Chapter 870 Determined To Take His Life

The moment Killian caught sight of Ruben, he was already desperately fleeing from the sword training hall.

But in the end, he was merely a Foundation Stage cultivator. How could he possibly escape the pursuit of Ruben? The murderous intent of Ruben’s life energy suddenly bore down on him.

Buss!

At the critical moment, the protective emerald pendant that Killian was wearing suddenly shattered. In an instant, a dazzling barrier materialized around him, successfully deflecting the lethal blow.

Taking advantage of the few remaining seconds of the barrier, Killian made a frantic

escape.

Ruben’s face was clouded with anger as he barked, “I knew someone was pulling the strings from behind the scenes! That scoundrel, Devon, even gave you such an advanced protective emerald pendant!”

Naturally, Ruben wouldn’t let Killian off so easily. He relentlessly pursued him, and just as the barrier was about to dissipate, another wave of murderous life energy swept out.

Killian felt a chilling aura of death. He realized that this time, Ruben was deadly serious. In a panic, he bellowed, “Save me!”

No sooner had his words fallen than the aura of death abruptly vanished into thin air.

Two figures materialized beside Killian, effectively dissipating Ruben’s murderous life

energy.

It was Caden and Devon.

Upon seeing them appear, Ruben was instantly consumed by rage, unable to contain his fury. He roared, “You two b*stards, what was your intention in having Killian destroy my son’s elixir field?”

“Mr. Ruben, please don’t wrongfully accuse us,” Caden said, his expression unchanging. “This is clearly a personal feud between Killian and Peter. What does it have to do with us?”

Devon nodded and said, “Mr. Ruben, you have indeed wronged me. I am, after all, an upright man.”

“Wronged you? Well then, why don’t you explain? What’s the deal with this protective emerald pendant?” Ruben looked at Devon and scoffed.

Devon explained, “Killian is a swordsmanship prodigy from my Origin Sword Sect. Naturally, I have to nurture him. I couldn’t just stand by and watch him meet an untimely end. Giving him a protective emerald pendant for self–defense is quite normal, isn’t it?”

“You’re full of crap! Don’t think for a second that I don’t know what you two are up to!” Ruben yelled furiously,

“Mr. Ruben, please, don’t get agitated,” they said, “As for what truly transpired, why don’t we just ask Killiän?”

With an air of feigned nonchalance, Devon turned to Killian and said, “Killian, don’t you think it’s high time you gave us a detailed account of what happened?”

“Indeed!”

Killian had already regained his composure from the earlier shock and slowly began to speak, “After returning from my journey in the outside world, I heard that the inheritance of Sword King Mountain had been stolen. Peter was one of the possible suspects, and naturally, I was not pleased. Today, as a mentee, I arrived at the sword training hall where I saw Peter showing off. He was boasting that his sword energy had reached the level of a master. I couldn’t help but grumble a few words under my breath, which, unfortunately, Peter overheard. Consequently, he challenged me to a spar, declaring he wanted to avenge my insult. Of course, I wasn’t afraid of him, so we ended up in a fight. I didn’t mean to destroy Peter’s elixir field, but he refused to admit defeat. I had no choice but to fight until he yielded, and in the heat of the moment, I might have hit him too hard…”

“What a joke!”

Suddenly, Ruben interrupted, his voice filled with anger. “Anyone who could see could tell that you were deliberately aiming for Peter’s elixir field. How dare you claim it was an accident?”

That was nothing but utter nonsense!

Caden pleaded, “Mr. Ruben, please hold your anger for a moment. Allow me to speak. Killian and Peter are both young and hot–blooded, extremely prone to rash actions. In fights, occasional accidents can happen, which is understandable.”

“F*ck you!”

Ruben was a man of strong emotions. The people in front of him were clearly denying their wrongdoings, and he was finding it hard to hold back his urge to curse out loud.

Caden’s expression changed as he said, “Mr. Ruben, don’t forget your position. As the leader of a sect, speaking such crude words in front of so many mentees isn’t that inappropriate, is it?”

“What’s the big deal if I decided to cuss you today?”

That rendered the other party speechless.

“I didn’t care whether Killian acted deliberately or on impulse. He had grievously injured my son. Today, I’m determined to take his life!” Once again, a murderous intent erupted from Ruben.
