Heed My Warnings And Survive
Chapter Forty: Freedom

Chapter Forty

Freedom

It had been a year. One year since I left my home, one year since my mother threw me out, one year ago since I lost my sister. Now I was living on a small farm, and I was to be married to Kiara at the end of this year, my life was almost perfect. If it hadn’t been for my lost friends this would seem like a dream, in a way they were still helping by keeping me grounded.

I was sitting atop a hill under a weeping willow where I had put headstones to honor my fallen loved ones, I was sitting recounting my adventures since I last saw them, to Finley, I told him about my battle with the witch, and how close Kiara had come to joining them by Devin’s hand, to Zander I recounted every moment of our adventure, the he hadn’t been a part of, and reassured him of Thomas’ safety, and that I would search high, and low for Neireida, to my mother I told her about my friends, and of Kiara, and how I hoped she’d be with us for our lives together, blessing us with her motherly love, and to Aster, I explained animatedly our adventures, and battles.

“You know Aster,” I said. “Although my heart is broken that you can’t meet Kiara, I really should thank you for making me see Aria that day, because of her I have learned to be strong at the hardest of times, I lost so many, but I gained a love deeper than anything I have ever felt. As much as I hate to say it, I found dad.” I chuckled. “He’s a pig farmer in Telanda, he says he didn’t want to leave us, but personally I don’t think he tried hard enough to find us again, but I think I’ll forgive him eventually, I want my children to have a grandparent, and I think my option is better then Kiara’s. Aster you would love Kiara, she’s kind, funny, and one of the toughest people I know, I think when you had gotten older you would’ve been just like her.” I let out a sorrowful sigh. “I miss you Aster, I miss the ways you would make me laugh, I hope if I ever have a little girl, she’ll be like you, just as pure, and loving.” I sat there for another hour before going home. Kiara, and I obviously couldn’t live together yet, but most days she had dinner with me, in the small farm house. My life was good, after a year of hardship I was able to rest.

Now I know at the beginning of this story I said if I had known then what I knew now I never would’ve gone to the witch, but I think knowing now, what I didn’t then, I wouldn’t change a single thing.
