When Josie found Grape, she was crouching outside the cage, feeding the wolf pup inside.

Beside them stood an elderly lady, holding a dog leash in her hand. Her silhouette seemed familiar. Josie exchanged a glance with Dexter, but didn't recognize her immediately until a big white dog emerged and started barking wildly in Josie's direction.

Josie was taken aback.

The large dog had a weary look in its eyes, suggesting it was of considerable age.

"Pepper!"

Josie was surprised and quickly stepped forward, crouching down to embrace it. "Pepper!"

As though it understood her, Pepper writhing wildly in her arms, barking repeatedly. That frightened Grape into retreating into Dexter's embrace.

"It's me, Pepper. I'm back. Do you remember me?" Josie rubbed its head tenderly.

Pepper continued barking enthusiastically.

Grape whispered, "Daddy, Pepper has become so fierce."

Maybe it was because of its old age. Peper had been lethargic lately, lacking energy, but now it was behaving differently.

Dexter gently patted Grape's head. "She's happy to see Mommy."

"Is it Mommy's baby like me?"

"Yes."

A dog is loyal to its master forever.

Upon seeing Pepper again, Josie was nearly moved to tears. Ever since she returned, she longed to see Pepper again, but due to her hectic schedule, she couldn't find the time. Unexpectedly, she met him at the Russell Mansion.

Looking up, she saw a tearful woman gazing at her with love.

"Ms. Whiteford..."

It was Esmeralda. She used to take care of Henry in the past.

Esmeralda choked back tears. "Leanne, I heard you came back long ago, but I didn't dare to disturb you. However, I've seen Grape many times. She looks just like you."

Josie stood up and hugged Esmeralda, holding back her emotions. "I missed you a lot. Thank you for taking care of Pepper for me."

"During the chaos back then, when you had Pepper sent to me, I knew you trusted me and took good care of it."

Releasing her grip, Josie asked, "What are you doing here?"

"I used to live alone, quite comfortably. But Dexter insisted on bringing me back, saying someone needed to take care of me for him to feel at ease. Look, I'm not so old that I can't take care of myself. He's just being overly cautious."

Her eyes were filled with playful mischief as she turned to look at Dexter. His gaze was deep. "You should consider my feelings too. After all, you are the only family I have here."

Esmeralda pursed her lips and let out a sigh, half-jokingly changing the subject. "Look at your daughter. Her personality is just like yours. Of all things, she's raising a wolf."

Josie's gaze fell into the cage, where indeed a beautiful wolf pup was growing rapidly, already showing signs of strength.

She knew Grape raised it, but where did she find it?

"Did you buy it?"

Grape was about to answer when Dexter covered her mouth. "Yeah, we saw it on the street and had to buy it."

Josie didn't know Grape had been in an accident. He didn't want her to worry.

"Have you decided on a name yet?"

At this moment, Grape pulled Dexter's hand away and announced, "Lucky!"

Josie's lips twitched. "Why?"

"After returning here, everyone gives their pets names like Lady Luck and Fatty. They sound nice, right?"

Josie couldn't really accept a wolf named "Lucky."

"Let her be. After all, someone did impose their own taste preferences on the dog," Dexter commented in a quiet, almost melancholic tone. Tsk, he's talking about me.
