BITE {Discontinued}
That Fateful Day (2)

His morning started out like any other day.

Peaceful fucking silence.

It wasn't that he didn’t like it; he just longed to have another heartbeat close to him. Sighing deeply, he got off his bed and stretched, then pulled on track pants and a shirt, being as silent as he could as he made his way down to the gym in his basement.

By the time it was 7am, his clothes were drenched with sweat and the air felt humid. He panted heavily as the last of his anger and frustration left him, and the emptiness fully consumed him.

“I want my mate. I want her so bad.” The voice whined, and he sighed deeply.

“I know. I want her too.” He replied out loud, and rubbed the spot above his heart where it had a never-ending ache since he turned sixteen.

He politely greeted the other occupants of the large house as he made his way back to his room. Before he could cross the threshold, a familiar voice called out his name. He turned to the source, seeing his younger sister Violetta.

“Mom won’t let me go to the library unless I have ‘older supervision’, so”, she dramatically air quoted ‘older supervision’, and he chuckled, leaning against his door. “will you please come with me? Please Nox? I’ll never bother you again.” Both him, and his wolf, Zev, snorted at the declaration.

He knew his baby sister. Sure, she was studious and did what she had to do, but she was also easily distracted. An attractive male and the work would be cast aside. An interesting piece of gossip and the assignment was long forgotten.

He was sure their mother noticed that she was more distracted than usual, and now she needs to be policed. Nox wanted to laugh at her dilemma.

“I’ll go with you. There’s no need to make promises you won’t keep.” Violetta glared at him and huffed.

“Whatever. Just hurry up so we can get there early.” Nox hummed, and turned into his room, pushing the door closed with his foot.

The warm spray of water slightly eased the tension in his muscles. He washed up on autopilot, his mind occupied with other matters. Once he finally came to again, he was seated in the driver seat of his car, dressed in jeans and a dark blue shirt that hugged his upper body, much to his distress.

It always attracted unwanted attention, and with the mood he woke up in today, that unwanted attention was going to see the asshole in him.

Violetta sang along to the radio, and he rolled his eyes so many times he started to fear that they would get stuck. As they neared the library, Zev perked up, and Nox tensed, ready to deal with any threat to his sister.

But as soon as he stepped out of the vehicle, a mouth-watering scent attacked his senses and nearly knocked him over.

“MATE! MATEMATEMATEMATEMATE!!” Nox could have wept with joy as Zev chanted that blessed word over and over again. His breathing became shallow and his heart palpitated. “Nox? What’s wrong?” Violetta asked, concern etched on her face.

“Mate.” He breathed out, and her features morphed from shock to pure elation. “Oh, Goddess. Go! Go find her!”

His feet carried him up the stairs and through the door, past several shelves of books and mingling people, before he spotted her.

Oh Goddess, did he feel blessed.

Beautiful dark skin, like bronzite; dark, curly hair pulled into an adorably messy bun, stray curls poking out here and there. His heart nearly burst through his chest.

He felt almost weird, just standing there, looking at her. Almost.

He moved, drawing closer and closer to that intoxicating cinnamon and cherry blossom scent. Nox had no idea what he was doing; only that his body was moving and they were on a collision course.

Before he knew it, his shoulder slammed into her side and she went toppling over, the books piled into her hands sent tumbling to the ground.

She let out a soft squeak of surprise and her hands scrambled for purchase. Just before she hit the ground, his hands wrapped around her waist. Nox pulled her up gently, and the clash of silver and hazel almost made him drop her.

“MINE! Mine, mine, mine! Mate!” Zev could barely contain his excitement. It felt like forever and a lifetime passed as their eyes stayed locked on each other. He surprised himself when he finally spoke.

“Are you okay?” he saw her gulp before she nodded meekly. “Yes, I’m okay. Thank you.” Both Zev and Nox were sure they heard angels singing; her voice was so soft and angelic, and they couldn’t wait to hear it; all the time, everyday. His angel stood on her own two feet, then dropped to her knees.

“I fucking love where this is going.” Nox shuddered.

“Head out of the gutter, Zev.” Nox chided his wolf as he crouched, picking up the spilled books and stray papers from the floor. He had no control over his eyes as they drifted to her every second, committing her features to memory.

Once the floor was cleared, he handed the papers over to her, purposely brushing his fingers against hers. She gasped softly, jerking her fingers away as the warmth and tingles spread from that minimal contact.

“T-thank you.” His angel murmured as she rose to her feet, her cheeks flushed even with her dark skin. He absentmindedly licked his lips, his mind going down the gutter to join Zev’s.

Her hazel eyes peeked at him as she drifted past him and walked away, her hips moving deliciously. There was a low rumble at the base of his throat as his shoulders sagged and his imaginary tail thumped the ground in excitement.

When she turned around the corner, his mind finally moved out of the gutter and started to work again. “W-wait!” he ran in the direction she took, and after his mate.
