Sarah Willaims – POV

“What are you doing here, Dimitri? Why aren’t you on the training grounds?” Beta Alan asked sharply while he maintained direct eye contact with me.

“I have already finished my training session, so I came back to the house to take some rest before I go and meet the Alpha,” Dimitri explained, but it looked like Beta Alan was not hearing a word that Dimitri was saying. His glance slowly moved down my body and to my bruised ankle, and I saw him wince before he turned around to look at Noah.

“When we entered the house, we heard Sarah scream. So, we rushed to see what happened.”

“She had twisted her ankle while tumbling down the stairs.” Dimitri finished, and I tried to get up from the sofa when Noah pushed me back down.

“Where are you planning to go?” Noah asked me.

“I am going out,” I said and pushed his hand away and got up from the sofa, but the moment my feet touched the floor, an excruciating pain shot through my body, which made me let out a yelp, and I saw through my peripheral vision, Beta Alan take a step forward to hold me, but he stopped himself at the last minute.

“Looks like our mate does care for us after all.” Jane chimed in, but I ignored her comment..

“Noah, can you carry me to my car?” I asked him, and Noah nodded his head and carried me bridal style.

“Noah, don’t you have any training sessions to conduct?” Beta Alan asked him, and I looked to see that there was anger swirling in his eyes which greatly confused me. I mean, isn’t he the one who just had sex with another woman while I was only a few feet away from him?

“Even if he has, I want him to come with me to town since I cannot drive in this state.”

“Miss.Willaims, you are…”

“I don’t want to speak to you any longer, Beta Alan,” I said, which aggravated him even more, and both the other two men in the room looked at me in awe. “Let’s go,” I said while pulling Noah’s collar, he nodded his head, and he gave Beta Alan an apologetic look before he took me outside. Once I was safely buckled up in the passenger seat, Noah took the driver’s side, and then we were off to town.

The shop that was located for me was not that far from the beta’s pack. It was a small wooden cabin with the front wall entirely made out of glass that was smothered in dust and pamphlets. There was a small parking space in front of the cabin which had a lot of dried leaves and it was also muddy. After Noah, parked in front of the cabin, he came to my side and helped me get out of the car.

“Do you have the key?” he asked me, and I gave him the keys that were inside my handbag.

After a lot of twisting and turning, Noah was finally able to push open the cabin door and he entered first while I

followed him. As I expected, this place was a mess. There was a broken desk in the far right corner that had papers and dust collected on it. The floor was sca ttered with more papers, cardboard boxes, and a broken coffee mug. The walls. of the cabin had posters of dress designs, branded

handbags, shoes, etc… From all the things here, I concluded that this must have been a clothing store.

“Who rented this place before me?” I asked Noah while having to form a men tal plan as to how am I going to finish. cleaning this entire place out.

“It was a man, he was not that old, maybe in his late thirties. But from the state of this store, it looks like he didn’t come here to run a business.” Noah said when he picked up a piece of paper. I hopped my way toward him and peered down at the paper that he was holding. It had a drawing of what looked like a rock that was colored red.

“Maybe this was a new design that he was planning to make,” I suggested, and Noah looked up and me with a bizarre expression.

“Unless he was making clothes out of rocks. This design. looks strange to me.” Noah said, and I shook my head.

“Okay, enough poking around the past. Let’s start cleaning this place.” I said while clapping my hands together, and Noah gave me a confused look.

“You never told me that I am supposed to help you clean.” Noah tried to protest, but I pushed him and threw a

broomstick towards him that I found in the storeroom.

While I took a huge garbage bag and started to dump all the

“I won’t be able to clean all this alone. So, you will have to help me. Thank you.” I said and gave him a big smile, and he sighed before starting to clean. We were cleaning in silence for two hours now, and my ankle was much better. “Hey, what is going on between you and beta Alan?” Noah asked me out of the blue,.and I stopped picking up the papers and looked at him.

“No…nothing.” I stammered. My heart was palpitating, and my hands started to tremble, I didn’t want anyone to know about my relationship with Beta Alan. Because who knows, they might start to tease me and call me names like what happened in my previous pack.

“That doesn’t sound reassuring, Sarah.”

“I am working as his PA, that is all.” I tried to reassure him, but I heard the broomstick drop to the floor and heavy footsteps approaching me.

“No one who raises their voice against him lived to tell the tale. And it was surprising how Beta Alan spared you after you literally defied his orders.” I sighed and straightened my back.

“If he chooses to react that way, then I am not responsible for that, Noah. Please, don’t pester me about this anymore!” I yelled at him, all my pent-up anger just burst out, and I saw Noah’s eyes rapidly changing color while his hands were curled into fists. I know that no higher-ranking wolf would

The atmosphere was surrounded by a thick silence that was dense with emotions. I was able to count every single time my heart beats, it was like anticipating something that can either be good or bad for you. Noah was shaking terribly, and I was afraid that he might shift and lose control of his wolf. Before anything happens, he stormed out of the shop, and I saw him running towards the forest and changing into his grey wolf midair.

I let out a huge sigh of relief, but my heart was overcome with guilt. Noah was the only person who spoke to me and looked after me in that pack, and I think, I might have lost the one true friend that had. I didn’t have the mood to go back to the pack and face anyone yet, so I took the broomstick that was on the floor and started sweeping the place to distract my mind.

Time flew by like the wind, and I dropped the broomstick and made my way outside. The Moon was now out, and I heard the howling of wolves in the distance. While my stomach was growling like a grizzly bear.

“I guess we might have to head home now,” I said to no one in particular and went back inside and took my handbag and the keys, after locking the place, I made my way to the car and dumped all my things in the back seat before I got into the driver seat. I drove past the turning to the pack, the road was lonely, which gave me a serene feel. Midway through my night drive, I parked my car on the curb of the road and ..
