Chapter-9

It’s been a week since we all were welcomed into this pack, week I’ve been shifted to my new home. It’s been a whole week I tried and worked to make this house look and feel like home. This past week with the help of Roman and occasionally Joshua we completed painting nurseries for both Ethan and Riley; Riley’s nursery was themed on a movie toy story while Ethan’s was mixed with cars and jungle, we also painted Jeremy’s room because his birthday is coming and he wants to feel home as he said.

Our family was settling well here so far and pack members are welcoming and helping us if we want and Eva well we all are bonding stronger each day and she teases me, annoy me like a sister should do, she and Emma like two peas in a pod and they bonded even stronger this past week and both the kids adapted the environment much easily, advantages of being the babies I suppose.

And to my much dismay my wolf is on little edge for two three days and want to let free but, I can’t let him be free in front of the pack members, I can only let him run in dark today which I decided and we have to prepare lot because Jeremy’s birthday is tomorrow and so will his first shift, I have been preparing him for that, making him run and exercise a lot because, first shift hurts a lot, it’s pain for a lifetime thing.

Currently I was getting ready as Matt called for us to tell us something, I hope all is well.

I left my room and went downstairs into the kitchen where I found Joshua and Roman arguing on something again, I rolled my eyes and pulled out granola bar from cupboard and said “seriously guys sometimes I think I’m the older and natured one among us three” which got their attention and they scoffed and said “whatever” and went to whatever they were arguing about.

I finished the bar and asked “where’s the kids and your mates” and put the rapper into the trash can.

“Emma and Eva went to shop for something and the kids, both of them are with Summer and Jeremy at Summer’s house” Joshua replied.

I nodded my head and mumbled an ok and went to clean the mess that Joshua created. After cleaning the mess I asked again “when do we have to leave for Matt’s house?” I inquired no one in particular.

“Well just now” said Roman and stood up from his seat and headed towards the front door, Joshua and I followed behind him, after we all were out I locked the door and we together made our way towards Matt’s house.

It’s just five minute walk to it but, with these two idiots it’s felt like five hours both were arguing about who was older between them, I groaned in irritation and turned around to face my two idiotic brothers and said “I think you two passed that age where you both would argue who was older and not, and Joshua we all know that Roman is ten minutes older than you, so please stop arguing like kids” and turned to my heels and left them there with identical scowls on their faces.

When they snapped out of their haze they followed me silently and we entered Matt’s house, as we entered the house we heard laughter from the direction of living room and went straight there to see Jeremy was crawling on all fours and Ethan and Riley following behind him, Ryan and Summer encouraging them to go on.

I raised my brow at them and cleared my throat to catch their attention, when their eyes landed on me and I crossed my arms over my chest and asked “mind telling me what’s this all about” now both Riley and Ethan try to crawl up to me, yeah I know they are in crawling stage now and soon enough they will be walking and running.

“Well...”Jeremy started and nervously scratched the back of his head.

I raised my brow at him and asked “well what? I don’t have all day”

“Well, we were trying to teach them how to crawl on their own,” Summer said, completing Jeremy’s sentence. Well they have serious shit going on, this past week they both spent most of their time together doing god knows what.

“What’s going on?” come the new voice and both my brothers and Matt entered room and eyeing them suspiciously and turned his gaze to me for answers I guess, I sighed and said “apparently these goofballs trying to teach the kids how to crawl”

They chuckled and Matt said “well they will learn that on their own, no need to teach them that” in a gentle voice.

“Well Joshua’s personality is rubbing on them” I muttered that part under my breath and all of them heard I guess because everyone started laughing except who was glaring at me and said “well don’t forget I’m the one who taught you how to crawl, when you were only three months.”

And everyone laughed even harder and I said “well now you know what I mean” this made the room go in fits of another laughter and Joshua turned a little red but said nothing.

“Ok ok well boys follow me, will you? I have something important to ask you” informed Matt and started walking in the same direction to his office.

