EMMA

It was only a six-hour drive back to our territory; we could have gone back last night but I wanted more time with Ki. EJ is going to be over the moon when I tell him about finding his sister. Finally, we pulled in front of the pack house, where the Alpha, my brother Mav, and EJ were outside waiting.

I jumped out of the car and ran to EJ, “Why weren’t you home last night, did something happen? Greg said you decided to spend the night in town before coming back.” EJ asked frantically. “Listen EJ I have something very important I need to discuss with you.”

I said smiling reassuring him it was not anything bad. Before EJ could ever respond Mav chimed in. “Emma,” I turned to see him sniffing the air around me. “What is that smell, it smells like fruity pebbles.” Well, I was around Ki, and her friends, oh wait, I slept in her room, and usually strong scents like that is when you are smelling, oh boy. “Well, looks like I need to talk to you both.”

We were now sitting in Mav’s office with both of them sitting facing me with curiosity, I could tell they were nervous and starting to grow impatient. “Okay, both of you no interruptions, no questions, nothing until I finish what I have to say. Promise?” They nodded in agreement, and so I began telling them about the fighting ring and how it would be good to train warriors at the ring from time to time, even though both of ours lost in the battle, they learned new techniques. “Why was that so important for both of us?” EJ questioned and Mav knitted his eyebrows probably wondering the same thing. “Well, this is the part where you both stay hushed.” “We met the with the two fighters that beat our warriors and there two friends.” I took a deep breath trying to remain calm, I knew how much this would mean to EJ. “Their names were Jake, Dylan, Cammy, and Micaiah.”

As soon as I said the name EJ snapped his head in my direction. “Emma, did you just say Micaiah?” “Yes EJ, I found Ki, it was her and her friends we stayed with last night. Before you ask why I did not call you right away there is a story I must tell you.” He sat directly in front of me ready to listen. “After the fighting ring we all went to a diner where me and her got into an argument sort of speak.

I yelled at her asking why she was being some spoiled little girl, and why she would continue doing this to you.” I took a deep breath knowing this was harder than I thought it would be. “She had turned to me, and I knew her wolf was on the surface, she screamed at me at told me why she did what she did. EJ, she didn’t want you to think she was a murderer.” “What are you talking about, Emma?” “EJ, she lied to us she was never all right after you left to join me here. Your uncle verbally abused her, and one night came in, she said he was like a rabid animal. He began choking her with his claws extended, he tried to kill her. So, she did what any adult would do but she did it as a teenager. EJ, she killed your uncle to survive and ran because she did not think anyone would believe her and she did not want you to think she murdered him in cold blood.”

We sat in silence for a few moments as he took in all this information. “What, my baby sister, I can’t believe I left her all alone. What she must have gone through.” “EJ, she and I talked before I left, and she would rather me tell you and I agreed, you needed to let this sink in before you rushed to her. She also does not plan on meeting you here.” “What do you mean Emma. She is my baby sister and all this time I thought she was gone. I want to see her.” “We know we discussed this, but she wants you to see her for who she is now. Not the innocent little girl you once knew but the twenty-one-year-old woman who can definitely manage herself. She wants you to accept who she is, for who she is.” “I understand Emma.”

I had another idea in my head I just need to play it off without suspicion. “Mav, I would like for you to go with us, pick out your four best fighters besides us three and we will go to the fighting ring as well to show you what I was meaning about the techniques.” “I agree, I would like to see what we can do to improve our fighting skills for our pack.” I nodded and headed to shower, see my son. I knew we were going back tomorrow.

After I put Kyle down for bed I went back to our room where I saw EJ sitting on the edge of the bed waiting for me. “Emma.” “Yes EJ.” “What are you not telling me.” “Honey, I love you, but you need to see with your own two eyes. The one thing I can tell you is my little side plan. Remember when I arrived, and the scent Mav smelled?” “Yeah, it was weird like you smelled like his mate.”

I just looked at him wide eyed hoping he would catch on, but it went straight over his head. “Wow, babe you are slower these days. Last night I slept in Ki’s room, she knew you would be more comfortable if I slept alone and being in her room, I would not smell of another man. So, I believe that Ki is,”

I was interrupted when realization hit him. “She is Maverick’s mate.” “Ding, ding, ding we have a winner. So, when they meet, you won’t have to beg her to come back if her mate is here with us.” “I love you, Emma.” “I love you to now let’s get some sleep we all have a big day tomorrow.” With that we both fell fast asleep; tomorrow was going to be quite interesting.

I was woken up by pattering on the floor. When I opened my eyes, I seen Kyle running around playing with his toys, EJ nowhere in sight. “Hey baby boy.” “Mama.” As werewolves the children grow quite faster than the rest.

“Why you leave again mama?” “Well baby we are going to go visit some friends and we are going to be bringing you Aunt Ki back with us.” “Yay, I am so excited to meet her.” “Now go run and play with the other pups’ downstairs, I need to get ready.” He smiled and grabbed a few toys and headed downstairs. I showered and changed into some blue jeans, a blue tank matching EJ’s eyes, with my combat boots. I spent most of the morning with Kyle, I knew Mav and EJ were at the training sessions picking out four of our top fighters.

They chose Erin, William, Anna, and our best fighter besides us three Shawn. At 5pm we are ready I explained how long the drive was and when the fights began. I also had already called ahead knowing a few wolves there to set our fighters up with Ki, and her three friends. I knew if Mav seen them fight, he would welcome them, Ki would never leave them behind. I take a deep breath hoping everything would run smoothly and I knew during the fight I would have to keep Mav and EJ calm and in their place.
