To be exact, George was not a native of Sloummont. 

He had just moved to Sloummont for his business! Aside from other distant relatives in this city, the Lambert family was also one of the distant relatives with whom he had tried to establish connections.. 

The leader of the Lambert family, Bradley Lambert, was someone that George had never dared to disturb. 

Thus, the one George intended to meet that day was Miguel Lambert, the eldest son of Bradley. Although they were about the same age, in their forties, Miguel held a much higher status. 

Upon meeting Miguel, George immediately asked for help. “Miguel, I don’t understand why my company has suddenly come under attack.”

George knew that he had a business mind himself. 

The reason that he was able to become an upstart in the prosperous Sloummont was not only due to the help he received from the Lambert family, who had a deep foundation in the prosperous city. It was also because of his effort to wheel and deal.

With this, George believed that Miguel would not leave him to handle the situation all by himself.

With a disdainful glance, Miguel scoffed at George and said, “The Lambert family definitely has no fear of a mere bodyguard. Still, you should understand that this bodyguard represents the Levine family! He is doing this under the name of Ragnar!” 

He went on, “Of course, even Ragnar has to show some respect to us of the Lambert family. However, it was Val who offended someone; this matter would be easily solved as long as she apologizes to the offended party. Is it even worth it to owe the Levine family a favor for the sake of helping Val with the support of the Lambert family?” 

“Yes, I understand,” George answered Miguel’s comments. 

When George got home, he called Valeria at once and interrogated her. “What have you done recently? Did you offend anyone? Especially anyone related to the Levine family!” 

Valeria brooded over his question for a long time, trying to recall. 

She mumbled, “I admit that I have sent someone to attack Liliana, while that damn woman Josephine was also there and seemed injured. Other than both of them, I did not offend anyone else!” 

Since George had become Liliana’s stepfather when he married Liliana’s mother, he had knowledge about Liliana’s family condition. 

Yet, he was not angered even when he learned that Valeria ordered someone to hit Liliana. 

Without caring about his stepdaughter, he threw out another question. “Who is Josephine? Is she related to the Levine family?” 

Valeria rolled her eyes in annoyance and snorted. “Josephine is the girl I hated the most in school previously! She’s also a shameless woman who has been pestering Charles! But, come to think of it…” 

“But what?” George inquired. 

His question forced Valeria to speak the truth. “She was hired as a nanny for the Levine family about a month ago.” 

Instinctively, George knew that whatever happened to them had to be connected to Josephine. 

He then instructed Valeria to apologize to Josephine. 

Without a doubt, Valeria adamantly refused to comply with his order. 

She shouted in disbelief, “Dad, are you becoming muddle–headed? How could you ask me to apologize to a babysitter? She’s just a shameless bitch! It’s wishful thinking to expect me to apologize to that woman!” 

Registering his daughter’s immature behavior, George shot her an angry look. His voice became harsh as he snapped, saying, “Our company is on the brink of bankruptcy now! And those publicized scandals of yours, don’t you think it has anything to do with that babysitter? Even though she is a mere babysitter, she is also a babysitter of the Levine family!” 

George started to drag Valeria, attempting to force her to beg for Josephine’s forgiveness. 

Valeria shouted in panic, “I’m not going with you! Even if I were to lose my life, I would never apologize to that bitch! Forget it!” 

George felt bys blood start to boil. 

He raised his hand, and subsequently, a loud smack landed on Valeria’s cheek. 

Valeria was shocked by his action. She had never expected her dear father would hit her. 

With her hands covering her aching cheeks, she looked at George with widened eyes. In utter disbelief, she exclaimed, “Dad, how could you hit me for this little thing?”

Valeria dashed out of the door in despair.

As she ran into the crowd of media reporters and paparazzi surrounding the gate of her villa, she smashed one of the cameras onto the floor and cussed, saving. “Get lost! Get out of my way!” 

Valeria pushed her way through the crowd regardless. 

After successfully escaping from the press, she headed to the bar alone for a drink. 

After a few continuous pints of alcohol, Valeria reached for her phone and dialed Charles‘ number. 

“Charles… I’m at the bar. Could you come to me? I got slapped by my father,” she begged while sobbing in distress. 

“…” Charles blurted with hesitation in his tone. He did not instantaneously rush to her. 

Valeria hung up the call as she heard the hesitation in his voice. Still alone in the private room, she continued downing glasses of alcohol one after another. 

Feeling terrible, she stepped out of the private room with an alcohol bottle in her grasp, then headed toward the dance floor outside. The loud music blasted, and her body swayed vigorously along with the melody. 

As time passed, she exhausted her energy from dancing. The bottle of alcohol had also been finished by her. 

Valeria threw away the empty bottle mindlessly. 

She then returned to her private room with her unsteady footsteps. 

Just at that moment, the five men in the corner noticed Valeria’s presence. Chuckling and hinting at each other, they started to tail her to her room. 

Upon stumbling into the room, Valeria finally noticed the presence of a few intruders. She asked, “Who are you guys?” 

The leading man smirked and flirted, saying, “Missy, isn’t it boring to drink by yourself? We are here to join and accompany you, of course!” 

While they continued to exchange jokes, they approached Valeria gradually. 

Just then, a waitress was being picked on outside the bar’s private room. 

It was because the waitress was tripped by someone. To be exact, she was unsure whether the person did it on purpose. When that happened earlier, she lost her balance and accidentally spilled the drinks onto the lap of another guest. 

“I’m terribly sorry.” She hurriedly apologized. 

Even so, he insisted on his demand for her to clean the drink off his thigh! 

To wipe such a sensitive part clean… 

Flustered, the waitress tried to wipe the stain with a piece of tissue.