We all silently followed behind him and when he opened the door of his study we all were greeted by a huge office, to one side was the huge desk and two leather chairs facing the other huge one and there was huge window and there were few couches arranged and stood in between them the coffee table and small library was made to the other corner and I also noticed the fading scent in the room and it was intoxicating to me and to my wolf but, I couldn’t tell what was it. I shook the thought away and at the same time Matt started to say “well take seats boys” and we took our seats on one huge couch which would fit three of us and Matt took a seat opposite us.

“Well I wanted to ask you three something” Matt started “well it only be implemented if you feel good to do it” we all nodded and he continued “well I suppose Joshua has medical degree” we all nodded again and he nodded and said “so I wanted to offer you a post at our hospital which I mind you is human as well werewolf hospital and I know you have great degree and skills for the post so what do you think?”

We just sat there and I personally thought he was going to burst out laughing any minute now and say ‘got you’ but that never came and he frowned and asked “Is something wrong?”

We shook our heads and Joshua tried to say “umm… are you kidding or am I hallucinating” asked more than said.

I pinched him and he yelped a little and rubbing his arm he asked “what’s that’s for?”

“Nothing waking you up from dream” I duh tone and told Matt “you know right his medical degree isn’t real” Joshua slapped me hard on my arm making me wince at the impact and quickly he said “don’t pay attention to this dork, I’m very capable of the post whatever is that and to remind you people my degree is 100% real” and glared me.

Matt just laughed and said “you know you both remind me of your father and uncle they both were all teasing each other and all” we just sat silent for a while in our own thoughts when Roman thought it was best to break it and said “Is that all you want to talk about?”

Matt shook his head and said “no I want to ask you as well as Adam something too” when he called for me from my first name I sat still because no one call me that except my dad, he continued and I know Roman and Joshua watching me so I masked my face void of any emotions and listened what Matt said “I want to ask you that you have major degree in science, right” and I nodded my head and he spoke again “well I was wondering we have school locally and all werewolf and neighboring packs children come their too, so I was saying will you be happy to join their as teacher, of course science you’ll be teaching and don’t worry about money it will be good, so what you say?” and waited for my answer.

I sighed and I know I would love to teach students but, my only problem is Ethan right now so, I said that I thought was good as per the situation “I appreciate that and I would love to but, Ethan who will take care after him, when I’m at school” I presented my doubt.

“Don’t stresses Suzie would love too and we have day care in here for the pups to look after” Matt said assuring me and beside me Roman spoke “he’s right Jamie Emma will look after Ethan, I don’t see any problem for you not to join”

I sighed and thought for a minute or two and nodded my head and said “I’ll do it. So when do I join” now a little pumped up.

“You’ll be joining on coming Monday so do you Joshua” Matt said and we both nodded and then turned to look at Roman and said “well now most important thing, how will you feel being beta of Dark Blood Pack” like that all the movement stopped and for minute and two our breathing too and we looked at matt as he was joking or something but, he was damn serious and Roman choked out “what?”

Blew out a breath and said “well I asked, how will you feel to be Beta of this pack”

“Why?” he asked again

“Well where do I start?” Matt mumbled

“Well, start from the beginning” I proposed

“yeah right” said Matt pause “when I was alpha my beta didn’t have a son and only had a daughter who now lives with her mate in another pack lands and so does my beta now, so when my son took over his friend supposed to take the beta position but, he found his mate and who was beta’s only daughter , so he left the pack to live with her and her family to one of the neighboring pack for the meantime I was filling the post for him and training my other son for that but, he doesn’t want to do anything with alpha and beta title, he just wants to be free, his words not mine and my son Logan wants me to fill that post and for my good luck you came straight to our pack and I’ve known you father and you uncle and I know you were beta for your previous pack , so I thought why not make you one again, so what do you think?”

Roman sat silent, must be thinking or taking in all the info just provided then said the words matt wants to hear and I know that he was emotional and highly overwhelmed “I would be honored”
