I was sitting at a grungy bar early in the morning, drinking away as I

waited for him.

Love Chasia was back, and Ellis was distant and cold towards me.

Not that he hasn’t always been, but this time was worse.

In five years, I tried everything to make him fall for me, but he didn’t. I still wasn’t his precious Love. I attempted to be Love Chasia. I imitate her laugh, copy her hair, and all her actions. There were times he’d see glimpses of her in me, but he snapped and was so mad.

‘You’re in love with him – For real this time,’ my inner fox said. I was born a fox, not a wolf, as claimed. I used a conjurer to get me the

scent of a werewolf so no one could uncover the truth. 4

‘I suppose I am, I have been,’ I admitted softly to her.

‘What about-‘ she stopped mid-sentence as I felt a presence next to me. I shivered, not the good kind of shivers that Ellis made me feel, but that of fear and disgust.

“You seem somber,” My boss, Maleck, kissed my neck. I turned to

him.

Maleck,” I exhaled, faking a smile

You haven’t reported to me in three months. Are you going rogue on the mission I assigned you?” he hissed, glaring daggers at me.

“No, I’m not. I’d never betray you. I have been busy with work, and was going to call you before you started making perilous threats to me,” I said through my teeth. Maleck scowled at me and sneered.

Gin,” he called to the bartender. The barman mixes his drinks and slams it in front of him. Maleck pulls me closer wrapped around my waist as he kisses my neck.

Love is back, and Ellis is pining for her again,” I informed him. I couldn’t conceal the hurt and bitterness in my words. He was not surprised to learn of this. He must have known. After all, he kept tabs on the Chasia family.

“I know,” he admitted. He had a faraway gaze in his eyes. Was he up to something? Did it have to do with Love?

Was that hurt and jealousy I detect in your voice?” he spat, squeezing me tighter. I winced and shook my head firmly. Maleck released my face harshly.

Good. I placed you there to serve me. You are my spy, so don’t go catching feelings, or I will end you and your frail grandmother’s life,” he sneered. I side glared at him. I am a fox. I was sly as my inner fox/ but unable to escape this man.

“So, my dear foxy, any important news?” he asked. Maleck was the ba stard son of the Carter household, and he was determined to destroy them.

“CC is a pain in my as s, and I haven’t been able to get the accounts you wanted. But I will soon,” I declared. Maleck looked disappointed. Lately, I have been such a disappointment to him. If this were six years ago, I’d start crying for disappointing him, but not now that I

don’t love him like I did. I fell for Ellis, who wouldn’t.
