Blind date turned proposal (Josie and Dexter)
Chapter 1157 The Butterfly Effect

Several security guards had been injured, unable to even stand, frightening quite a few guests.

When Arnold found out, he was just extricating himself from a social engagement. He lit a cigarette and leaned against the door, only looking up after he had finished listening to Scar's report.

Fearfully, Scar reported, "They say it was Dexter who hurt those bodyguards, and the bodyguards beat Josie. The news is spreading like wildfire in the circle."

In less than ten minutes, Arnold drove to the hospital, emerging from the elevator with a few people.

Just then, they saw Dexter sitting on a chair by the hospital room door. Larry had brought him medicine, which he swallowed directly without water. On the side of his fair-skinned face was a wound, from which fresh blood had seeped out and had now dried up.

It was an injury from the fight.

Dexter felt the gaze on him, subtly pocketed the medicine, and greeted, "Mr. Mills."

Arnold snapped back to his senses. "I heard that someone in my establishment has upset you, Mr. Russell, so I came specifically to check."

Leaning back, Dexter said, "Thanks to you, I survived."

"Of course, Mr. Russell couldn't possibly be dead. It's my subordinates who have suffered, now barely clinging to life."

"Since you say so, it makes me question your intentions, Mr. Mills. Do you not welcome me? Or do you intend to kill me by ambushing me?"

A sinister glint lingered in Dexter's eyes. He was more than willing to engage in open confrontation, but if anyone resorted to such despicable tactics, he was not one to be trifled with. Arnold, knowing he was in the wrong, defended himself, "I didn't intend for that to happen."

"Who could that have been then?" Dexter questioned.

"I'm still investigating," Arnold replied.

Dexter tapped his fingers, while Justin, who was already seething with murderous intent by his side, could no longer hold himself back. He wanted to step forward but was stopped. "Where are those security guards now?"

"Since you were the one who personally inflicted the injury, I naturally had to show some respect. I didn't send them to the hospital, leaving them to fend for themselves."

"I was rather heavy-handed. I'm afraid I might have broken their ribs. If they don't go to the hospital, it could be fatal."

Arnold stared at him intently. "Even if they're dead, it has nothing to do with Mr. Russell."

Dexter's lips curved slightly, and his profile flushed a deep red.

"Well, thank you, Mr. Mills."

Immediately, Arnold stepped forward, unable to suppress his desire to enter the ward. However, he was directly blocked by Justin who extended his hand and said, "Who do you think you are? Do you even deserve to enter?"

A sharp glint flashed in Arnold's eyes. "I've seen you somewhere before."

Justin stood tall and firm. "All that is in the past now."

Arnold chuckled, stepping back to meet Dexter's gaze. "Mr. Russell, your subordinate is quite brazen."

Without a hint of emotion, Dexter signaled Justin to withdraw his hand.

"Dexter! That is my sister!"

Dexter remained silent, his expression unchanged. Left with no other choice, Justin had to withdraw his hand.

Arnold strode into the ward, just in time to see the nurse changing Josie's medication. A long red mark stretched across her arm, a sight that was startling to behold.

His gaze was intense. After a brief glance, he started to walk away. "I will give you an explanation."

No sooner had Arnold left than Larry withdrew his gaze. "Mr. Russell, is this the end of this? I think those security guards won't survive."

This should have been the end of the matter.

Dexter's complexion still didn't look good. His mind was filled with the image of Josie collapsing on the ground. "That piece of land at the Rivodia-Wavery border, tell your subordinates that there's no need to give it up. I want it."

Larry was horrified. "But isn't this too risky with Mr. Dalton?"

"Let Arnold experience what the butterfly effect truly means."

Dexter rose to his feet, handing the medicine that was in his pocket to Larry. "Don't let Josie see it."

"Okay."

Justin had sharp eyes, spotting the label on the bottle. The medication was clearly related to the heart. He glanced at Dexter a few more times.
