Chapter 21 Arthur is In Trouble

Celia was puzzled to see Chelsea in tears, but the next thing she knew, Chelsea. was hugging her.

“Why didn’t you tell me when you were treated so unfairly?” Chelsea asked.

“I wasn’t treated unfairly,” Celia replied. When Celia got married and successfully fulfilled the task given by Dominic, she genuinely didn’t feel any injustice. She, on the other hand, was satisfied with her own efficacy.

However, Chelsea’s mood grew low. “Don’t lie. Only when a woman wears an ill–fitting ring for a long time does she become like this. When my father proposed to my mother, he didn’t even buy a ring in her size.”

Chelsea was raised in a wealthy family and was familiar with the custom of arranged marriage because that was how her parents got married. “No one. knows better than me, Celia, why didn’t you tell me earlier who that scumbag is? I must help you teach him a lesson!” Celia coughed. “Let it go, please.”

“You must tell me who he is. I’m not afraid of anyone except Dominic!”

Celia didn’t reply because her ex–husband just happened to be Dominic.

Chelsea’s voice would shiver whenever Dominic was mentioned, indicating that she was afraid of him.

Celia sighed discreetly and could only say, “That’s all in the past. Let’s not dwell on it anymore, alright? I truly don’t want to bring it up again.”

Chelsea wept, tears streaming down her face. She glanced at Tammy, who was still playing in the water and then looked at Celia with a heart filled with tenderness. “Celia, how have you been all these years? You were duped by a scumbag and still had to take care for Tammy?”

Chelsea’s mind started to create a miserable story, and Celia couldn’t help but wonder why she was now the one offering comfort. “Why have I been. encountering so many crying young women lately?” she thought to herself.

Gently wiping away Chelsea’s tears, Celia tried to console her. “Alright, alright. It

move on.

However, deep down, Celia couldn’t help but question why it always fell on her to be the one comforting others.

Chelsea wiped her tears and sniffled. “You’re right, Celia. You deserve someone better. But I can’t help but feel that Dominic is the only man that deserves you.”

Celia’s lips twitched slightly, wondering why they couldn’t just skip discussing

Dominic.

But Chelsea quickly contradicted herself. “Actually. Dominic isn’t that amazing. He’s always obsessed with that hypocritical Grace. His taste is terrible, and he even has an ex–wife! He’s got such a messy personal life. How can he possibly deserve you, my sweet Celia?”

Celia nodded in agreement. It was true, and she saw no reason to dwell on this topic any longer. “Um, let’s just…”

“There have been some significant changes in the Dawson family lately,” Chelsea. informed Celia. “A lot of people have been laid off, and even Arthur has been affected. I’m not sure what’s going to happen next.

Celia, who was curious about the Burton family’s affairs, hadn’t paid much attention to the Dawson family simply because she didn’t care enough. However, the news caught her by surprise. “Arthur got caught up in all of this too? Really?”

After all, Arthur was appointed by Dominic’s grandfather, Adam Dawson, and had been by Dominic’s side for many years, solving numerous problems. It was unexpected that he had suddenly been pushed aside.

Celia had initially planned to get rid of Arthur, but she knew that if she did, it would clash with Dominic’s plans and complicate things even further. So, she decided to temporarily shelve the plan.

However, it seemed that Arthur had found himself in trouble without her

intervention.

Chelsea chimed in, equally surprised. “You never know, maybe Arthur somehow upset Dominic. It’s been the talk of the town lately. Arthur has offended so many people in the past, and now without the protection of the Dawson family, let’s see how he manages.”

Celia let out a helpless sigh. Deep down, she couldn’t help but feel that this was all part of the Dawson family’s scheme. She believed it was more likely for the sun to rise from the west than for Dominic to fire Arthur.

However, she simply let the matter be, knowing that intervening would only

create more trouble.

While Celia was thinking about what had happened, her phone rang with a strangely familiar number. She knew she wouldn’t forget those numbers.

Celia had erased all Dawson’s family contacts after divorcing Dominic. However, at first glance, she could still identify the number–it was Arthur calling her.

“Why didn’t you answer the call? It showed up as an unknown number,” Chelsea asked.

Celia pressed the end call button. “It’s nothing.”

“Oh.”

A short while later, the phone rang once again.

“I’ll take this call on the balcony,” Celia told Chelsea.

“Okay, dinner is almost ready, so be quick.”

Celia nodded, walked over to the balcony, and answered the call, her tone immediately becoming cold and serious. “What do you want?”

Arthur’s voice erupted in anger. “Celia, you wicked bitch! What have you told Dominic? Let me tell you, if you don’t convince him to reinstate me, I won’t let you off the hook!”

Celia couldn’t help but laugh upon hearing Arthur’s words. “I clearly remember you telling me earlier that I needed to rely on you to get close to Dominic. What’s going on now?”

“Celia, you’re such a conniving bitch! This is all because of you, you jerk! I’ll give you one hour to talk to Dominic and make sure he reinstates me!” Arthur shouted angrily.

Celia couldn’t help but roll her eyes at the bullshit coming from Arthur. Talking to someone so stupid seemed like a complete waste of time.

The idea of calling Dominic was laughable, as if that would ever happen in her this lifetime. Celia had no intention of reaching out to him.

With a sigh, she hung up.

However, Arthur’s rage drove him to call again. “If you don’t tell me, I’ll go to your family’s company right now and make a scene. I’ll let everyone know how cheap you are! I’m going to let everyone know that you used to be married to Dominic.”

Celia squinted slightly, considering Arthur’s threat. Are you really willing to expose that I was once Dominic’s wife? Don’t forget, we both signed confidentiality agreements with the Dawson and Burton families.”

Celia would never betray Dominic by revealing the secret he had asked her to keep, and she was determined to seal their past.

Arthur sneered, “I’m already at the end of my rope anyway, so I’ll definitely bring you down with me. I’ll let everyone know that you were just a woman Dominic played with for ten years. Your whole life…”

Unfazed by his words, Celia hung up again and added Arthur’s number to her blacklist.

With a determined expression, she dialed Dominic’s number and typed a detailed text. She explained the situation and sent the recording threats.

of Arthur’s

She was aware that he was more interested in keeping the secret than she was. He, more than anyone else, wanted it to remain a secret that anything existed. between the two of them.

After sending the text, Celia decided to replace her SIM card with a new one for her phone since removing any traces of connection to the Dawson family was necessary, despite having numerous contacts and being hesitant about the inconvenience. Meanwhile, Dominic received a text, and upon seeing the sender’s name as “Mrs. Dawson,” he hesitated for a moment before checking it. As he listened to the attached recording, his expression grew increasingly serious.

Dominic immediately replied, “I will handle it.”

However, he deleted that message and rephrased it: “Arthur won’t come near you again. I will get rid of him.”

He deleted it again, as he never usually spoke in that manner. After a few revisions, he replied briefly: “Okay.”

He threw his phone aside while frowning, suddenly feeling restless.

Even he didn’t understand why he had suddenly become so emotionally

entangled.

After a pause, Dominic edited another text message: “Let’s meet tomorrow afternoon at 2 o’clock at our old favorite restaurant. I have something important to discuss with you.”
