Chapter 21

Carmine knew that she was taking a big favor from Alpha Theo. What she was asking

was protection from one of the Alphas out here. Initially, she felt like a mo ron. for not taking time to research about this place, but everything happened so fast that this was the only option left. The way Alpha Theo brought her here in a whirlwind kind of fashion that she just had little time to think. Moreover it was the incident with hunters that forced her to move here on such short notice.

She waited in anticipation, with her hands tightly gripping the flute in her hand, holding her breath.

Theo had a naughty glint in his eyes. He was going to woo Carmine and then eventually ask her to move into his mansion, but the opportunity had fallen right in his lap. He wasn’t the one to flounder it. “You have to stay in the mansion if you want to be safe,” he said finally. “I won’t be able to protect you so well in your cottage, which was bulls hit, because he had way too many warriors to protect what belonged to him.

She just continued to stare at him without replying.

“In my mansion, you will be under constant watch. No one will harm you.” His gaze darted between her eyes and l*ps as if wondering if she would agree to his plan. “I won’t touch you, I swear.” That was too quick. His l*ps curled up. Theo wanted to grab her face and k*ss her senseless for the joy she gave him, but he loosed his breath in relief. “You should move in today. I didn’t like how Alpha Kade threatened you.” In fact, he hated Kade’s guts to even face him. He would have snapped Kade into two had Carmine been his Luna already, but he had to move carefully. The laws demanded that Carmine should sever her connection from the Blue Moon pack. If Alpha Kade refused to sever her connection, then he might have to wage a war against his half-brother. And he would do anything for Carmine because Alpha Kade would do anything to pis s him off.

“B-but Thor is at home. I have to get him.”

Theo’s eyebrows slashed together as a dark expression fell over his face. “Is he all alone?”

“What? No!” She shook her head. “He’s with Joseph.”

Theo’s face darkened further. “Who is Josephi?”

She smiled. “The man who was my assistant at the shop.”

Theo narrowed his eyes. He hated Joseph because he was trying to stake a claim on Carmine. Not good. “Did he follow you here?”

“Yes,” she replied innocently. “He said that he didn’t know what else to do because ever since he had started his career, he only knew how to do wedding gowns and accessories. You see he’s been with me since the very start.”

Theo had to will himself to stop his claws from clongating as his wolf rumbled in his chest like a beast. Thunder wanted to kill Joseph and then bathe in his blood.

“You called him home?” he asked in a cl*pped and cold voice.

“Yes,” she shrugged.

He had to get Carmine out of that house as soon as possible. There was no way he would let her stay near that wretched human. “Will he be staying with you?” The notion was enough to send him in frenzy. Now he wanted to shift and perhaps kill a few.

She chuckled and sipped her wine from the flute. “No, I’ve found an apartment for him in the nearest town, which is about two miles from my place.”

Her words seemed to allay some of his blood thirst. “I see,” he replied as he gulped. down his wine. “In that case, I will bring Thor to the mansion now. You don’t have to go there and get him.”

Carmine’s mouth dropped to the floor. “But I have to pack and all. Besides, I am running a wedding boutique. Earning is necessary for me to make a living. I can’t be eating for free at your place. I mean that was-

“You can run it from the mansion,” he cut her off. “There’s plenty of space for it.” Though he would have preferred that she didn’t earn. He imagined seeing her pregnant with his pup and barefoot in his kitchen. The image in his mind was enough to make his c ock shoot north.

She blinked her eyes in disbelief. “But the initiation ceremony is within a week. Why would I shift my boutique here?” A pale blush rose to her cheeks.

He wanted to trace it with his fingers before taking those plump l*ps in his mouth and suck them in abandon. “What is the point if you go back? Alpha Kade’s warriors might.

be lurking around.” Though if anyone even touch her hair, he was going to make them pay tenfold, but then he wasn’t above a wolf who had just found his mate. He was possessive, and he was cun ning. He would do everything to keep her with him. Sooner the better. What she said was logical not to move her boutique here, but he would not let her run it away from him.

“Oh yes,” she said as sadness flickered in her eyes. Even though she knew that Alpha Theo could supply a few warriors for her safety, but then why would he? Maybe she should take advantage of the situation. She convinced herself that it was only for a few days. After they held the initiation ceremony, she didn’t have to stay in his mansion. “Well, thank you so much for your offer, Alpha Theo. You’ve always been so thoughtful.”

“Oh, it is nothing,” he replied as a smile beamed his face.

She shook her head. “No, it means a lot to me.”

He picked up his phone and was about to call when she stopped him. “I have to pack my luggage.”

“Not necessary,” he said instantly. He didn’t want her to leave his home. No. Their home. She just didn’t know it yet. But soon… “My omegas are going to see that they have moved all your belongings here. I will ask Scarlet to oversee packing and she will

do it.”

“Scarlet?” Carmine wasn’t sure if Scarlet would do it.

“She will. Don’t worry,” he assured her. “She was an omega before I brought her here and she’s been with me for the past year and has proven her worth. Now she’s an integral part of this pack and in my inner circle.”

Carmine pursed her l*ps. Why was it she didn’t like the idea of Scarlet being so close to Theo? But then she was new to Theo’s life as compared to Scarlet. She had no reason to show her displeasure.

“By the way, the dress you are wearing is beautiful!” Theo chuckled.

Her l*ps lifted into a lovely smile, making his heart speed up. “Thanks. And the dress. that Scarlet was wearing?”

“That was also nice, but this one is better.”

Carmine laughed. “That is also my creation.”

Theo frowned, jerking his head back. “But I thought-

Her words angered Theo at the basic level. It wasn’t because he thought Carmine was speaking the lies. It was because Scarlet ridiculed her. But why did she do that?

“It’s fine…” Carmine breathed. “As such, I would never ever mingle in that society again. So it won’t happen again.”

“Why not? You will attend every party with me from now on!” Theo growled.

Silence ensued. Her l*ps parted at his sudden burst of anger.

“I mean, why not?” Theo felt like a fool and corrected himself. He was going to take his mate to every party from now on. “Since you are in my mansion, you should.”

She scratched the back of her n*eck. “People will think I am your…” She pursed her l*ps. and looked away.

Dying to touch her, he took her hands in his and gazed into her eyes with an intensity that made her belly ache because a nest of butterflies created havoc out there. “I know, but that’s what I want. I told you I am interested in you. Can you give me a chance?”

Before Carmine could answer his question, a heavy knock on the door sounded. She pulled her hand away from his, leaving him cold. He snapped his head towards the door. “This better be urgent!” he shouted.

Scarlet opened the door and peeped inside. “Alpha Theo, the guests are looking for you. You have to give a speech.” She flitted her gaze towards Carmine and gave her a soft. smile.
