Chapter 24 Grace’s Son

“Oh, I thought we wouldn’t be in touch anymore after that,” Celia remarked.

Dominic’s expression instantly turned dark.

Celia suddenly tapped her head. “But on second thought, I should have given you my new number. You’ll probably still need me to help Grace, the love of your life.”

“I’ve already told you, she’s the love of my life.”

“It doesn’t matter,” Celia calmly responded. “Why did you want to meet me at the restaurant today? Is this about Grace?”

“No.”

“Then what was it about?” Celia wondered if Dominic had anything else to do with her besides this.

By the tone of her voice, it was clear that she knew what he wanted.

Dominic replied indifferently, “I want to ask you what I can do to convince you to sleep with me.”

Celia had no doubt that he was still preoccupied with that thought.

“There are plenty of other women for you to sleep with, Mr. Dawson. Don’t forget that I’m your ex–wife,” Celia said, feeling speechless. “Do you have a thing about sleeping with your ex–wife?”

Dominic’s gaze grew intense. “Only You.”

She didn’t catch his allusion, but she knew he was referring to her, at least in the context of their divorce.

Regardless of the answer, Celia did not want to continue the conversation. She didn’t want to build any further personal relationship with him.

Realizing that this topic couldn’t be pursued further, Celia remembered her friend’s earlier request and decided to ask, “Was it why you scared off Jayden earlier?”

“Yes,” Dominic coldly replied.

“Now that the misunderstanding is cleared and you know that I didn’t

purposefully stand you up. So, please don’t be mad at me anymore?” Celia said.

Celia went completely still, while Dominic was taken aback for a second after she said those words.

Celia frequently used that tone to calm Dominic down before they split up. She always knew how to soothe him with just the right words.

A normal response from Dominic would be a quiet “Hmm,” implying his acceptance of her behavior. Like right now, for example.

Celia believed that she had completely freed herself from the ten years of being with Dominic, returning to her true self. She felt like she’d gone back in time at that very second.

The atmosphere in the car immediately turned awkward. Celia cleared her throat twice to break the silence and said, “Thank you.”

Dominic also snapped back to reality and said indifferently, “Don’t forget, you need to make a promise.”

Celia’s lip twitched as she was surprised that he still remembered this. “Sure, just tell me.”

“Not sure what I’ll do just yet. We can talk about this later,” he said, staring at her. Celia sensed a hidd

meaning in his gaze as if he wanted to take advantage of

her.

“Whatever,” she replied.

Celia secretly made up her mind to find a way to make Dominic owe her a favor, too, ensuring that she would get something in return. She had never anticipated that she would be easily taken advantage of before.

If Dominic wanted to play games, then she would play along and not let him. have his way.

Upon returning home, Celia expected to see Chelsea and Tammy but found

herself alone.

She tried to call Chelsea, but there was no answer, so she texted Tammy instead. Tammy quickly replied, informing Celia that they were still at the kindergarten and Chelsea had gotten into an argument with someone.

Celia headed to the kindergarten to find them. She anticipated it would be troublesome, but when she arrived, she saw a crowd at the entrance.

Even from a distance, she could hear Chelsea’s yelling.

Setting

“How could I, the noble member from the Cole family, become a mistress?!”

“Really? If you’re not a mistress, then why are you standing here?” Lydia retorted directly to Chelsea. Her ripped jeans exposed her thighs, attracting attention, and her eyes u

filled with disdain.

Lydia and Chelsea were fierce rivals, and it appeared that destiny was playing a joke on them.

Lydia gave Tammy a disdainful look and scoffed, “This child must be your bastard with your sugar daddy. Well, she seems to born a slut. She will probably grow up to be just like you, adept at captivating people’s attention everywhere.Chelsea responded mockingly, “Captivate? Why would I even bother? I’m simply helping my friend enroll her child here.”

“Which friend?” asked Lydia, raising an eyebrow.

Chelsea pouted and retorted, “That’s none of your business.”

“The child is clearly yours, that much is clear. To secure a spot for your child in this respectable international kindergarten, let alone have connections with the influential people in Cester city, is extremely unlikely given your social standing.”

