Lisa p.o.v.

“You’re proposing to her?”

“Yeah… it felt like it was time for the next step.” I swallowed the lump in my throat and smiled.

“I’m sure she’ll like it.” I didn’t know what else to say. He looked relieved hearing that. Ace stared at me for a moment with a questioning gaze. The boys continued eating as I was lost in my thoughts. After finishing breakfast Ace and Vik leave to do some work. I absentmindedly walked through the halls as I try to get familiar with the place. After a while I end up in the garden at back and spot Aiden there by the fountain. I watch as he enjoys. It had been a long time since I’ve had a peaceful moment for myself and this feels as close as it can. A pure sense of calmness. What is left to think is if this is the calm before a storm.

Aiden spots me and rushes over. Without caring if he was wet or not he jumped into my arms and I catch him with a laugh. By dinner time he tired himself out and ended up falling asleep on the couch. I carried him up and put on a fresh pair of clothes after giving him a quick bath. As usual he didn’t even wake. Smiling I place a kiss on the top of his head and head out. The whole day managed to pass as a blur.

Walking down the stairs I hear the front door open and Ace calling out as he approached the stairs. We sat down for dinner. It was quiet for the most part but there was a strange tension in the air.

“Daleyza…” Ace finally spoke up.

“Hmm?” I answer without looking up from my plate.

“What was your reaction this morning about?”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“You’re hiding something from me. Something about Lea and Vik. And I’m giving you one chance to come clean.”

“Ace…” I look up to find him staring at me. I sighed and put the fork down. “I’m not a 100% sure, but I think Lea may be a traitor.”

“That is a heavy accusation. Are you sure?”

“I’m not sure.” I shake my head. “But I wouldn’t be saying it if I didn’t think there was a possibility for it to be true.”

He takes a deep breath and combs his fingers through his hair.

“Why would you suspect her? She’s always known your location. She’s always been with you. If she wanted to sell you out she would have done it years ago.”

“That’s what’s bothering me too… but.”

“But?”

“When I was in Mateo’s place. There was a man that really resembles her… and I overheard them talking… They were saying that it’s time for a change because for once they have all the cards in their hands. There was just something that didn't sit right with the way they talked.”

“That doesn’t make any sense.” He shakes his head.

“The other man said it was high time his daughter does the job she was sent for.” I sigh.

“I’ll have someone look in to it.” He finally says.

“Vik can’t know… It won’t end up good if I’m right.”

“Hmm.”

The ringing of his phone interrupted us. He answered and in the blink of an eye he turned furious. He got up and stormed out without even uttering a word. Sighing I put the dirty dishes in the kitchen as I wonder what that was about. Heading up to my room a draw myself a bath and get a bottle of wine as I enjoy a few moments of peace.

I didn’t realize I fell asleep till I felt someone moving me. when I opened my eyes I saw a glimpse of Ace’s face so I didn’t bother much and went back to sleep. I stirred awake with the morning sunlight right on my face. I groaned and turned around as I hid my face in the pillow. Trying to go back to sleep but it seemed like that wasn’t going to happen anytime soon. So I slowly get up and freshen up before leaving the room. I went to Aiden’s room only to find it empty.

When I reach the dining room downstairs I hear laughter. As I see Aiden and Ace getting along I feel something weird in the pit of my stomach and a smile reaches my lips. I observe them for a few moments before Aiden saw me and ran over. I picked him up and he placed a kiss on me cheek. Ace took Aiden to school.

After a few hours I really started to get bored. So I changed my clothes and head to the gym Ace had built in. cranking the music up till I couldn’t hear my thoughts I drowned myself in physically exhausting myself. It felt good after such a long time. I was hitting the punching bag when I heard the music volume going down. From the corner of my eye I saw Ace approaching. He leaned against one of the poles crossing his arms in front of him.

“How long have you been down here?” he asked and I shrugged in response. “Hmm. I thought so. Come on let’s get you cleaned up.” He started pulling me away and I groaned in response. But I didn’t have it in me to protest. After a relaxing shower I did feel a bit better.

“The funeral of your dad is in two days.”

“So?”

“Are you planning on going?”

“Honestly? No.” I sighed. Just then my phone started ringing. “Yeah?” I answer after seeing Frankie’s name.

“Hey. Are you free? Can you come over for a moment?”

“Why?” Ace raises his eyebrow questioningly and I brush it off.

“Cristy… She’s… I don’t know what to do.” He finally admitted in a defeated voice.

“Hmm. Okay I think I can come over.” I trailed off. I ended the call and turned to Ace. “Frankie asked me to come over.” He nodded.

“We can pick Aiden from school and go.” His answer stunned me for a moment. “What?”

“Nothing. I didn’t expect you to say that.” I shook my head and for some reason he smiled.

“I thought it was time to let the past go.” He extended his hand and waited for me. I finally gave in and put my hand on his and we walked out.
