Chariot 3: Conception
Chapter 41 – Spherical bridge

Cai Yiu landed on the top of one of the spherical probes that flew underneath. His daring eyes looked straight ahead as he calculated his next move. Fearless, he jumped onto the next probe where he bounced, and projected his body towards the last sphere.

Cai Yiu then finally landed right where he wanted, in front of one of the enemy crafts.

There, he stood. Steady, he engaged his defying eyes towards the cockpit of the craft whose canons targeted him back.

At the precise moment they discharged their weapons against him, Cai Yiun Hun jumped into the air. And with an ace of ending his path, he dodged the irradiating light that passed underneath.

Just ahead of him, his spherical probe smashed itself against the Grey craft, penetrating its body with the impact.

The damaged fuselage resembled a crumpled foil paper that, allegedly, attempted to recover its original shape.

On a calculated move, Cai Yiu Hun landed onboard the craft through the hole that the sphere freshly carved on its side.

He took a deep breath while drawing his gisra out of his arm holster, and once he decided which one of his opponents would be the first to bleed, he attacked.

His gisra had not even finished shaping itself when it reached the first Grey on the seat lined up across.

Cai Yiu`s blade invaded the back of the enemy`s head. Mesmerized, the Grey seated beside watched the metal completing its shifting while coming out through the face of his freshly deceased colleague.

Without a chance to react, the blade imbibed in blood moved out of the motionless body, sideways, straight into its second victim on a sublime motion that sliced off his temper.

By the time Cai Yiu stepped forward towards the four remaining beings he would annihilate next, two of them were already out of their seats, each holding a device of some sort on their hands.

Without giving the next one a chance to use his weapon, Cai Yiu struck his hand, cutting it right under the wrist.

The rough shout of pain preceded the sound of the limb that hit the deck. Cai Yiu`s astute fighting instincts did not miss anything, and that included the fresh drops of blood that splashed on the deck, one after the other.

Cai Yiu looked at the device dropped from the fallen hand and recalled the pain that similar artifact had brought him before.

Just before the yet untouched Nibirian could reach his fourth opponent, Cai Yiu watched one of the Greys pressing the button of cylindrical object held in his hand.

The Nibirian warrior instantly felt the unavoidable pain, an electrifying sensation that rapidly spread over his body.

The painful seconds that elapsed felt as if minutes of an electric pulse traveled through his body and soul.

Barely able to remain conscious, Cai Yiu felt on his knees and then on his back.

His body was dormant. He could not feel anything but the vague presence of his arms and fingers, still attached to his body. “My fingers...” He tried to recover their movements.

The pilot, who seemed to be the one in charge, turned back from his seat and threw an unwelcome look towards the Nibirian warrior that lied on the deck. Without pronouncing anything, Cai Yiu understood he had just given his silent instructions to the others, instructions which Cai Yiu would not wait to find out.

As if nothing extraordinary was taking place, the Grey pilot turned back to the front and continued to fly the craft with the help of his second in charge.

Cai Yiu looked to the side after sensing a disgusting smell, and identified the fallen hand just an inch from his face, “disgusting”. He turned his eyes and then quietly watched the wounded Grey approach him while holding the strange looking device back in the hand that had been spared.

Once he covered his wound with a metallic looking patch, the Grey whose eyes displayed the purest pain suddenly changed into a crude and angered look, thirst for revenge.

The Grey that crouched next to Cai Yiu squeezed the strange device with his hand, projecting some sort of needle out of it. He then carefully lifted the weapon over his paralyzed enemy and prepared to give an end to the life of the Nibirian.

Cai Yiu waited and waited, patiently watching one of the Greys approaching the wounded friend to watch the deadly stabbing, almost as if he would enjoy it.

Getting closer and closer to what appeared to be his end, Cai Yiu finally found both of his enemies where he wanted, as their heads aligned behind each other.

With not much strength left in his hand, Cai Yiu had not doubt that he had only one chance to survive.

With a slight move, his fingers activated his gisra, imprudently left on his hand by his enemy. It then shifted into a spear looking blade that elongated just enough to skewer the skulls of the two short creatures together.

Thinking of his next move, Cai Yiu watched the blood flowing from their bodies over the hilt of his blade.

The pilot of the craft turned back once again and faced the disappointing reality of his defeated crew. He rapidly got off his seat drawing his blaster which he shot without hesitation.

Still on the floor, stunned by whatever had hit him before, Cai Yiu`s gisra re-shaped into a small oval shield just enough to divert the Grey`s red colored shot of plasma to the side.

With the little strength that he was still left with, Cai Yiu jumped on his feet, and on a frenetic although staggering run, he used his freshly shaped shield to smash the pilot against his seat.

At the moment the Grey stretched his hand, trying to grab his dropped handgun, the merciless shield deliberately turned itself into a multi sharpened surface that immediately put an end to the fight.

Struggling to stand still, Cai Yiu wondered if he would survive his last opponent as he staggered to move towards the front of the craft.

While his ‘tool’ finished shaping into a knife, Cai Yiu jumped into the front part of the cockpit swinging his left arm on a ferociously violent attack.

Ignoring the obviousness of the unpleasant smell of burnt flesh, his blade approached the static enemy. It was when Cai Yiu Hun realized, his last enemy would fight no longer, already killed by the shot that had just ricocheted on his shield.

He would not have stood a chance anyway.” Thought Cai Yiu Hun as he tried to stand still.
