Chapter

Irene’s POV

“The Royal Pack leads Our Kingdom of Alva. Right now, we are in the Royal Palace that is within. the Pack.” Julia finished.

My eyes widened. The Royal Pack?

I was in the Royal Pack!

The Royal Pack was the strongest shifter pack, and a lot of rumours said it was a Kingdom on its own. Not only did they lead every pack in our continent, they didn’t allow anyone entry into their

lands.

They were mysterious and frightenedly powerful. It also didn’t help that no one knew where the Royal Pack was.

“Is the palace like another pack on its own?” This whole building I had walked through was already larger than my Bloodhound pack.

Julia giggled at my question. “My lady, you must be joking, right?”

“Although the Palace is the home for the Royal Family and the Alpha King, it’s nowhere big enough to house a pack…”

Before she can say more, Brenda shoots her a stern glare that has her keeping quiet.

“Lady Irene, I guess you aren’t from our kingdom?” She asked with a small smile that had met nodding subconsciously.

“Our kingdom has over a hundred packs in it. However, the kingdom centre, which is what human calls the capital, is the Royal Pack.”

“It is also called the Royal pack because it’s where the palace is. Also, not just anyone can belong to this pack…”

Brenda delves into a series of explanations that makes me understand the kingdom but also has me

in awe.

A world with millions of shifters! I couldn’t help but feel a subtle sense of belonging.

Since you are a guest of the King, I’m sure that you will get to understand and see more about our kingdom soon.” Julia chips in.

“The King?” I asked as a foreboding feeling crept into my heart. There’s no way..

“Aren’t you King Alek’s guest? The whole palace is talking about it already.” This time, Brenda has a subtle look of question on her face.

King Alek.

As obvious as it seemed, it felt a little weird that the man that had sat in front of me some hours ago was the Alpha King that ruled this whole Kingdom.

But what I found more unbelievable was that that same man had wanted me to be his Fated Mate.

“I had no idea he was your King.”

Brenda opens her mouth, ready to reply but then stops with her mouth still parted.

“My Lady, the King has requested that we bring you down to have dinner with him and his Royal brothers.”

Julia giggled and then dashed into a room at the end of the corridor.

While we talked and they told me about their Kingdom, we had also done a small tour of my courtyard.

For one, it was perfect. A little too perfect to be mine, and now my wrists had little red marks from me pinching myself so that I could believe that this wasn’t some dream.

“I’ll help you with your bath and hair. Julia is the best in beauty, I’m certain that she would pick a suitable dress for you,” Brenda informs me as she leads the way to my bedroom.

Some minutes later, I’m fully dressed and standing in front of a ceiling–to–floor mirror.

“Isn’t this too much? It’s only dinner.” I asked, feeling a little too self–conscious and uncomfortable.

While this dress had to be the most beautiful thing I had ever worn in my life, it looked like a dress that should only be admired and not worn, especially not by me.

Besides, it was only dinner, right?

“My Lady, your walk–in closet only has hall dresses and gowns. Perhaps your luggage hasn’t been brought up,” Julia explained with an apologetic look on her face.

“Besides, within the Palace walls, most ladies are often dressed like this.”

I nod because, at this point, I didn’t exactly have a choice, but if those three had plans of keeping me here, then I needed clothes that were made for normal people that just wanted their n*kedness covered.

With the help of Brenda and Julia, we finally stopped in front of a grand and majestic golden door.

“My Lady, we will wait for you. The doors would open any moment from now,” Julia said and then shot me a wink.

As they stepped back, the double doors opened, revealing a grand and huge room.

There’s a lot of gold in the room that it’s almost blinding at first glance. I can also see a large table that would easily accommodate a hundred people at the centre of the room.

I take a deep breath and step in.

Somehow, now that I knew that Alek Kaiser was the King of Alva, I felt more nervous than I had been when I was in his presence earlier.

The large table looks empty, with only two people seated on it. My eyes meet with Alek’s amber eyes, and for a moment, I forget how to breathe.

A single gaze from him had me frozen in place.

But this time, his gaze held a mixture of warmth and praise.

“You look beautiful, Irene.” He finally says before breaking the contact we had shared.

Before I can reply, the large door opens one more time, and foots und behind me.

“Aren’t you getting into a role a little too soon, Irene?” Elton asked in a lazy drawl as he settled in the empty seat beside Alek.

Although the table was large, with Alek at the top and his two brothers flagging both sides, it appeared less empty.

I also can’t help but appreciate how beautiful the three of them were. Despite their varying age and. temperament, there was an alluring charm around the three of them that made it hard for a person. to look away.

Alek was enigmatic and intimidating, but his looks were polished with a sharp edge to it that made me want to know him more. His eyes also held promises that I couldn’t understand, and I was drawn to him, but I was also a little scared of the power that he held.

Noah, on the other hand, was the opposite. Just by sitting there, he was warm, and his mood and thoughts were easy to read from his face. But even then, I could tell that there was some part of him that was locked away from the world.

As for Elton, if his grumpiness was placed aside. He was the most beautiful. His face looked like it was delicately carved. Every curve and line aimed at perfection by his creator.

But there was a great amount of darkness around him that made him feel unreachable and distant.

The only problem was me standing there and hoping that down.

“Lady Irene,” he gave a little curtsy and then stepped back to stand behind Elton.

Although I was embarrassed at sitting so far, I didn’t understand the dynamics of how things were going to work with them, so I settled into the chair.

“Irene is our fated mate, there’s no need for her to sit so far, right?” Noah asked, breaking the stifling silence in the large room.

He was looking at me with a little smile hanging at the corner of his l*ps.

Alek also glances over, and his brows furrowed a little. However, he doesn’t say anything and glances at Elton.

“You can’t be like little Irene and be getting into the role a little too well, right?”

“She’s only our Fated Mate to the world, behind closed doors…” he pauses and glances over at me so that when he says the next words, my gaze is locked with his piercing blue ones.
