Bitten
Chapter 15

Sweat.

Flashing lights.

Music blasting.

Erratic breathing.

Neon is the newest club in town where all the young people are going to hang out and meet new people.

It’s a Friday night so the music and alcohol are flowing. I thought about ditching Wes but I am sure that he would come and get me at my apartment so I came here a little earlier than we agreed to see what I was up against.

The colorful lights are going and the place smells of sweat and urine. Scrunching up my nose I breathe through my mouth not wanting to gag from the incisive stench of the place.

On the dance floor, people are rubbing their sweaty bodies against each other moving to the fast pace music.

Sitting at the bar I have a clear view of most of the people at the club. Wes is not amongst them.

The sound of a glass being put down behind me makes me turn to look at the bartender. He smiles at me and points towards the other side of the bar.

“Someone wanted to buy you a drink,” he smiles politely and walks away getting his other costumers drinks.

I stare at the drink like it’s a foreign object.

Can vampires drink? Do we get drunk?

I have not had a drop of alcohol since I turned twenty-one. I had the worst hangover and no recollection of the night before.

Where’s Wes when I need him.

“That drink is not strong.”

A man appears next to me taking the empty seat. He is dress in a suit with his top two buttons of his shirt untied and he rolls up his sleeves as he gets comfortable.

“You don’t say,” I push it back away from me.

“Don’t be like that I paid good money for that drink the least you can do is drink it.”

The pain in my gums starts to irritate me much like the guy before me.

“I didn’t ask you to buy it if you paid good money for it maybe you should drink it.”

My fingers wrap around the glass as I push it towards him and the liquid spills all over his pants and shirt. His nose flares and his eyes narrow.

“You bitch,” he hisses at me as he pushes himself off the stool and tries to make his way towards me.

“What are you going to do - hit me?” I smirk at him, I would love to see that.

“Is there a problem here?”

An arm snakes around my waist as I am about to break the arm of whoever put a hand on me he presses me closer and I glance over at Wes.

His eyes are locked on the man that I just spilled my drink on. The man is about a head taller than Wes but he doesn’t make a move towards us anymore.

“No problem at all.”

He grabs a napkin and dabs his pants trying to get as much liquid out of them as possible.

“That’s what I thought,” Wes pulls me making me slide off the chair and into his arms. “Come let’s go.”

I don’t fight him as he takes me towards the dance floor.

“I seriously thought I was going to have to drag you out of your apartment.”

“That was almost the case but look at me I’m a girl of her word.”

I force a smile on my face as I know the reasons for being here.

It’s part of my training and the part that I have been pushing back the ugly side of being a vampire, the feeding.

Wes pulls me close to him as he starts moving us around the dance floor. He tries to mold our bodies together but my stiff body would have none of that.

Instead, we sway to the music not fitting in with the rest of the people around us.

“Have I told you how beautiful you look?”

He told me to dress the part and I decided it is best to go with what he says.

The black mid-thigh length dress hugs me like a lover should showing off my curves. The lacey long sleeves make me fit in well with the crowd. My black stilettos would have me shaking at my knees when I was human but I walk in them with the confidence they also make my legs look amazing.

“I love that color on you,” Wes’ eyes are on my lips. Not wanting to look like I was Gothic I put on bright red lipstick.

“Thanks. What now?”

The way Wes’ eyes rake over me and the tip of his tongue skim his lips makes me uncomfortable and the faster we get this over with the sooner I can go home.

“Why are you in such a rush?”

His dancing style didn’t quite fit the club. It is more suited for a ballroom than the dance floor.

“I have to work today,” my eyes wander over the people around us not wanting to meet his.

“Fine,” his voice is stern, “let your instincts take over and tell me who pulls you in. Let your sense of smell lead you to the one that can fulfill your hunger.”

His lips are next to my ear as a hiss escapes his lips, he has found the one he wants.

I close my eyes and breathe in slowly my mind making the smell of urine and sweat disappear and concentrate on the liquid of life running through everyone’s body. Their blood at the surface as their flush skin rubs against other people. The pulse and heartbeat registers in my ears and the fangs slowly start to protrude.

My eyes open and they are on a young man maybe in his early twenties dancing with a girl. Grinding together I lose all my senses and the music and smell overtake me again but my eyes never leave the man.

His eyes flicker my way a couple of times and the smile on lips tell me he is happy to have caught my attention.

“Now you befriend him and take him somewhere where you two can be alone.”

I nod not taking my eyes off of him as my body urges me to move towards him. My body is like a tigress. My movements are graceful but lethal. My hips move, swaying, to the music as I make my way towards him.

Wes is by my side captivating his dancing partner. She walks away from him and straight into Wes’ arms.

The man stares at me with his eyes darkening with lust. His eyes traveling my body as I get closer to him. The smirk on his face tells me he thinks he has captured me with his looks.

You’re in for a treat... more pain than pleasure.

My hand travels down his chest as a husky groan escapes him and with a seductive smile, he is like putty in my hands.

My face inches from him I breathe, “follow me.”

I turn on my heels and walk towards the dark halls leading towards the bathrooms. The hasty footsteps tell me he is following like a lost puppy.

As we enter the dark hall my conscience decides to make an appearance.

This is not you. You’re not a murderer. Abigail, think this through. He’s human...he can be a husband or father.

If he’s a father or husband, he shouldn’t be here.

My fangs poke at my bottom lip. The man grabs my waist and turns me around to look at him.

“Enough with the games.” He presses me against the dirty wall his body pinning down.

“No more games,” my voice sounds hungry but not the same hunger he has.

He grins down at me and my hands move up from his abs feeling every dip and crevice in his muscular body. He groans closing his eyes in ecstasy. My hands reach his cheeks and I push his head back.

My senses heighten as his veins around his neck become more visible and his aroma wafts towards me.

No!

I have no control over what happens my lips go straight to the spot where his pulse is booming away at me. The sound of flesh being punctured does things to me. My body molds to him making it seem as if we’re in a hot make-out session.

The only thing that escapes the man is a quiet, “Oh.”

His blood flows freely into my desperate mouth. His body grows weak and static. My mind tells me that’s enough I’m going to kill him, but another part of me doesn’t care.
