“Do you have any specific requirements for the size of the studio?”

“As long as it’s not too small, I’d like it to have its own bathroom. It’s easier to clean up the art supplies.”

Maja hadn’t expected lan to have such specific demands. She nodded, “I got it.”

“Also, I prefer white walls because I’m planning to hang up a bunch of pieces from other artists. Keep that in mind.

The room will be decorated with art from both local and international artists, split into two sections.”

Different strokes for different folks, after all.

“Mr. Raymond, I got it.”

“Also, I’m not a fan of portraits.” In other words, no portrait art.

Maja smiled. Even though lan’s demands were piling on the work, he was the boss. His wish was her command.

“Given you were the last apprentice of Master Herbert, I’ll let you handle the art. Seven or eight pieces should do.”

Maja frowned. “Don’t you have any paintings in your collection?”

lan certainly did. He was deliberately messing with her. Instead of answering, he said, “You pick out some pieces; I’ll

foot the bill. There are a few auctions coming up; we should find some good pieces there. You can come with me.”

Maja didn’t want to go, but it was part of the job. She couldn’t let personal preferences interfere.

The prices at these auctions were sky–high. He wanted seven or eight pieces. That could easily run up to seventy or

eighty million. And that’s assuming each piece was ten million.

lan flipped through his schedule.

The next auction was in three days, and the organizers promised at least four pieces would be up for sale.

He wasn’t planning on attending, but if Penny was going, he didn’t mind.

“You’re coming with me to the auction in three days.”

That was an order.

He had a meeting scheduled that day, but he could have Jeff cancel it.

Maja wanted to argue, “As long as you and Ms. Shepard are satisfied with the art.”

“Maja, are you my designer, or is Carlene my designer?”

Maja was speechless. When she left the office, she felt agitated.

When she went to the washroom, she looked at herself in the mirror and was taken aback.

She composed herself. She couldn’t let him get to her. That would mean she cared about him.

She washed her face. When she looked up, she saw Carlene standing behind her.

Apparently, she had been waiting for her.

Maja ignored Carlene.

Carlene was applying makeup in the mirror, expressionless.

“No matter how close you get to lan, it won’t do you any good. He’s not going to marry you. Women who throw

themselves at men are cheap.” Maja’s injured hand hung by her side. At Carlene’s words, she smiled slightly.

“Aren’t you throwing yourself at lan, Ms. Shepard?”

Carlene’s face turned cold. She closed her compact, grabbed Maja’s injured hand, and moved it towards the hot

water tap.

The hand was important to Maja. The doctor had told her to take good care of it. So, Carlene’s action was like a

direct attack, on Maja.

Maja couldn’t take it anymore. She kicked Carlene in the stomach.

She was wearing high heels, so the kick was strong.

Carlene was thrown a meter away, hitting the stall door, dazed.

Maja felt a sharp pain in her hand. She was terrified. Would her hand be injured again?

If she couldn’t use her hand,Mája’s eyes flashed with anger. Again and again, this woman was trying to harm her!

Maja grabbed the soap dispenser and smashed the mirror.

She picked up a shard of glass and walked toward Carlene.

From the looks of things, she was planning to ruin Carlene’s face.

Carlene’s legs gave out, her pupils shrank, and she screamed, “What are you doing?”

Maja seemed to have lost her mind and kicked Carlene in the chest.

Carlene spat out blood..

“Penny, have you lost your mind?”

Maja seemed not to hear. She raised the glass shard to slash at Carlene’s face.

But her hand was stopped mid–air by another hand.

Carlene was lying on the floor, shaking uncontrollably. When she saw lan, she broke down crying.

“lan she’s crazy.”

She scrambled up and tried to throw herself into lan’s arms.
