Sarah Williams – POV 

“Are you nuts, Sarah? How dare you point your finger at another male wolf and claim that you are going to get married to him?” Carmen yelled at me while his face turned red in anger, and he turned his piercing glance at Noah, who gave him a nonchalant smile. 

“You made your decision when you rejected me, Carmen. And I have made mine.” I asserted, but he remained silent because I know that he doesn’t have an answer to that question. 

“You can not get married to a person who might find his mate in the future, Miss. Williams. Just because Alpha Vanguard rejected you, doesn’t mean that you would not have a second chance mate. And that second chance mate must be waiting for your somewhere in this world.” I was speechless when Beta Alan got up from his place and walked towards me. His emphasis on the second chance mate showed me his undertone of anger, but other than that, he managed to conceal his emotions. “You can’t possibly betray his hopes now, right?” 

I gave him a mocking smile and straightened my back, and tightened my hold on Noah’s hand. “If my first mate was a jerk to me, what assurance do I have that my second change mate would not be equally horrible?” I asked him, and I saw him curl his hands. into a fist. 

“Miss.Williams, you haven’t still answered the question that beta Alan asked.” Alpha Blaze said, and this made me frown at him. “Would you leave Noah, if he finds his mate?” Carmen had a small smirk on his face, while Zachary crossed his arms with a content smile on his face. I had no answer to this question, and I know that

I can not ruin Noah’s life either, so I decided to answer that I would leave him if he happens to find his mate. 

“That question is unnecessary at the moment. Because I will never find my mate again.” the revelation made everyone’s attention turn toward Noah. “Noah?” I whispered and lightly tucked at his sleeve, but he placed his hand on mine and shook his head. 

“Dimitri knows that I found my mate two years ago and lost her the very next day. So, there wouldn’t be a need to worry about that.” my heart fell to the bottom of my stomach while everyone looked at Dimitri for confirmation, and to my devastation, he slowly nodded his head. No one dared to ask what happened to her, but from the pained look on Alpha Blaze’s face, I know that he would not ask such a question unless Noah is willing to talk. “So, I have nothing to lose. Alpha Blaze,” Noah addressed the alpha. “Will you object to my relationship with Sarah?” 

“I…I don’t think I have a say in that if you both mutually agree to be in a relationship, and since there are no problems…” 

“Alpha Blaze, how could you give a verdict like this?” Carmen interrupted. 

“Alpha Vanguard, if you had already rejected your mate and she had accepted the rejection, then according to the werewolf law, you have no claim on her.” this made Carmen glare at all of us before he stormed out of the dining room. Beta Alan was shaking in anger, and his iris was completely black at the moment, and his glance was fixed on me. 

“Where are you going, Zachary?” Alpha Blaze asked when Zachary was about to leave the room too. He stopped in his track just an inch away from me and turned around to face the alpha. 

“I need to go and take care of an issue near the border, Alpha,” he

replied, and before Alpha Blaze could question further, Beta Alan ran out of the room too. My heart sank when I saw the look of hatred in his eyes, but my heart was slowly consumed by an ice- cold silence that made any emotions surface. 

“Well, I don’t think we should waste all this food just because two people stormed out of the room, right?” Alpha Blaze broke the tension in the air, and he gestured for us to take a seat, we soon made our way to the dining table and took a seat. Breakfast went by in a breeze, and soon I was making my way toward my office. The paperwork from the first day I came here was still piled on my desk, so I dropped my handbag on the floor and began to work on it. 

Ring, ring. 

“Hello, I am Sarah Williams, Mr.Zachary Alan’s secretary speaking. How may I assist you today?” 

“Good morning, Miss. Williams. I am calling from the border patrol, I have been trying to mind–link Beta Alan, but he has blocked us all out. Could you please inform him that his father has come to the pack to see him?” 

“Sure, I will convey the message,” I said, and soon the line went dead, and I got up from my desk. My hands and feet felt cold while precipitation formed on my forehead. I never heard about beta Alan’s parents before, and for me to meet his father right now, made chills run down my spine. I quickly made my way to his room and knocked on the door several times, but even after ten minutes, I didn’t hear his voice, so I slowly opened the door and leaned against it to peep into the room to see that the office was empty. 

Hasn’t he come back from his run? It’s past lunchtime now.

“I believe my son isn’t inside.” a gruff voice asked from behind me, and I jumped in fright, my hand slipped from the door handle, pushing the door wide open, and I lost my balance and fell face first on the mahogany floor. 

Ouch! 

“I didn’t mean to scare you there. Are you all right, dear?” the man immediately helped me up, and I adjusted my skirt and looked up. He was as tall as beta Alan and well built but what captivated me was the forest green eyes, the same color as Beta Alan’s. He looked like an older version of the beta Alan, but his handsome features seemed to have sharpened with age. My cheeks immediately flushed red with embarrassment. 

Well, that was a great first impression, Sarah. 

“I…I…um…I am fine. Please, come in.” I said and opened the door wider for him to enter. 

“Would you like to have anything to drink, Mr.Alan?” I asked him, and he shook his head while he made his way further into the office and stood in front of the huge window behind beta Alan’s desk. 

“If you could find beta Alan and bring him here, that would be all I need,” he replied, and I nodded my head, even though he would not be able to see me, and then I soon left the room.
