"You're being ridiculous," the person continued. "Those assets belong to our family. How can an illegitimate daughter possibly covet them?"

Josie had grown tired of the ongoing disputes among wealthy families.

She said to Charles, "I'm not going back because of all the constant bickering. It's exhausting and draining. I have no desire to live the high society life either. Could you please pass a message to the Olsen family for me? I have no plans of returning, so they need not worry. They should focus on their health."

After much hesitation, Charles finally nodded in agreement. He glanced back at the waiter standing behind him.

The waiter grew impatient under Mallory's intense gaze. With a lift of his head, he gave her a warning look, as if to say that if she kept staring, he would harm her.

Charles said, "I'll have the driver take you all home."

Josie politely declined, "No need, we have a car."
