Chapter 594

lan was silent for a long time after her action, feeling a sharp pain in his heart as if pricked by a needle.

And she quickly took over the sentence that was supposed to be a confession just now, “Mr. Raymond, stop

kidding.”

Having lived nearly twenty–four years, he’d never been insulted like this.

Without a word, he left.

He went downstairs, got in his car, and drove to Tyler and Fitch.

Tyler had planned a small party for lan in advance because he was getting divorced tomorrow, to congratulate him

on becoming single again.

lan didn’t see the need. In his own eyes, he’d always been single.

As soon as he walked into the room, Tyler began gossiping eagerly.

“You disappeared with Penny for three days. Tell me, is she still alive?”

lan didn’t say a word, enveloped in a gloomy aura.

Tyler immediately suspected that Penny was really wiped off the face of the earth.

They’d known lan for many years and had never seen him take such a hit.

That was a close call. He almost lost his life.

Fitch, sitting not far away, also looked at him curiously, curious whether that woman was still alive.

lan stared at the drink in his hand, took a sip, and tasted bitterness.

“Is this booze expired? Why is it bitter?”

There’s no way BlueSky Bar would have expired drinks with such strict management.

Moreover, the shelf life of alcohol was often over a decade, so it couldn’t possibly be expired.

Tyler took a sip of his own drink and savored the rich flavour.

“I think the bitterness is in your heart. What’s wrong, getting divorced and suddenly can’t bear to part with your

wife?”

lan’s fingers paused, and his eyelashes lowered.

“I confessed to Penny just now.”

“Good Lord!”

“Crash!”

“Crash!”

The exclamation was uttered by Tyler, followed by the sound of two glasses shattering.

One belonged to Tyler, the other to Fitch.

They’d known lan for many years but never heard of anyone who could almost get him killed and still receive a

confession from him.

Wasn’t that too pathetic?

Tyler and Fitch exchanged a look, seeing gravity in each other’s eyes.

Then Tyler asked.

“lan, do you like Penny?”

lan set down his glass and formally answered the question for the first time.

“I don’t know.”

Tyler frowned. Hadn’t lan dated Carlene before? How could he not know if he liked someone?

“Okay, then tell us where you took her these past few days?”

lan relayed his actions.

Tyler fell silent, as did Fitch.

He took her away for two days and then turned around to confess his feelings.

Unless Penny had lost her mind, she wouldn’t agree to him!

Tyler took a deep breath, unable to suppress a twitch at the corner of his mouth.

“So, what was your relationship with Carlene like when you were dating?”

This time, lan answered without hesitation.

“I bought her bags and jewellery.”

“Did you ever kiss her?”

“No.”

Did that even count as dating? It seemed more like keeping a pet that wasn’t important. After all, he had plenty of

money.

Tyler, a proficient screenplay writer, understood what all this meant.

This man had no clue what it meant to like someone.

His feelings for Carlene weren’t of affection, but he could forgive Penny for the near–death experience. If that

wasn’t liking, then what was it?

In their circle, life was more important than anything else.

But he didn’t understand. He was still lost when it came to feelings.

Why was he still lost?

“You must like Penny Be nicer to her and stop forcing her. Women don’t like that.”

Tyler poured him another drink, “You can’t win her over by oppression and coercion. It will only scare her. Women

only submit to gentleness.”
