Happy?

Somewhat annoyed of the suddenly crowded house, Rebecca decides to turn her afternoon jog into a morning one too.

Having run for almost an hour in wolf form, she stops and drinks at the river nearby.

But she notices a large lion coming out of the trees, walking towards her.

Rolling her eyes as best as a wolf could, she shifts, with the lion following soon after.

They both stand tall and completely naked in front of each other. Rebecca was always confident with her body. And Mike was never the shy type either. He didn’t even bother trying to hide arousal for her.

“Damn, you’re beautiful.” The curly haired man says with that tempting smile of his.

“You’re such a caveman.” She says annoyed, knowing he’s just full of himself.

“I’m just a man that knows what he wants. And I have no problem going after it.” He slowly approaches.

She keeps distance between them and speaks annoyed. “So what is this? You just want a quick lay so you can finally be on your way and annoy the next girl that comes your way.”

He growls with annoyance. “Gggrrhh!! ……There will be nothing quick about me fucking you, especially when you’ll be mine.”

He grabs her arm and calls out to her dearly. “Love, I don’t think you’re taking me seriously. And it’s starting to work on my nerves, especially when I’m being very honest.” He stands closer to her, making their bodies’ heat mix, as he gently combs her blonde flowy hair with his fingers.

She challenges his gaze. “How can I take you seriously? You know nothing about me. And all you ever do is look at me like you want to own me. And I’m not the kind of girl that is owned,….by anyone.”

“So you just like a challenge then?”

“No. I like you.” He answers immediately.

She furrows her brows. “Is it a reflex for you to just speak out of your ass?”

“Sweetheart. You have no idea how much I’m trying to hold back on everything I actually want to say to you right now. But I don’t think you’re ready for that yet.” He smirks again.

But she’s curious now. Her wolf doesn’t want to back down from such a challenge either. “I’m a big girl. I think can handle myself.”

He gives a pleased smirk as he gently grabs her by the neck and whispers in her face. “In this very moment, I can’t stop thinking about how much I want to watch you riding my cock and hear you screaming my name as you come on me.”

She gulps loudly and he chuckles deeply. “So you better believe me when I say, that I want you to be mine. Not for a quick fuck. Not to own you, but because you already own me, Love. Fuck everyone else and your chosen alpha mate. My eyes only see you anyways. So,…” He pulls back wanting to get a better look at the emotions on her face. “The day you agree to be mine, I can finally stop holding myself back with you. I’ll show you what you deserve, what you’re worth. You’ll be my pride, my queen, the only one I’ll ever kneel for.” He says as he kneels and sniffs her clenched thighs with a naughty smirk.

She knows the double meaning behind those words with just a look at that annoying smirk of his.

“You forgot one thing.” She gets him to look up at her. “So what if I believe you? Whatever made you think that I want you???”

She smiles at the loss of his smirk.

Just as she turns and tries to walk away, he stands up and pulls on her arm.

As she looks back, she can see an almost hurt look on his face. She quickly steels herself to not fall for his playful tricks.

“Is this really what you want?” He asks in a serious tone.

She raises a questioning brow.

“Do you really want him?”

Him? Who? Nicholas?

“Why wouldn’t I?” She says as she reminds herself that this is what she worked for all these years. She put in the time and effort and it’s time for her rewards. I deserve it.

“No. Look at me.” He pulls her closer, clearly not being a playful tease anymore. “It hurts as fuck hearing that you don’t want me. But do you really want him? Does he make you happy?” He looks into her confused eyes waiting for a response. “Answer me.” He sounds almost agitated for the answer.

Happy?.………I gave up on that ridiculous pursuit years ago. It’s just a childish dream. No one can rely on just love to keep them happy. People are selfish and stupid. And feelings change constantly. Why should I ever rely on someone’s affections for me to keep me happy? All I want is loyalty, stability and power. At least then I’ll have some control over my life. And that is what will make me happy.

Feeling the grasp on her arm tightening, she lets out an annoyed huff.

“Supposed love stories with happy endings are for children.” She pulls his hand off of her arm. “I don’t live my life craving for people’s affections. It’s pathetic. So don’t waste yours on me.”

She turns, jogs back into the forest before shifting again.

Mike is left alone, with a heartbreakingly sad look on his face.

How could such a beautiful and fierce woman not want happiness out of life? She deserves it.

What is it that she wants? What is she trying so hard to fight for? Power? Is that what she wants from the alpha?

No. She’s not the type. She’s not power hungry. I know she can come off as cold, but she’s just honest and speaks her mind. She’s a good person, with a soft heart. A heart she’s trying so hard to guard from everyone and everything.

Even though I already made my choice, she has a right to make her own as well. But whatever she chooses, I’ll be her shield. I’ll live in her shadow all my life, if that’s what it takes for me to see her smile just once.

It’s pathetic. I know. But I’ve always been a hopeless romantic. And I’ve always wanted the chance to spoil the one I would choose with all my corny treats.

I just never thought I’d be turned down like this. But I don’t regret it. I don’t regret choosing her. She’s worth it.

Even if I’m not.
