His Human Mate
Chapter 16

Xavier's POV

I saw her running figure. She was crying hysterically. She was running away from me. That's exactly what I needed. I will not let her pass my walls.

It took me a very long time to build them. And I was not going to let her in. She was already slowly breaking those walls, without my knowledge.

And that scared me. Every time I yelled at her, because I was afraid of letting her in. I can't have her in my life. Not in my heart.

The first time I saw her, I was mesmerized by her beauty. But when I realised she was human, something in me snapped.

I didn't want to have a human as a mate. Not as a Luna Queen. Humans were weak. That was my mindset. It always has been. But deep down, I knew she was perfect.

But I blamed it on the mate bond. My wolf was pissed at me, for how I treated our mate. But I couldn't be bothered.

After the ball, the next day, my wolf went on a rampage tearing the palace down. Nathan and his mate tried to calm him down, but he wouldn't listen.

He went on a run at the woods. That's when we smelled our mate. Without listening to me, he went after the scent. That's when we saw that she was in danger because of a rogue.

He was about to safe her, when she did something that was unbelievable. As the rogue was about to attack her, she dodged and side kicked him with such quick reflex. We were both shocked. During the meeting, when she said that idea, all of us were proud. None of us got that idea. Not even the Elders. But she did. My wolf was so proud of her.

Before we went to the war, the concern I saw in her eyes, made me want to pull her into a hug and never let her go.

When I heard she fought of three witches on her own, to protect the children, my respect for her grew. Even though she knew her life would be at risk, she still did that to protect the children.

And I knew no she wolf, could match up to that. She was stronger than any she wolf. She was smarter than anyone. And she was starting to break my walls. And that scared me.

So I ended up avoiding her at any cost. I knew she was in the library, listening to my music, falling asleep. On the first day, when she came to listen to me play my music, I caught her scent.

Everyday I would check on her before going back to my chamber. She looked like a peaceful angel. I didn't want to wake her up or disturb her.

Every time I saw her train with one of the warriors, I wanted to rip his head apart and shout to him that she is mine. But I learnt they were friends and I had to control myself.

And today, when I returned from my cousin, Miguel's pack, I saw my mum standing in front of me, I lost all my shit.

It has been years since I saw her. She still looked elegant and radiant as ever. She looked a little weak. but was still as I remembered her.

I couldn't control my emotions. I didn't know how much I missed her, till I saw her. We were talking when she told me, it was Amelia who convinced her.

I was surprised when I heard that. No one, not even me, was able convince her and she did. All I wanted to do was go and hug her and tell her how sorry I am.

When I saw her playing with the kids, an image formed in both mine and my wolf head. She running around with our pups.

I followed her to go and talk to her when I heard the conversation between her and my mum. Even after everything, she called me a good man.

I retreated back to my office. My head was just in a mess. Everyone, even my own pack member has seen me as a monster. But only she has seen me as a good man.

I was scared. And it was a foreign feeling that I didn't know how to deal with. And now when she told me that she love me, all my walls broke.

I needed to push her away. For both of our sake. So I did what I was best at doing to her. I hurt her. I broke her heart. Breaking mine along the way.

I snapped out of my thoughts when I heard Nathan. He came running towards me. He stopped right in front of me panting. He looked worried and that was concerning me. It took a lot to worry him. "The witches has Amelia."
