Chapter 7 The Mistress Takes Over

“Liam, do you think it looks good?”

In the bridal shop, Layla stood in front of Liam, who had just changed into a wedding dress. She smiled at him with happiness and joy, her face filled with the bliss of an upcoming bride.

Her once–pale face now radiated with a glow.

In order to please her mother–in–law, Layla had straightened her curly hair into long. black strands that gently cascaded down her back. In that moment. Liam seemed to see Nancy.

When they were together, that woman used to smile every day. But as time went on and he became increasingly indifferent towards her, her smiles became fewer and fewer.

Liam’s thoughts began to wander. Things he had never considered before suddenly flooded his mind, such as the fact that his previous marriage had never included a wedding ceremony.

Facing a wife he had randomly chosen, Liam treated her as a mere accessory. He didn’t even bother with a wedding ceremony, let alone registering their marriage. At that time, he was lying in bed, his whole body covered in plaster and steel plates, unable to move.

He didn’t even know why Nancy had married him. He wondered if she just wanted to be his wife for personal gain.

**Liam…”

Seeing the man lost in thought for a while, Layla walked up to him with the wedding dress and called out to him again, asking, “Does it look beautiful?”

Liam snapped back to reality and replied, “It’s beautiful.”

Layla smiled. “This part is still a bit loose. It doesn’t show my waistline. Can you make it tighter?”

The designer hesitated and said, “I’m sorry, but our wedding dresses are custom–made three months in advance. This one is not your size because you bought it temporarily from another customer. She originally had a fuller figure than you… If you want alterations, it’s possible, but I’m afraid it won’t be ready in time for your wedding.”

Upon hearing this, Layla’s face immediately fell. “So, it’s my fault?”

“No, no, you misunderstood…”

The designer was startled, not understanding why the gentle and amiable lady suddenly changed her attitude. As a humble designer, she couldn’t afford to offend the esteemed lady and kept apologizing..

Layla was still not satisfied and insisted, but Liam calmly spoke up, “If this dress doesn’t work, we’ll choose another one that fits your size.”

The designer hurriedly said, “There is another wedding dress that suits you.”

“I’ve seen it, and I don’t like it. It’s too outdated.”

Layla coldly rejected the designer’s suggestion and then stared at her with a menacing look. “Also, don’t call me by my name; call me Mrs. Walker.”

The designer was taken aback.

Liam furrowed his brows and said calmly, “You can leave for now. We’ll take another look.”

The designer didn’t want to serve anymore, so she walked out with the wedding dress she had taken off and couldn’t help but complain to her colleague, “What’s wrong with this person? She’s making a big deal out of nothing. She’s so pretentious, clearly a mistress who has taken the upper hand!”

The voice was neither loud nor soft, and it happened to be heard clearly by Layla and

Liam.

Layla’s face turned pale with anger. “What did you say? Who’s the mistress? Explain yourself!”

She was furious and wanted to drag the designer back, but Liam stopped her. “Alright. you’re not feeling well. Don’t stoop to her level.”

“How could she say that about me? How could I possibly be the mistress? I knew you so Nancy is the mistress!”

first,

Layla felt deeply hurt. She covered her face and cried, pulling at Liam’s clothes. “I don’t care, Liam; you have to drive this designer out of the city. I never want to see her again!”

Liam felt it was unnecessary, but seeing Layla’s flushed face from anger, he was afraid it would affect her health. So, he could only calm her down by saying, “Alright, I’ll do as you

say.

Layla felt triumphant and took advantage of the situation. “And you have to publicly declare that we are cach other’s first and true love. Nancy is just a passerby; she’s the real intruder between us!”

Liam furrowed his brows, and his rationality told him that he should listen to his beloved

woman.

However, for some reason, hearing that name and that sentence made him feel so uneasy.

Nancy declined Gary’s offer to accompany her and just wanted to rest at home.

I’m afraid I won’t be able to sleep well after this nap.

She predicted accurately. Just as she had settled into bed, the deafening sound of music came from the next room, banging and clanging like a ghost hitting a wall, creating a chaotic uproar.

Nancy rubbed her forehead, almost forgetting that the soundproofing in her house was not good. She had complained to her parents countless times about this issue, but they dismissed her concerns, citing her safety as the reason.

However, everyone in the entire Rose Garden knew that the young miss had a light sleep. and couldn’t tolerate any disturbances during the night.

.It seemed that after her three–year absence, she needed to establish some new rules.

Cerci was forced out of the second bedroom by Nancy and had to move into the guest room. As she looked at the cramped and shabby room, she felt furious. And when she saw her bags that had been scratched, her anger grew even stronger!

Why should she be the one to suffer in silence while Nancy occupies her room and sleeps soundly?

She refused to let her sleep! She would make sure not to disturb her!

Cerci turned the stereo to maximum volume, stood on the bed, and danced around, turning the house into a disco. Holding a microphone in one hand and raising the other, she entertained herself, saying, “Hey, friends, let’s have a great time!”

As the door opened, a bucket of ice–cold water was thrown at her face, drenching her to
