Sarah Williams – POV 

I got some pasta boiling while I began making some sauce to go with it. I know that what I am feeling towards Noah is not love, but it is something more than love. He has taken the place of an older brother that I always wanted, and it is agonizing to not have him here now. The cabin was consumed by a deafening silence, so I took my phone and dialed my mom’s number. She answered the phone on the second ring. and I soon put her on the loudspeaker and placed my phone on the kitchen table. 

“Cupcake, how are you?” her cheerful voice was like a breath of fresh air. I took out some large tomatoes and onions and sat on the chair, and began chopping the vegetables. 

“Surprisingly, I am doing better today, mom. So, did Alpha Vanguard come back?” I asked her, and she cleared her throat a few times before she answered. 

“Yes, he came back to the pack house last night, and he made his way straight to the pack dungeon,” she said, and there was a pause. “I heard that tortured and killed two rogues in prison. What happened, Sarah?” she asked me, and I heard a hit of hesitation in her voice. I know that she doesn’t want to force me to tell her, but I told her everything that happened. 

“Sarah, you know you are both walking on thin ice?” 

“I know, mom, but that was the only way to stop his advances,” I explained, and I took a plate and went over to the sink to wash it. “And, I think, he got the message since he left the pack immediately,” I said and looked out the window, my

heart skipped a beat, and the plate that was in my hand slipped and fell back on the skin with a loud thud. 

“Sarah, are you hurt? What was that?” my mom’s panicked voice filled the kitchen, but I could not take my eyes away from the rogue that was standing just a few feet away from my kitchen window with a sinister smirk on his face. He was wearing a mask that was covering his entire face except for his eyes and mouth. “Sarah! Answer me!” I was broken out from my shocked state, I wiped my hands on the kitchen towel, and I quickly made my way to the table and took my phone. 

“Mom, um, Alpha Blaze is here. Can I give you a call later?” 

“Sure, sweetie. Take care,” she said and I quickly said my goodbyes and made my way to the sliding door, and looked out to see that he was nowhere to be seen. 

“Should we go and check if he has gone?” I asked my wolf. 

“Did you forget about the death threat that is on our life, Sarah?” she asked me with anger, but my heart did not want to listen to her. His smile had a hidden meaning in it, and something in my heart is whispering that he has come in to kill someone. 

“We know how to fight, and if there is a real threat, then we will call beta Alan or the alpha. I don’t want another death to stain my hands, Jane.” I pledged with her, and she let out a heavy sigh before she nodded her head, I soon opened the sliding door and ran down the staircase and into the dark forest. 

The foul stench was still prominent, so I followed it and ran further into the forest. It didn’t take a long time before I came

closer to a few houses, and I exited the forest and stood in the road looking around to see where he is, and that is when I saw. him entering the main door of a small two–story house. I quickly made my way toward the house. 

“Argh!” a woman screamed in fear, and then a wail of a baby soon followed, and my heart sank to the pit of my stomach. She must be alone with her child. The sound was coming from upstairs, so I ran up to see that a door of the room at one end of the hallway was open, so I ran towards it. 

“Uh, you came just in time, Sarah.” the rogue’s deep voice said, and a shiver ran down my spine. He had a woman in a strong hold while the baby was crying her lungs out in her cradle. 

“Let her go!” I sneered, and he let out a humorless laugh. 

“Do you think I took all the risk to get inside this pack, to let this woman go? Do you think I am mad?” he asked me while I scanned the room discreetly to find any object that I can use 

as a weapon. 

“You are crazy to kill random people for no reason.” I sneered 

back at him. 

“Oh darling, I have my reasons and you will soon find that out,” he said, and I know that there was no point in talking to him, so I got the nearest lamp to my hand and ran at full speed and hit him hard on the head, which made him stagger back and the woman stepped away from his grip and ran to her baby. 

“Run!” I yelled, and she gave me a pitiful look before she ran out of the room with her baby. I was so focused on the woman that I didn’t see him charging toward me. He lifted me

in the air and slammed me on the wall a few times before my vision became blurred. And he kicked one last time before he ran out. My head was spinning, I got up and staggered my way out and that is when I saw he has caught her, the baby was on the floor, and the woman was already bleeding in her stomach. 

I took a wooden chair and hit him hard on the head, which made him turn his murderous eyes at me, and he stabbed me just a few centimeters down to my heart before he pulled out the knife, and that is when I saw the woman press a red button behind a small table, which made the rogue look up at the woman in alarm, and I took the opportunity to take the knife from his hand and stabbed him in the heart. 

“I will come back for you.” he sneered at me while putting pressure on his wound. “I will be right here,” I said with a sarcastic smile, he got up and ran back into the room from where we came, and I heard the window breaking.
