“It hired my ex–boyfriend with an 8,000–dollar salary.”
Camila was mad whenever she thought about it.
“He hasn’t been working for six months. All he does is play video games at home. The boss of Startak Gaming is so stupid. Why would he hire someone so lazy? And he even offers my ex 8,000 dollars per month.”
Maxwell choked on his pasta.
Camila hurriedly fetched him a glass of water.
“You’re shocked by the number too, right? 8,000 dollars. Your salary is 5,000 dollars per month. Maybe you should try to apply for a job in Startak Gaming.”

He flushed and didn’t recover after a long time.

hire someone else.”
The next morning, Camila got up early to make a hearty breakfast.
During breakfast, Gideon suddenly asked, “Maxwell, where did you sleep last night?”
Maxwell went rigid and sneaked a peek at Camila.
“I’m talking to you. Why did you look at Camila?”
“I had some work to do and slept in the study since I didn’t want to wake up

“You’re newlywed. Forget about your work for a while and spend more time with Camila.” Gideon paused and continued saying, “Why don’t you go for a honeymoon?”
“A honeymoon?” Maxwell turned to Camila. “Did you bring it up?”
“No. I never said anything.” Camila didn’t know how Gideon figured out Maxwell didn’t spend the night in their room.
The look on Maxwell’s face showed that he didn’t believe her.
“Don’t blame Camila. I want to have great–grandchildren. Hurry up or you’ll have to
answer to me.”

Getting scolded, Maxwell felt the breakfast was tasteless.

Raven watched them by the door. She remembered the premarital agreement she found in Camila’s room while cleaning.
If Gideon found out Maxwell and Camila agreed to divorce in six months, maybe he would be completely disappointed in Camila.
In this case, Chloe might have a chance.
Camila called the company and asked for a leave. She left home and went straight to the hospital.
Gemma’s surgery was next week. She needed to do a series of exams this week.
After the ward round in the morning, Camila met Dewitt Booker, Gemma’s attending doctor.
Dewitt was a handsome gentleman. It was said that he had studied abroad and it was an elite among the young doctors.
Dewitt talked to Camila in detail about Gemma’s condition. He was patient and

The nurses in the nursing station were jealous.

“Quiet. Dr. Laxton is here.” The two nurses hurriedly shut up and pretended to be
working.
Chloe walked past the nursing station and glanced at the nurses. She asked the ones who were gossiping earlier, “What were you talking about earlier?”

Chloe peeked inside the doctor’s office. A young woman was sitting in front of Dewitt with her back to Chloe.
With her ponytail and fair skin, the woman looked like a college student.
Chloe couldn’t hear them, but she saw Dewitt smile after the woman said something.
Dewitt’s warm smile was like the sun in the winter and a breeze in the summer.
Chloe was attracted to Dewitt because of his smile. During the three years they were abroad, Chloe had courted Dewitt for three years. But no matter how hard she tried, Dewitt never treated her more than his friends.
Chloe’s face darkened in a second.
“Who’s the patient?” Chloe asked.
“No. 23. That woman is her granddaughter.”
“The patient with terminal cancer?” Chloe was reminded. “I remember that she hasn’t paid for her surgery, right?”
“She paid the deposit. But she still needs to pay more than 67,000 dollars.”
“Well. Don’t schedule the surgery unless she fulfills the payment.”
“But she’s Dr. Booker’s patient.” The nurse didn’t expect that Chloe would be so
petty.
“I’m in charge of scheduling operations. I have to make arrangements for the patients who have paid. Do as I say. Tell Dr. Booker to talk to me if he has a problem with it.”
Dewitt showed Camila how critical Gemma’s condition was. Camila couldn’t help but cry.
Dewitt handed Camila a tissue and comforted her. “Don’t worry. Her condition won’t worsen as long as she has the surgery in time.”

Camila was too tired to climb higher. She stood next to the elevator, hoping to get
a free ride.
The elevator door opened behind her. A middle–aged man came out. There was
another man behind him.
But when the man saw Camila, he immediately stepped back into the elevator and pressed the button to close the door.