Tammy blinked, not comprehending their argument but catching the meaning behind the last statement. “But I got accepted right away.”

Lydia sneered and remarked, “Are you a prodigious child, fluent in ten languages? Do you know Grace’s son, who was born into the esteemed Dawson family? Did you get admitted without any tests, or do your dad happens to be the head of the Dawson family? The kindergarten must be eager to have Grace’s son him here, as it is such an honor.”

Chelsea scoffed and replied, “I know you’re trying to complimenting Grace! But is so hilarious! She hasn’t even married into the Dawson family yet. What makes. her kid so special?”

Lydia initially commented to compliment Grace’s son for his high status and intelligence since Grace was her best friend.

Lydia smirked and retorted, “Although Grace hasn’t married into the Dawson family yet, it’s only a matter of time. Mr. Dawson has never had any other woman in his life all these years, and Grace has already become the acknowledged wife of Mr. Dawson.”

Chelsea sneered with disdain, “So what? Don’t forget that Mr. Dawson still has an

ex–wife. The acknowledged wife of Mr. Dawson is his ex–wife rather than Grace, and their marriage is legal!”

Lydia’s expression turned dark, clearly showing that Chelsea’s words had struck a sensitive chord.

They resumed their verbal attacks on each other while Celia felt an

uncomfortable twitch in her eye. She was Dominic’s ex–wife, and Lydia and Chelsea were now defending their best friends.

Lydia, being quite cunning herself, swiftly changed the subject to Tammy. “Allow me to take

this chance to compliment your child. Her father must be a big shot. Otherwise, how else could she have gotten into this kindergarten without taking any tests?”

“Tammy doesn’t have a father!” Chelsea replied bluntly. In her mind, the man. who had hurt Celia did not deserve to be Tammy’s father.

Lydia smirked, “It’s impossible for her not to have a father! She didn’t just appear out of thin air, did she? I’m going to find out one day.”

Chelsea had always been single and had no intimate relationships with any men. Consequently, many wealthy women targeted her as a potential wife for their

sons.

Chelsea’s reputation would be ruined if everyone knew who Tammy’s father was.

Lydia had only come up with this idea when she coincidentally saw Chelsea applying for Tammy’s enrollment when she was there to drop off Daniel.

The fact that Tammy hadn’t taken the entrance exam raised her concerns. It was nearing the end of the school day, and some nearby parents became enraged when they overheard that Tammy hadn’t taken the entrance exam.

“My child studied tirelessly for the entrance exam! It was so painful for him! We were all on edge. Why does this child can skip the entrance exam?”

“The admissions office needs to explain. I can’t accept that!”

“There must be something wrong with the admissions system!”

Setting

The teacher who supervised the children after school looked confused and asked, “Miss, could you please explain what happened? How did this child get admitted? The only child who was able to get in here without taking entrance exam was from the Dawson family.”

“I only recognize that one. What about this little girl? How did she directly gain admission to the kindergarten? I strongly disagree!” Another parent exclaimed. Chelsea didn’t think it was a big deal at first, but as she listened to everyone’s comments, things became increasingly perplexing.

“I just submitted the necessary documents, and they took care of everything.” Chelsea replied.

At that moment, a car slowly approached, and one of the mothers shouted, “It’s Mr. Moore, and he’s here! Let’s ask him about it!”

The principal’s car halted at the gate of the kindergarten. The door soon opened, revealing a sophisticated, refined man wearing stylish glasses.

“Why is everyone gathered here?” The man’s voice was gentle and soothing, like a soft spring breeze. He appeared to be around twenty–five years old, looking elegant.

The person who had arrived was Aidan Moore, the young inheritor of the affluent Moore family and also the principal of the kindergarten, which made him highly influential in the upper class.

When Lydia spotted the man, she hurried over to him and said, “Mr. Moore, we don’t think the enrollment process here is working properly.”

Aidan scowled and asked, “Is something wrong? I’ll check about it.”

Lydia gestured towards Chelsea and Tammy, exclaiming, “It’s them! There must be something wrong as this kid was admitted right away.”

