Maja didn't waste any time. The very next day, she hailed a cab and headed over to the area near Shirley's college to snoop

around.

Meanwhile, lan received a call from Bernard.

Bernard had helped him out before, enabling lan to whisk Patric away from Greenfield safely. At that time, lan had promised

Bernard that he would get his hands on the research facility's data, especially since Bernard's own son had died there. The higher-

ups were taking a serious interest in the facility.

Part of the research facility's data had now made its way to the top brass, and it was tfor lan to be recognized for his efforts.

Bernard was on the line now, asking about Patric.

lan had been responsible for Patric's removal, so it was his duty to bring him back in one piece. But Patric had vanished, and no

one knew his whereabouts.

"Bernard, this is on me. My team is on it," lan admitted his mistake.

Bernard's tone was gentle, "Our people are looking too. I heard from Fitch you've been under the weather?"

"Just a bit off, nothing serious."

"Alright, take care of yourself."

Bernard hung up, deep in thought.

He turned to a colleague, "Any leads?"

"We're close. We've tracked down his last known location."

Bernard's lips curled into a faint smile, "Good, keep searching."

Somewhere on the planet.

Both of Phil's arms were wrapped in bandages as he picked up a bowl of porridge, intending to feed Philip.

Philip turned his head slightly, one eye covered by a black patch. That eye was lost.

The earthquake at the research facility had cost him an eye. In the chaos, his instinct was to protect Phil, who had only suffered

minor injuries.

Phil felt terribly guilty. If only he hadn't gone after that bug.

"Philip, I'm so sorry. This is all my fault."

"What's the use in saying that? You're not the one who's blind."

Philip snatched the bowl from Phil's hands and finished the porridge.

Phil pursed his lips, picked up a stick from the ground, and poised it towards his own eye.

"I can blind myself."

Philip grabbed his hand, his gaze intense.

Phil was a bit afraid, unsure whether to proceed.

Philip was a perfectionist who took pleasure in manipulating others.

But lately, nothing had gone according to plan.

The research facility was in ruins, they were stranded, and they had to dodge both the Sanders family and lan's people.

Philip had worked hard to rise within the facility. With control over the drugs, he could have been above most.

But lan had easily destroyed it all, making Philip's years of planning seem like a cruel joke.

A joke so cruel, it was killing him!

And now blind in one eye, he was consumed with bitterness.

His usual calmness had turned into frenzy.

Word had it that lan had been retrieved, Maja was pregnant, and the two were planning a wedding.

Damn it all to hell!

"Philip, I've still got scash. Let's find an island, forget all this. Islands have lots of leaves and bugs."

"Leaves, bugs? Is that all you aspire to in life? Don't ever claim to be my brother."

A hurt look flashed across Phil's face as he cautiously met Philip's gaze.

Philip stood up, his fist hanging at his side.

"Where did the explosives cfrom? So much of it, could it have been Dr. Sarah? But why would she destroy the facility after so

many years? Given her background, shouldn't she have been the facility's most loyal follower?"

The high-ranking officials had trusted her implicitly, but why?

Philip couldn't make sense of it all until he heard a mocking voice behind him.

"It's quite simple. The real doctor died a long tago. The body you saw was inhabited by someone else."

Philip's brow furrowed as he followed the voice and saw a man who bore a striking resemblance to lan.

To what extent?

If the lighting had been dimmer, he would have mistaken this man for lan.

But his aura was completely different from lan's.

How long had he been eavesdropping? Arms crossed, a sardonic smile on his face, the man said, "And it's the person you care

about the most."

"Who?"

"Isn't that what you should be asking yourself? Who set you on this path? Who first sparked your jealousy? The one who died on

Forbidden Island was just Cynthia's shell, but living inside Dr. Sarah was Cynthia's complete personality."

Philip's brow knitted tighter, wary of the stranger.

The man tilted his head slightly, "Didn't the facility run a project like this? The first successful subject was Cynthia. Someone

transferred her memories to Dr. Sarah. Once Cynthia began to awaken, the real Dr. Sarah faded away. Ever wonder why she

prepared bombs? From the moment she woke up, she wanted to escape the facility."

"And who are you, to know all this?"
