RICHARD

A cold breeze grazes on my skin. The masses, in black, are congregated amidst the warm light of the dawn. Some of them are weeping while others are halted, but whatever their behavior might be, each and everyone is standing. Ahead is different; however, a recurring image still lingers from my recollection.

My hands were always hot due to the humidity. Nevertheless, whenever the image unraveled, I saw a mahogany table behind. Afore was also made of mahogany but was a study table. An old man rested his head atop. His eyes were closed and it seemed like he was only taking a nap, but that man on the table...

Is grandfather.

Did I kill him?

How ironic if that’s the case. I’ve used my ability to exterminate my own blood, and now, here I am, completely impotent.

Averting my eyes, an endless path nestles on my left. Tall trees and clusters of shrubs complement the unending way. Promptly, my temple hurts. My vision blurs.

“Are you alright?” the sound comes beside me.

I grasp the chair due to my tainted sight. “Y-ye- nngh!”

The pain grows, seemingly to split my head through each temple.

“I’ll escort you back to the car,” Jose suggests.

I nod.

My ears sense voices, but I can’t have a grasp of their words. My body begins moving. Although the surroundings are a blur, the warm feeling of the sun is still evident.

“You don’t have to trouble yourself. The people will understand,” Jose says.

I don’t care about anyone anymore.

“Take a rest. Especially since you have been discharged from the hospital recently.”

Jose opens the door for me or so. I enter the car. He thrives in the front seat.

I lean my head against the seat. “Are we going home?”

“We are. Do you need something?”

“No.”

Not long, the vehicle starts to advance. The pain in my temples eases slightly. On the other hand, my eyelids grow heavy.

“We should arrive...”

I surrender to my fatigue.

Bang! Screech!

A shattering sound pricks. I open my eyes. Something permeates into my nose; it’s a pungent smell. From the front seat, a liquid in a shade of red is dripping.

Blood?

Promptly, a strong force pulls me from behind. I look at the back, but I cannot do so because an entity is restraining my movement. I pound my body against what’s dragging me away.

“Let me go— urk!”

A cold sensation pulses in my neck.

The entirety of my body experiences a throbbing sensation. I lift my arm, and it won’t move. This is bad.

“You wouldn’t have...”

A shiver aches. Then, both of my auditory and visual senses turn dull.

“If it wasn’t for your gra...”

Another shiver aches. My skin trembles.

“But you have that name...”

Thud!

I hear a panel close. My surrounding becomes darkness.

Who are these people?
