When Nicole heard someone knocking, she immediately looked toward Nathan and 

then agreed to let Alaric enter the room after receiving Nathan’s approval. 

Once the door opened, the two little fellows looked at the two large bags in Alaric’s 

hands. Nicole unconsciously looked into the bags and unwittingly asked, “Mr. Night, did 

you buy something for us?” 

Right after asking, Nicole realized what she said and immediately covered her mouth 

while her watery eyes were filled with shock. 

Oh no! She had decided never to care about Mr. Knight anymore, but why did she ask 

him that after seeing the bags in his hands? 

“Yes, I did.” Alaric’s long, narrow eyes were filled with smiles as he sat down with the 

bags. “I asked Mr. Levane to buy you some food.” 

While he spoke, he took out the food inside the bags and placed them on the table. 

The two little fellows watched quietly with fisted hands as they stood in their spot.

Inside the quiet room, Alaric peeked at the two unmoving children out of the corner of 

his eyes before slowly placing everything on the table in a calm manner. 

It was until the table was filled to the max that he stopped moving. Then, he looked at 

the children. “You didn’t eat anything for dinner, right? Aren’t you hungry?” 

Nathan tugged his lips into a thin line. “I’m not hungry.” 

Meanwhile, Nicole was salivating at the food but immediately concurred after hearing. 

that, “I-I’m not hungry either.” 

But once she said that, her tummy rumbled. She blushed bright red and even covered 

her belly with her hands before running to Nathan’s side and whispering, “Nate, that 

was so embarrassing.” 

Her brother, Nathan, patted her shoulder to comfort her. 

Meanwhile, Alaric watched everything and felt amused. Did he have some sort of 

preconception for his children? Why did he think everything they did was cute? 

At that thought, Alaric smiled, and his voice unconsciously became even gentler. “Are 

you really not hungry? The food will turn cold if you don’t eat them, and they will 

become nasty.”

Angry, Nicole was still covering her belly while standing there, ignoring her hungry 

stomach. “I don’t want to eat anything you bought. Mommy wouldn’t be bleeding if it 

weren’t for you, and Nathan won’t eat the food too.”

Since she refused to eat, Nathan would have to do the same. Meanwhile, Nathan had 

no objections because it didn’t matter if he needed to stay hungry, but he was worried 

about Nicole, who was a foodie.

Nathan said nothing because he knew this would happen. That was because Nicole 

loved to eat and had never suffered from hunger, so she couldn’t stay hungry for long.

Just as Nathan thought she was about to give up and surrender, she gently tugged on 

his shirt and softly suggested, “Nathan, how about we get Mommy’s phone back and 

call Mr. Bane?” 

Nathan thought it was a good suggestion because Bane was the only person they 

could rely on now. But he wasn’t sure if Silent Night had paid for Victoria’s 

hospitalization fees and if he would return her phone if he asked for it.

“Nathan…” Before he could think any further, the hungry Nicole began tugging on his

the table and knelt before them. 

Seeing him before her, Nicole quickly turned away, not wanting to see him. 

Alaric gently poked the back of her head. “Are you very angry at me?”

Therefore, Alaric lowered his finger and poked at the back of her neck. “I was wrong, 

and I’m very sorry. Will you forgive me?” 

“No, I won’t!” Without considering it, Nicole instantly rejected him angrily. 

“It’s fine if you don’t forgive me, but are you not eating anything? What if you faint from 

being too hungry? Wouldn’t your mommy be worried if she didn’t see you when she 

woke up?”

was speaking to a child because Nicole immediately became flustered after hearing

Nicole asked, “For real?” 

Alaric nodded heavily. “For real.” 

Meanwhile, Nathan felt speechless because he felt Silent Night was trying to trick 

Nicole, but he didn’t want to expose the truth. After all, he didn’t want his younger sister 

to stay hungry. 

“Also, aren’t you guys mad at me? If you are, the more you shouldn’t stay hungry. You 

have to punish me.” 

“Punish you?” Nicole was intrigued by that suggestion. “How are we going to punish 

you?” 

Hearing that, Alaric pretended to be deep in thought and replied, “How about you

punish me by letting me treat you guys to a meal?” 

Once he said that, Nathan stayed silent while Nicole looked at him quizzically. 

“Is treating us to a meal considered a punishment?” 

“Of course. Buying you food costs money, so using my money to buy you food is 

considered a punishment.” 

After he spoke, he pinched Nicole’s cheeks. “Or are you thinking of letting someone 

else pay for your meal?” 

“Of course not!” Nicole was quick to fall for the trick and snorted softly. “Then, we’ll 

punish you by letting you buy us food until we grow old!” 

A smile appeared on Alaric’s face as he said, “Sure. It’s a deal.” Buying them food until 

they grew up just happened to be what he wanted. 

The famished Nicole was instantly persuaded, but her pride made her stand in place 

despite agreeing to the idea. 

When Alaric noticed that, he knew the young girl was still throwing a tantrum. After all, 

she was a young girl and his daughter, so he had to coax her. 

“Come on, I’ll bring you out to have some nice food.” After saying so, he stretched out 

his arms at her. 

Looking at the broad and warm embrace, Nicole blinked her eyes and fidgeted with her 

hands before slowly making her way toward him. 

Right after she approached Alaric, she was pulled into his embrace. “Let’s go.” 

On the other hand, Nathan didn’t expect his sister to get wooed away so quickly and 

thought of standing his ground when a hand appeared before him. “Nate, come with 

us.”
