Chapter 13 5

Evadne suddenly felt a pang of fear, slowly turning around.

Her eyes were filled with indifference.

A few paces away. Thaddeus stood alone, his gaze fixed unwaveringly on her and Avery, his upright body slightly quivering.

He looked at her bandaged arm, his heart squeezed with pain. He took an involuntary step forward, wanting to get closer to her.

“What happened to your hand?”

Evadne stepped back as if to avoid him, providing Avery an opportunity to shield her.

Thaddeus’s throat tightened in tension as he locked eyes with the other man. The atmosphere was thick with tension.

“I won’t let you get away with this again.”

Avery adjusted his gla**es, a threatening look in his eyes as he continued, “You’ve already stolen her away from me once tonight. Are you planning on doing it again?”

“What’s your relationship with her?” Thaddeus stared at him, his tone hard.

He had been deceived by Evadne’s brothers before. He feared this man was also Emeric’s son.

But the look in Evadne’s eyes was full of emotion. It wasn’t like how relatives should look at each other.

“Our relationship is closer than yours, and he’s more important to me than you are,” Evadne said coldly, hitting the nail on the head!

Avery turned back to look at her deeply with a satisfied smile on his face.

“Thaddeus, I’ve already told you outside the karaoke place. I don’t understand why you’re still hung up on this. What’s the point?”

Thaddeus’s eyes reddened, “Evadne, don’t you know how to be grateful? You got drunk with some random man. I was worried that he would.”

Evadne frowned in disgust, cutting him off, “His concern makes me grateful, but your concern makes me sick. I’ve already vomited once tonight, Mr. Thaddeus. Could you not make me do it again?”

Her words cut him deep.

Thaddeus’s lips were pale and weak, his heart aching.

Tonight, wave after wave of shock had left him reeling. He felt like he was about to break.

They were done. Why did he still care about her?

Did he really regret it? Did he regret getting a divorce?

Thaddeus was filled with self-doubt.

Was he the one in the wrong? Was he wrong from the start?

“Mr. Thaddeus! Ms. Acacia is out of danger now!”

At this moment, Gordon ran over, shouting loudly. He didn’t notice Evadne’s presence.

When he saw her, it was already too late.

Seeing both Thaddeus and Evadne’s faces were very gloomy, Gordon wished he could smack himself in the mouth!

“Mr. Thaddeus, it turns out you already have another woman.”

Avery immediately understood everything He chuckled lightly. “Then why are you still bothering Ms. Evadne? Are you trying to get something out of her?”

Thaddeus’s gaze deepened, and Gordon was also very surprised.

That was a pretty harsh thing to say!

Evadne’s pupils contracted slightly with a startle in her heart.

He actually knew who she is!

“Since you’re already divorced, you shouldn’t be bothering her anymore. That’s a principle, and it’s also basic manners.”

Avery glanced at Thaddeus with cold eyes, “It seems you’re not a good man.”

“What do you mean by that?” Gordon’s face reddened in anger, and he stepped forward to protect Thaddeus.

“Alright, let’s not bother with him anymore. Let’s go.” Evadne called out to Avery. She didn’t want to cause a scene in public.

“Okay.” Avery instantly dropped his serious expression. He had a gentle smile on his face as he returned to her side faithfully.

Thaddeus watched as they gradually disappeared, his emotions complicated.

It turned out there was already another man by Evadne’s side.

Thaddeus subconsciously clutched his trembling chest, feeling a heartache.

It was only at this moment that he truly realized that they were already divorced.

In the underground parking lot, upon seeing Avery and Evadne coming out, Jason immediately approached.

“Miss, how’s your injury?”

“I’m fine. What about the perpetrator?” Evadne was only concerned about this at the moment.

“Don’t worry, I’ve already secretly taken him away. He’s now trapped in the Black Room.” Jason Dempsey whispered into her ear.

“Good. Jason, we have some important things to do in the next few days.” Evadne squinted her dangerous yet beautiful eyes, patting his shoulder.

Jason nodded seriously: “I’m ready at any time!”

“Wait for me, I’ll go say goodbye to him.”

Having said that, Evadne turned around and walked towards Avery.

At this moment, Avery stood next to the Bentley, looking suave.

“Tonight, you’ve seen what happened. My relationship with Mr. Thaddeus is quite complicated.”

Evadne looked up at Avery’s smiling face, her voice filled with a hint of guilt, “I really had no choice, so I asked you to help me put on a show. What’s happening between him and me shouldn’t have involved you. I apologize.”

“No need to apologize. If I can be used by you, I’d consider it an honor.” Avery’s voice was clear and charming.

Evadne lightly bit her lip. His words made her feel even more awkward.

“If you find me useful feel free to use me again next time.” The man added with a smile.

“Sir, you’re joking again.” Evadne gave a bitter smile, “I really hope there won’t be a next time for this.”

“Don’t touch water with your wound for a week, and watch your diet. It’s late now, and you should go home.”

Avery’s eyes were filled with reluctance, but he knew when to stop, so he bid her farewell and got into the car.

“Wait!” Evadne knocked on the car window.

The window slowly rolled down. Avery looked at her with a smile.

“How did you know to call me Ms. Evadne in front of Thaddeus? How did you know my name? Did you know who I was from the get-go?” Evadne’s curiosity was through the roof. If she didn’t get an answer, it would bug her to no end.

“Yes.” He stared into her clear eyes, answering straight-up.

“I hardly ever show my face in public. Only a handful of people know who I am. How did you know? Have we met before?” Evadne fired off questions, eyes sparkling.

A smirk tugged at Avery’s lips, “I’ll tell you next time we meet.”

The secretary and the bodyguard hopped into the cars, and two luxury vehicles zoomed off, leaving Evadne behind.

Suddenly, she had a lightbulb moment, “Darn it! I forgot to ask his name again!”

The Bentley rushed through the glamorous night.

Avery stared out the window, the dazzling neon lights flickering before him. But all he could think of was Evadne’s stunning face.

He squinted his eyes, fingers gently caressing the cold window.

“Evadne. I never thought I’d bump into you like this.”

“Mr. Chambers, I did a quick search on Thaddeus and her, but there’s no record of their marriage at all! But I found out they just got officially divorced this month,” the secretary looked at the iPad, his voice rising, “which means, Ms. Evadne is single now!”

“I couldn’t care less. She said I mean more to her than Thaddeus, and I am closer to her heart,” Avery thought of this and his heart still sk ip ped a beat.

“Congrats, Mr. Chambers! You beat Thaddeus thi s time!” the secretary cheered for him.

“That’s not enough.” Avery’s usually cold eyes warmed up because of Evadne, “What I want is to be the only one in her heart.”
