Frederic had never talked to me nicely, let alone humbly. 

After what happened in my previous life, I finally realized I wasn’t the right one for him. 

But that wasn’t the case for Ruben. He hadn’t been reborn. Now that Emilia wanted to break up with him so soon, he didn’t take it well. 

He drank nonstop to get drunk. 

Sitting beside him, I watched sympathetically and wanted to persuade him to accept it. Otherwise, he’d become Frederic’s target and end up more miserably. But I was also upset How could Frederic separate them so easily? 

“Sylvia, I love her so much. My family isn’t rich. I know I’m not good enough for her, but I’ll work hard…” Ruben got tipsy. 

I nodded. “Yeah, I know.” 

“She had many suitors, but she chose me. I was excited and swore I’d make her happy. But…but why has she changed? What should I do? I’m heartbroken…” Ruben said, his eyes red. 

He meant to refill his glass again. Feeling bad for him, I put my hand on his to stop him. “Don’t be sad. What if she hasn’t? Think about it. The message was from a pursuer of hers. He hasn’t won her heart. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have asked for a chance, right?” 

Ruben shook his head with a bitter smile. “It’s different this time. If it were before, she’d have told me about it frankly and said it was nothing.” 

“Maybe she had a reason and didn’t know how to tell you. I’ll have dinner with her and talk to her.” I tried to comfort him. 

“Thanks, Sylvia.” He forced a smile. 

“Don’t mention it. We’re friends!” I patted him on the shoulder. 

After a while, Ruben was too drunk to keep his eyes open. Trying to support him while leaving the club, I almost fell to the floor with him. 

Luckily, rooms were available at Glitter Club. I got one upstairs and asked a waiter to help me take Ruben to the room. I was leaving after settling him down when his phone rang. 

It was a call from Emilia, so I answered his phone. 

“Ruben, where are you?” she asked worriedly. 

“Emilia, it’s me. Ruben is at Glitter Club. You can come and find him,” I said. 

“Sylvia? Why are you…” Emilia was confused. 

I told her what happened. After a while of silence, she said, “It was all my fault. I’ve blacklisted that man. I’ll get a new phone number tomorrow!” 

I thought, “Silly girl, it’s useless. Frederic will still find you even if you get a new identity.” 

I asked, “Emilia, who was that man? What’s his name? Can you tell me?” 

After a moment of hesitation, Emilia answered, “Sylvia, wait for me. We’ll talk when I get there.” 

I waited for her patiently and texted Frederic, reminding him that it 

would be my father’s birthday in two days. According to our traditions, he should go to my parents‘ place with me. 

Before long, Emilia got to the club. Seeing how drunk Ruben was, she was sad. I comforted her. She finally calmed down and said, “Sylvia, I can’t tell you who the man was. I can only tell you that he’s married and I want nothing to do with him.” 

Emilia’s eyes were red and swollen. She must’ve been crying lately. 

I asked, “How do you know he’s married? Did you run a background check on him?”
