Chapter 96 

How was this an apartment of 850 square feet with two bedrooms? This was a luxurious house with over 2150 square feet. 

From the decoration and furniture, Nydia could tell that they were expensive. The soft in the middle of the living room was a leather sofa imported from Yeatamond. Nydia remembered that its price on the official website was over 1 million dollars. 

Seeing Nydia was angry at being tricked, the salesperson hurriedly explained, “Mrs. Jackson, the owner lives in Arbinair all year round, and he rarely returns.

“No, I’m waiting to watch the Christmas show.” Nydia refused.

“Wait, shouldn’t you be on the Christmas show?” Nydia asked. 

Veronica’s mouth was stuffed into a biscuit by her mother. She pouted impatiently and said, “Mom, what are you doing? I’m busy.” 

“Wretched girl, I saw that you just returned from work, and I was afraid you would be hungry.” Veronica’s mother scolded Veronica, but at the same time, she held a glass of fruit juice in her hand. and placed it beside Veronica’s mouth. “Open your mouth. Don’t choke.”

Nydia took a cherry from the fruit basket to stuff it into her mouth. A few drops of juice seeped out and moistened her lips, making her lips look even more tempting than the cherry. 

She said, “I’m going to call him tomorrow morning and ask for the reason.” 

“Ask him to hurry up and announce it so that I can introduce you to new men,” said Veronica. 

“No!” Nydia refused without hesitation. 

“Be good. Don’t be stubborn,” Veronica said. 

There was a knock on the door. Nydia quickly spat out the fruit core. “I need to go. Someone is here. I’ll call you later.” 

After ending the video call, Nydia looked out of the peephole. 

She was stunned when she saw the person outside the door.

Bentley stood outside the door with two bags in his hands. Nydia hadn’t seen him for a few days and he looked much more handsome. 

Nydia opened the door and asked in surprise, “How did you know I live here?” 

Troy told me.” Bentley’s lips curled into a smile. The way he looked at her was warm and passionate. “You don’t like me to come here?” 

“No,” Nydia said, turned around, and walked in. She took out a pair of men’s slippers for him. 

Bentley’s expression changed slightly. He heard Nydia say, “I prepared this for Lance and the others. I don’t know if it’s your size. Make do with it.” 

Bentley smiled again and handed one of the bags to her. 

Nydia took it and asked, “What’s this?” 

“A Christmas present for you,” Bentley said as he took another bag inside. He asked her, “Can I go into your kitchen?” 

“Of course you can,” Nydia replied hurriedly. 

The handbag was printed with the logo of a top luxury brand. When Nydia opened it, she saw a cream–colored dress lying gently and elegantly in an exquisite box. It was the style she liked and could perfectly outline her figure. 

This dress was at least over 60 thousand dollars. It was too expensive. Nydia immediately told Bentley, “I appreciate your kindness, but I can’t take the gift.” 

Bentley walked out of the kitchen and raised his eyebrows. “Then why don’t you give me something equally expensive?” 

Nydia was speechless. 

With her financial ability, she would feel reluctant to buy something equally expensive. 

Under the light, Bentley’s eyes were indescribably deep and three–dimensional. Without waiting for Nydia to respond, he smiled and said, “Let me stay at your house for Christmas Eve dinner.” 

“Huh?” Nydia was confused. 

“You don’t have to cook. I’ll make it myself. I only want to borrow your kitchenware,” Bentley said gently. 

Nydia immediately realized what he meant. ‘So this is what he was talking about. Just a meal. It can’t compare to an expensive dress. 

Nydia pursed her lips and said, “It’s fine for you to have dinner here, but I can’t accept the dress.” 

Bentley could not help but laugh. “Do you think the tag is still there?”

Nydia looked down and saw that the tag was no longer there… 

Nydia felt helpless. 

I’ll eat more later. Don’t worry. I won’t let myself suffer losses,” Bentley said. Then, he smiled, took off his jacket, placed it on the sofa, and returned to the kitchen. 

Soon, the sound of running water came from the kitchen. Nydia sighed. 

Ryan’s solemn face and his words flashed across her mind. She closed the box and placed the bag on the table. 

She and Bentley were not at the level that Ryan had described. Moreover, she only wanted to fight for her career and had no mood to start a new relationship. 

Bentley was at most a trustworthy good friend to her. 

As she thought about this, she walked to the kitchen door and leaned against it, lost in thought as she looked at the fire under the pot. 

Bentley looked back at her with a smile in his eyes. “There’s smoke inside. Go out and wait. I’ll be done soon.” 

Nydia came back to her senses. “Okay.” 

Ten minutes later, Bentley walked out with a plate of alluring fish. 

The fragrance assailed Nydia’s nostrils. She almost drooled when she smelled it. 

‘Little glutton!‘ Bentley resisted the urge to pinch her face. He took off his apron and handed her at fork. “Try it?” 

The shirt on his sleeves moved up, revealing tan skin and beautiful muscles. 

Nydia could not help but sigh. She did not expect Bentley to be so sexy despite his thin and gentle 

appearance. 

She took the fork, took a sip, and nodded. “It’s so fresh.” 

Bentley raised his eyebrows proudly. However, he only said, “I didn’t perform well this time. It will be better after I do it a few more times.” 

‘A few more times? He will come to my house to cook again in the future?‘ Nydia wondered. 

“It’s already very good. There’s no need…” The doorbell rang again, interrupting Nydia’s refusal.
