After a routine training mission goes wrong Major Sandra Locke is reassigned to a new mission. While seeking the re-emergence of an alien race she becomes an unwitting pawn in a power struggle Major Sandra Locke once hero of Confederacy is in disgrace. Her training mission goes wrong when a Terran Empire ship attacks hers. She escapes and finds herself back at the Academy she was assigned to. A woman of action she is torn between her duty and the terrible nightmares that led to her disgrace. With the re-emergence of an ancient alien race she is given another chance. Unwittingly she becomes a pawn in the battle for the Imperial throne and finds the truth about her Terran heritage.
