded, “I love it, absolutely love it.” 

“Then enjoy it today. I also made two plates of pancakes in your way. Let’s dig in.” Patricia heard that eating high–calorie food and sweets can lift up one’s mood, so she prepared these for Cornelia. 

Cornelia hugged Patricia from behind, “Patricia, you know me so well. What am I gonna do? You’re so good to me, I don’t think I can ever let you go.” 

Patricia laughed and said, “I’d be happy if you can’t let me go. I’m healthy now and I plan to take care of you for many more years 

“Thank you!” 

Just then, the doorbell rang 

“Patricia, I’ll get the door” Cornelia thought it was Zack or Abigail, she didn’t check the peephole before opening the door. Only then did she realize it was a delivery guy 

The delivery guy, dragging two full carts of boxes, greeted Cornelia with a big smile. 

“Are you Miss Cornelia?” 

Cornelia nodded. 

The delivery guy continued. “These are from Mr. Hartley Please sign here.”
