Chapter 25

Third person's POV

Sometimes it's said that damaged people are dangerous because they know how to survive and to be frank, it's true.

As Mara unfolded her sister's past history with Alexia's father, everyone became silent, wondering what went wrong for the two souls that led to the current events...

Alexia believes that some mistakes are meant to be made but not ones that you know you can easily evade if you weren't bored.

Mara also believes that sometimes, people fall in love with the ones who aren't meant for them and end up getting hurt. She knew quite well that her sister felt that she was in love when she was just in pain but she was never able to change her mind. She had always felt guilty and believed that she was the reason why everything happened; why Alexia and the ones she loved were in trouble. Why Emma couldn't be with her mate from the start. How she used magic and every help she could get to try to save everyone from her sister's vengeance.

It turned out that Alexia's father used Mara's older sister when she believed everything he told her. Mara began telling them the story. The story of how their love and betrayal began.

"Around the time they both met, my parents have just died. My sister was barely an adult if you could even call her that. She was devastated due to our parents' death and because of that, she was often out; roaming the forest where she usually went to pick up some of the ingredients she used in various things in her daily life.

One day, my twenty-year-old sister coincidentally stumbled upon a charming English werewolf. As time passed, vows were made between the two, defying the mate bond and the moon goddess' obvious hints for the two to let go of each other...They were stubborn. They became a part of each other's life's for the next few months until...She came. Your mother, Alexia."

Everyone had different reactions to this history. Noah was nervous; biting his nails while waiting for the rest of the story to get unfold.

Emma became sad as she knew the clear ending of their relationship. Everyone knew that they have a soul mate out there and you won't end up with anyone else unless your mate rejected you or met with a tragedy and by tragedy it meant death...

Everyone else was quiet. Dark thoughts roamed in their minds as Mara continued...

"Your father devoted almost all of his time for my sister. He might have talked once or twice with your mother because they were in the same pack, but that changed after they realised they were mates. My sister was kept a secret from everybody and your mother was no exception. He marked your mother shortly and that was one of the mistakes he also did. He should've told my sister how his feelings changed but...It was too late."

Mara whispered the last statement, tears brimming her eyes. She closed them as she tried to take a few deep breaths. She wanted to cry; her sister was very dear to her and she felt miserable for everything her dear sister had gone through because of misplaced feelings.

"As I said before, your mother was always kept in the dark. When your father did tell her the truth, he spared her many details. Details she should have known but she didn't push it. She was also told about my sister several years after you were born, I think it was around the time your parents started fighting every now and then."

"How do you know about my parents' fights?" Alexia stared at her in shock; never thought Mara would know things nobody except herself. Her parents themselves never realized that she stood outside their room, listening to their fights. She never understood what they were fighting about though and neither did she try to ask them.

"Just like how you silently watched them fight, I also watched my sister every time she spied on them, especially when they fought. You father insisted that he never loved my sister. How do you think my sister felt? She crumbled every time he showed love to his mate..." Her tears were silently falling, staining her cheeks.

The silence was like a heavy curtain that covered them. It rested upon them once again and no one was comfortable with it. The dark journey of the unlucky couple was suffocating their minds as they tried to take it in.

After a long moment of silence, Landon broke the silence as he asked,

"What is she doing now?"

Mara harshly bit down on her lower lips before answering him,

"Plotting the death of your mate, obviously. No one can simply accept an apology after all of this, don't you think?" Her bloodshot teary eyes showed misery as she stared at him.

Landon let out a savage growl as he tried moving towards Mara to kill her. The only thing that prevented him from taking one step towards her was Alexia's clenched hand around his as squeezed her eyes shut.

Alexia's feelings changed from sadness and guilt to being senseless in a mere second. She became numb to every emotion one could have been able to feel if were put in the same situation.

Emma let out a gasp before sitting there once again silently as both she and her younger brother watched Landon with wide eyes. They have never seen their older brother who is usually nice with his friends change into a violent guy. But, they weren't that surprised either, they might have done the same if they were in his shoes.

Maxwell clenched his fists as he watched Landon. He has always wished to sacrifice and do everything he can do for his mate like his friend. His claws descended; digging into his palms to let him feel the pain. Remind him that he can't touch his mate. He was now sure that he can't get close to his mate. Not until she forgives him after what he did.

He already knew bits and pieces of this story two nights before and he took this story as his own wisdom.

He stood up before standing at the other end of the coach where Emma and Noah left empty; he wanted to stay as far away as he could from his mate. A way to ease his guilt after hurting her.

Emma watched him. Her eyes staring at him as she stayed seated on the couch, just watching him. She wanted to go to him, embrace him in a hug but she didn't. She didn't know what to do.

"What does your scheme with Maxwell has to do with everything you have just said?" Noah spoke this time. The poor boy was smart for his age but lacked courage.

"It's not a scheme, Noah," Maxwell replied before Mara spoke.

"Two years ago when I was supposed to mark Mara, she confessed everything. Not entirely but she told me about how you all would have been hurt if we haven't done anything. Mara is also weak because she's using her magic all the time to protect both of our packs. We should be at least thankful for that, right?"

Maxwell said, he was feeling guilty for what he had done, but deep down he also knew that this was the only way to help them without arising the suspicion of Mara's sister.

"Right..." Noah nodded.

"I'm feeling tired. I'm going to my room, now. Excuse me." Emma stood up, feeling fatigued and her mind became blank for a moment as she stood up. She had always been weaker than normal she-wolves but she also had her own way of overcoming it, but right now, she simply wanted to run away from everything. She wanted some peace for some time and she wouldn't be able to sleep for a while after the fearful dream she had.

"Of course. You all need some time to take in what I had just said. Please, go and rest now. We need to talk more though, we aren't done here, yet." Mara said as she also felt tired. Everybody did.

"Wait..." Emma said before she opened the door.

"Yes, Emma?" Mara said.

"What's your sister's name? In the dream I had before I woke up, there was this pretty woman with odd dead purple eyes. She said her name is Raven..." Emma could hear her heart racing as she asked; she was still afraid of that woman. Mara sighed as she nodded,

"That’s my sister."

"I see," Emma said quickly before going to her room. They all went to their rooms as well and thought about everything again...
