a secluded place to drop Victoria and the children off.

Nicole and Nathan grow up these five years. They’re adorable, and you’re a 

great person. I…” He could not continue the rest but stuffed the cash into her 

hand. “You should hurry up and leave. The longer you stay in one place, the 

larger the risk of exposing your location.” 

Once he finished, he returned to the car, looking like he did not intend to say 

anything more. 

Victoria bit her lip. She had already left with him, so saying anything else now 

would only make her hypocritical. Therefore, she gave him a deep look and 

thanked him before quickly leaving with her children.

“Where is she?” Bane’s tone still sounded light, but Ethan knew this was the 

calm before the storm. 

He smiled before meeting Bane’s eyes. “I don’t know where they went. We split 

up halfway.” 

When Bane heard that, he felt his temples pulsing. “Why?” 

With pursed lips, Ethan answered, “No reason. I wanted to do it, so I did.” 

“Is it because I punished you?” Bane straightened his glasses. “Is this your way

“No.” Ethan shook his head. “To be more precise, you gave me this job, so even 

if you punish me, I will never get back at you.” Once he got to that, he tried to 

persuade Bane. “Mr. Morison, you should stop now before things get worse.” 

Bane looked at him, and the gentleness on his face disappeared. “I should stop 

now?” 

“Mr. Morison, do you know why Miss Selwyn held back from calling the cops 

when she could?” 

Bane pursed his lips but did not answer. 

“If she had called the cops back then, what would things be like now? Mr. 

Morison, she still has a glimmer of hope for you and doesn’t want to hurt you. 

Please, stop whatever this is, and you can still be friends with her.” 

“Friends?” That word made Bane laugh. His laughter sounded scornful at first, 

but then it became louder like he was laughing about something funny. 

Ethan stood on the side, quietly looking at him with sorrowful eyes. 

When Bane stopped laughing, his expression changed as he stared at Ethan
