Chapter 54 

It calmed Sophie’s mind. 

For some reason, Roger seemed to have some kind of magic about him. 

It made her feel inexplicably at ease, and she slowly settled down and closed her eyes. 

Seeing that Sophie was really leaning against him, the corners of Roger’s lips involuntarily curled up. He happily allowed her to rest against him like that. 

It was the first time Dillon had seen Roger being so close to someone else. 

At that moment, he seemed to understand that Roger was helping Sophie probably because he was really interested in her. 

Soon, they arrived home. 

Perhaps it was because Sophie was too tired, she did not wake up. 

After waiting for a while, Roger called out to her, “Sophie, wake up.” 

Unexpectedly, Sophie went back to sleep after shifting her position slightly. 

It seemed that the whole day of events had tired her out. 

“Mr. Roger… do you want me to help you carry Ms. Sophie out of the car?” asked Dillon. 

Roger’s eyes darkened a little and he said calmly, “There’s no need. Just open the door.” 

“Oh…” Dillon could sense that Roger seemed a bit unhappy for some reason, but he didn’t think too much and got out of the car to open the door. 

Roger then gently carried Sophie and got out of the car. 

Her body was very light, and he was already very used to holding her. 

“Watch your step,” Dillon reminded. 

Roger shot a cold glance at the driver, “Do you think I’m really blind?” 

Dillon felt embarrassed. “I’m so used to reminding you, sorry…” 

Roger sneered and said nonchalantly, “You may leave now.”

“Yes.” Dillon nodded, got back into the car, and immediately drove away. 

Other servants hurriedly opened the door for them.

Roger’s gaze returned to its unfocused state, and he walked into the house in big strides while holding Sophie. 

All the servants couldn’t help but sweat for him. 

However, everyone knew that Roger was stubborn. He had memorized the whole layout of the house and did not allow anyone to support him at home. Therefore, they could only watch as he carried Sophie into the house. 

It wasn’t until they entered the elevator that everyone breathed a sigh of relief. 

Two young servants could not help but murmur, “If others saw Mr. Roger carrying his wife into the elevator effortlessly, they would definitely think that he was a normal person.” 

“Yeah, you really can’t tell that there’s anything wrong with his eyes.” 

The old servant at the side sighed. “What do you know? In the early years, Mr. Roger had to 

fall countless times every day in order to remember every position in the house. He often 

got bruises all over his body. All of this is the payoff for his efforts… He just didn’t want to burden his family.” 

Upon hearing this, the new servants felt bad. “Mr. Roger is a pitiful man.” 

“That’s right. Fortunately, he is blessed to have married such a good wife. With Mrs. Sophie around, Mr. Roger goes downstairs more often and becomes more talkative now,” one servant said. 

Another servant echoed, “That’s right… This is Mr. Roger’s blessing.” 

The servants sincerely wished them well. 

Upstairs, Roger had carried Sophie back to the bed. 

After putting her down, he unexpectedly stumbled and fell next to her. Sophie’s arm was 

still on him, and she unintentionally pressed him down. 

The sweet fragrance of the woman’s perfume immediately wafted over. 

Roger could not help but tense all over.

However, he was afraid of waking her up, so he could only slowly and gently move her hand away and try to escape from the bed. 

To his surprise, she wrinkled her brows and wrapped her arms around him tightly. She even lifted her legs and put them over him. 

It seemed like she took him for a huge pillow. 

Her thigh happened to touch his sensitive area, and he instantly felt a warmth in his lower 

abdomen. 

‘Damn it… Doesn’t this woman know this is seduction and it will get me aroused? 

Occasionally undressing in front of me is one thing, but now she is hugging him tightly and not letting go! Does she think I’m a saint?‘ 

Taking a deep breath, Roger closed his eyes and clamped down his body’s instinctive reaction. After a long exhale, he moved her hand away once again, slowly maneuvered out from under her legs, and awkwardly got off the bed. 

“Sophie… You’re such a seductive little demon.” Roger stood by the bedside in a sorry state and tried his best to suppress his desire. He quickly covered her with a blanket and turned to leave the bed. 

However, the feeling of her touch lingered on his body for a long while. 

He could only grit his teeth helplessly and go to the bathroom to take a cold shower. 

That night, Sophie slept particularly sweetly. 

Little did she know… Roger had spent a good half hour under cold water to wash away his burning desire. 

The dream was long and seemingly inescapable like an endless maze. 

Sophie kept searching for people in the dream and finally found the Dawson family – her parents and her brothers. However, they surrounded her and questioned her. 

“Why did you show up?” 

“Why are you disturbing the peace in our family?” 

“We don’t want you.”

Her brothers‘ words became increasingly harsh. 

Sophie shook her head vigorously and shouted, “I… I’m not a cripple!” 

However, the dream changed in an instant. She suddenly found herself standing on the steps of the Bourn family again. Before she could react, someone suddenly pushed her from behind. 

Then, she rolled down and her body lay heavily on the ground. Raising her head with difficulty, she saw Laura’s terrifying face. “Sophie, you’re going to be a cripple! From now on, you’ll be in a wheelchair!” 

“No! No!” Sophie screamed and woke up abruptly. 

The minute she opened her eyes, she quickly sat up and checked her legs, desperately moving them a couple of times. 

Hearing Sophie’s voice, Roger hurriedly got up and went to her side. When he saw her touching her legs with sweat covering her forehead, he understood everything. 

“Did you have a nightmare?” Roger asked gently. 

Without responding to his question, Sophie continued to touch her legs and said in bewilderment, “My legs are healed… My legs can move…” 

She was so relieved to learn that it was just a dream. 

To her, the feeling of becoming paralyzed again was horrifying. 

Sensing her trembling, Roger sat down beside the bed and reached out to touch her face. 

He looked at her with a deep gaze and said, “Don’t be afraid. It’s just a dream. Your legs are healed. You don’t need to sit in a wheelchair in the future.” 

His eyes were unfocused, but they were so deep that Sophie found it difficult to look away. 

The void inside her prompted her to hug him suddenly. 

She felt grateful and happy that she was not paralyzed now. Moreover, she had someone to protect her.