Realizing the situation was turning unfavorable, Chelsea stopped Tammy and assured her, “I followed all the proper procedures. Don’t worry, honey.”

Lydia smirked and retorted, “Liar! With Mr. Moore here, you won’t be able to pull any tricks.”

Chelsea interjected, “Stop the nonsense. The kid did nothing wrong!”

Setting

Anxiety crept over her as she pondered whether someone was deliberately plotting against them. If that was the case, she had no idea what to do. Seeing everyone suspecting them, she started to doubt herself.

Lydia noticed Chelsea’s internal turmoil and spoke with renewed confidence, “Mr. Moore, you should thoroughly investigate this. We won’t be convinced by her explanation. Why did other kids have to exert effort to be admitted while this one got in directly? You should punish her.”

Aidan frowned slightly. “Why should I punish her? She can certainly attend this kindergarten!”

Everyone present was astonished. “There’s nothing wrong? How is that event possible?!”

“This child speaks fluently in eighteen languages, boasts an IQ of 230, and hails from a family that has made significant contributions to the country. According to the admission criteria, gifted children and those with direct relatives who have made contributions to the country are granted the privilege of special admission. Hence, it is natural that she gained direct entry.”

Their focus shifted to the little girl behind Chelsea, who was freely enjoying a lollipop. They were curious about her family background.

The people present all wondered about the girl’s parents. They were curious that apart from the influential Dawson family, who else could have made notable contributions?

Mr. Moore wore a faint smile as he responded, “The identity of the girl’s parents is confidential and cannot be disclosed.” However, the glint of intimidation and aloofness in his eyes dissuaded anyone from pursuing the matter further.

Lydia fell into hushed contemplation.

That which Aidan said was unquestionably true. There was no reason for the Moore family to keep any secrets from a girl because they were a prominent. family.

Chelsea found herself taken aback by the unfolding situation. “You see? Even Mr. Moore himself has affirmed that there is nothing wrong with Tammy’s admission. Yet, you continue to question the kindergarten’s admissions process. It is an outright challenge to the school’s reputation!”

Aidan’s expression became vaguely displeased. “I can assure you, based on my own integrity, that the admissions process in this kindergarten is conducted in at

fair and unbiased manner. There is no possibility of privileged admissions. I kindly request all parents to refrain from questioning this little girl.”

Aidan’s firm response quickly caused the other parents‘ demeanor to soften, leading Chelsea to accuse Lydia immediately, “Mr. Moore, she’s the one who has been spreading rumors!”

Lydia glared at Chelsea before hastening to explain to Aidan, “That’s not what I meant. I didn’t doubt the kindergarten. I was just surprised by the direct admission of Chelsea’s child.”

Aidan remained composed as he calmly said, “The mother of this child is not Chelsea.”

Lydia felt a wave of embarrassment wash over her. “Oh, I see. Sorry, I made a mistake.”

Chelsea approached Lydia and whispered in a hushed voice, ensuring only they could hear, “You’ve got a crush on Aidan, haven’t you? I can help you reveal your true intentions to him.”

After saying this, Chelsea took a step back, a sneer forming on her lips. “Do you dare claim that my child is unworthy? Just say it outright, you snob.”

Lydia’s face paled, then flushed with anger, and she wished she could skin. Chelsea. Frustrated, she retorted, “Shut up!”

At this moment, Lydia realized Aidan was still present, witnessing the entire fight.

Aidan looked at her with ice–cold eyes, an underlying disdain in his voice evident. “I will contact Daniel’s parents to arrange for someone else to pick him up in the future,” he uttered coldly.

Put simply, Aidan did not want to encounter Lydia again at the kindergarten, and he was confident that the Dawson family would agree with him.

Lydia fought back tears as she realized that her relationship with Aidan had completely soured.

Conversely, Chelsea felt a sense of satisfaction as she walked towards her car with Tammy. However, when she opened the car door, she was taken aback. “What are you doing here?”

Celia, clutching a lollipop, blinked innocently and replied, “I was bored at home and overheard something funny happening here, so I came to see.”
