His Favored Luna
Chapter 11

Autumn’s POV

Tonight is the Luna ceremony and we are actually going to be legally married for the sake of blending in with the humans, a lot packs now days have mates becoming legally married according to the human laws so that we don’t draw any attention to us and we are encouraged to use the terms husband and wife instead of mate. The werewolf counsel has decided that we need to blend in more and this is one way.

I have spent most of the morning shopping with Sadie and Tabitha looking for the perfect dress. We are sitting in the food court eating lunch, the pair of them have been grilling me about sex life with Grey, I tell them that I am satisfied, but steer clear of details. Tabitha asks “are you nervous about the ceremony tonight? I mean the moon goddess part?” I think about this question and say “no, not really, I have been talking to the moon goddess pretty much my whole life, I am excited to finally have that connection with her as a Luna. I can’t believe she chose me to be Luna, I am the most unlikely wolf to hold such an honor” Tabitha and Sadie look at each other and it doesn’t go unnoticed by me. “What?” Sadie then confesses “there is talk around the pack, apparently there are some who question the mate connection, it was no secret that he had a thing to you and everyone knew about your crush on him, some say that you both denied your true mates just to be together, they say that you are not the true Luna, that the goddess will not connect with you tonight.” I sigh and say “well, I guess we shall see tonight, we all know that a true Luna gets the Luna glow after the connection.” I am a little excited about getting my glow, only true mated women get the glow.

It is strange to think about how the werewolf world works, the men are usually the strongest and the leaders, the alpha is strong and is born to lead, but without his Luna a pack will fall apart, Lunas are the ones that represent the Moon Goddess, if having to explain it to a human, a Luna would be greater than the pope, the dahlia lama, Buddha, all rolled into one. The moon goddess has been known to make an appearance for the whole group to see, even I am not that hopefull.

When we finish our lunch we start shopping again and I find the right dress, white and flowy it’s beautiful and perfect. I purchase the dress and go with my duo to get pampered for my big night. That’s one things the humans do right, the manicures, the pedicures, someone else washing your hair, massaging you, yeah, I love all the pampering the humans seem to love as well. My wolf on the other hand doesn’t like humans touching us, she doesn’t trust them, after tonight me and my wolf will become one, much like me and Grey and Grey’s wolf.

I stand in the mirror with nerves making me jittery, I really wished my parents were here for this moment, I am as ready as I am going to be, John is waiting on me as I take one last look at myself. He comes over to me, “Kitten, you look absolutely beautiful, I am so proud of you. You are going to be great, my Luna” that’s right I will be his Luna, I knew it worked that way, but it never occurred to me that he will bow his head to me as Luna. I hug him and he says “I have something for you” he takes out a small gold locket, inside is a picture of my parents. I look up at him with tears in my eyes “it belonged to your mom, I was going to give it to you on your 16th birthday, but that was the day we were too busy fighting with the rogues, you know the one that nearly got Greyson killed” I do remember that, I had stayed in bed most of the day, the truth was I had shifted a week after I left my home back, it surprised me as wolves don’t shift earlier than sixteen, the alpha promised to keep my secret, he said sometimes we are more in tuned with our wolves and the moon goddess than others and therefore giving us the ability to get our wolves faster.

“I wonder what gifts the moon goddess is going to bestow upon you?” I am confused “what do you mean gifts? Isn’t the glow the gift?” He laughs and says “no, sweetie, the glow is to let everyone know that you carry the light of the moon, the gifts she bestows upon you as the Luna, it is usually something like the ability to sense danger before others, almost like a psychic power, or the ability to heal others so she can help the pack doctor, the moon goddess is generous to the Luna, you are the closest being to herself, she only chooses the ones she believes to be the most faithful as a Luna, so in that regard I am very proud of you.” I smile at him again this is getting my nerves in a tizzy, my heart beats faster when a knock comes to the door, it’s time to go.

John walks with me holding my hand, he takes me to Greyson who is waiting for me at an alter made from vines and flowers candles help illuminate the area, but the clearing is glowing by the moon as if it is a spot light shining down on us. I stand facing Greyson and we both recite vows to each other, the human vows are meant to be sacred, but so many humans break them, when we mate and mark each other that is stronger than any words you can promise, it will hurt us in all ways possible if we break our bond.

Now that we are legally married, we move on to the Luna ceremony, all pack members are present as I am presented to the pack, Greyson is proud to present me as his mate and the packs Luna, I can see it in his eyes and sense his emotions, after tonight I should be able to sense everyone in my packs emotions. “Now, we shall allow the Luna to connect with the moon goddess, all male members of the pack are to shift as the women will circle the Luna as she begins her connection.” I can almost hear some snickering about how the moon goddess won’t be bothering to connect with a wannabe. I ignore this and move into position.

I close my eyes and pray out to the moon goddess to come visit me, to connect with me, I immediately forget the others are around as it feels I am being lifted up into the air. Wind blows around me and it feels like I am flying, I keep my eyes closed and I no longer hear anyone around me, in the distance I hear howls and I know I hear Greyson’s howl above all others I focus on the moon goddess and begin my Luna prayer.

“Mother, Goddess of moon and star, bring your presence from afar, manifest on this, your night, and bless me in this sacred rite. Grant the knowledge and clarity, to understand your words to me. Lend your power, send your light aid me in my work tonight. With love and wisdom please embrace, all within this sacred space. Mother, I know call to you, bring your message clear and true”

The wind picks up again and then an echo of a voice speaks to me, “Autumn, purest of hearts, open your eyes and see me” I open my eyes and see a woman with white hair and wearing a see through dress and she is smiling at me. “Dear sweet Autumn, I have been looking forward to this night, did you know you are in my favor?” I bow my head and ask “why? I am nobody” she smiles and says “you don’t know what power you pocess, do you?” I shake my head no, “your mother and father had one last dying wish, and it was to spare you and to give you strength, tell me child, do you remember what happened after your parents died?” I tell her “the only thing I remember is seeing them gone and the next thing I remember is Greyson carrying me to the pack doctor” it is something that has been bothering me for a while, something that I couldn’t quite bring back from my memories is how I escaped death, how I got away from the rogues who killed my parents there were so many my parents put up a good fight, but was just outnumbered by so many. “You were given my power that day, to keep them from attacking you, I gave you the speed of an alpha to run away, I gave you the strength of both your parents combined to fight, I gave you endurance and I gave you the instinct to sense danger before others, you will always have these gifts, the rogues who killed your parents were on a mission, when they came for you your wolf growled at them and they knew you were special, you became airborne and glowed with my light it frightened them enough to leave, your wolf layed dormant but was always there, you shifted early because of the danger the other pack faced” I then ask “what was the mission?” She smiles at me, “to kill the next alpha, they would have succeeded to if I had not gave you the gifts that day to frighten them away, it is no wonder I made you two mates, since that day you were drawn to the other, he always wanted to keep you safe, but the truth is that it is you that keeps him safe.” This information is shocking to me.

“Autumn your Luna gifts is beyond any other Luna gift I have ever bestowed, your innocence and faith have brought you into my favor, your light will frighten your enemies, your wolf is as powerful as your alpha, and your speed faster. She embraces me and says “go now and be great.” I close my eyes and feel my body floating to earth and I land softly on the ground.
