I was furious, Draven, and Finley had escaped, and my men were to blame. I sat on my bed fuming, not understanding how they got away, when Neireida entered my tent.

“Zander, I have something to tell you, and you’re not allowed to get angry,” she told me. I furrowed my eyebrows, but I didn’t interrupt. “You know I can’t keep secrets, so I’ll tell you straight out. I left Fin, and Draven go,” she said, standing up straight, showing she was not afraid of me, and I wouldn’t have her be of course, but fear, anger, dread, shock, remorse, and sorrow filled me.

“You knew?” I asked. She nodded, and tears started in my eyes.

“Neireida, I don’t think you know what you’ve done,” I said, putting my head in my hands.

“What do you mean?” She asked.

“I bargained your soul’s, yours, and Thomas’ for Draven, and Finley,” I informed her. Her eyes widened.

“Zander! What were you thinking?” She said loudly.

“I don’t know,” I said, running my hands through my hair. Neireida was giving me a disapproving look. “I’m sorry, but I didn’t know how to get you back,” I said, placing my head in my hands. Neireida sat beside me.

“What happens if you don’t deliver?” She asked me, her voice calming a little. I sighed.

“I get his soul,” The witch said, appearing at the mouth of the tent. I flinched, and she smiled evilly. “And would you like to hear the best part?” she asked, kneeling on the bed behind, and leaned my head on her shoulder. Neireida glowered at her. “He can’t help but kill them, because once he gets close to them, I ignite his anger, and he can’t help but go into a rage,” She informed us gleefully. My eyes widened, and I started breathing quickly, and I wanted to tell her to take my soul then, and there, but she suppressed my voice. I looked at Neireida, putting all the pain of my actions, and asking her for forgiveness. She nodded. Relief spread through my body, and I knew she would help me in my quest to fix the mistake I had made.
