Marisela

I woke up at some point during the night, and I struggled to go back to bed. With a sigh, I sat up in the dark. I noticed that there was a light coming in the room. As I looked to the bookshelf, it was open and the secret stairway was on full display. The light was coming from upstairs.

Someone is up there.

I silently get out of bed, switching on the bedside lamp allowing me to see better. I quietly made my way upstairs.

When I get to the top of the stairs, the door is already open. I took a shaky breath and walk in. Kael sat at his desk with his arms on the desk and his head placed in his hands. My heart fluttered at the sight of him.

"Kael." I call. He quickly lifts his head in my direction.

"Princess." He says surprised to see me standing there. I hadn't seen him in so long. I was annoyed at him, but right now as I'm looking at him, that didn't matter. My heart was racing a mile a minute.

Guilt washes over me as I notice how tired he looks. Has he slept at all? I slowly walk over to his desk and sit down on the chair in front of his desk. Something dark flashes in his eyes as he watches me. My knees felt week under his gaze.

"You're awake." He says like it's the obvious thing ever, and I shrug.

"I couldn't sleep." I look at him concerned, "have you slept at all?" He looks at me, his jaw tensed, and then he slowly shakes his head "no"

My body so badly wanted to touch him, to be near him. Every time I was close to him, it was as if all rationality left my brain, and all I could think about was him.

I had to restrain myself from doing anything crazy and out of character.

"I'm not mad at you Kael," I tell him after a few moments. Relief washes through his features as he looks into my eyes again, then suddenly he's eyes turn cold and distant as he looks away from me.

"But you are afraid of me." He says quietly. The room feels cold. I wrap my arms around myself, and turn my face to the floor.

It sounded more like a fact then it did a question.

Was I truly afraid of him?

Sure, he isn't human, but I'm not human either. After a few long agonizing mintues, I finally look up at him. His gaze was hard as he looked out the window, lost in thought.

I cleared my throat, "No," I say and he's eyes snap towards me, "I'm not afraid of you Kael." He's gaze turns soft. I could tell he was a little uncertain so I continued.

"I'm not afraid of you, but I'm not entirely excited about the fact that you're not entirely human." I sigh, "it's not at all what I expected, you wouldn't understand." I say the last part more to myself.

I hear Kael sit up and take a deep breath. The room is quiet again, and I knew that I should say more, tell him who I am.

I just didn't know how.

"Apart of me knew I shouldn't have ran away from you, but I chose to ignore it." I say instead.

"I understand." He says.

"But that's the thing Kael, you can't possibly understand, you don't know me, you have no idea who I am." I tell him, with so much emotion, wanting to tell him the truth of who I am. I hear Kael get up from his chair and slowly walk towards me

"Then tell me who you are Princess."

"I can't, I don't know how." I whisper shamefully. I instinctively push further into the chair the closer he gets, and he notices this, stopping in his tracks.

"You're my mate." He says deeply, with a hint of emotion, "I would never hurt you Marisela."

In that moment, I knew. I knew Kael would never hurt me.

In that moment, my heart began to pound in my ears, and my body started to fire up at his close proximity.

He was only an arms reach away, and all my brain could think about was being close to him.

We stared in silence looking at each other. I couldn't help but let my eyes flicker down to his lips. And then back to his eyes.

Why did I just do that.

My heart sped up at the way he was looking at me now. Desire flashes in his eyes followed by other emotions I couldn't quite pinpoint. Slowly Kael moves towards me and this time I didn't flinch. In a matter of seconds he was right in-front of me.

Slowly I inched my face closer to his, as if my body was moving on it's own. His eyes flickering to my lips once more.

Then, everything was still. The world around us didn't exist, it was just him and I. Then his lips were on mine. My eyes immediately closed.

Sparks. Literal fucking sparks.

My heart was hammering inside my chest. All my senses heightened. As if someone took over my body, my arms instantly circled around his neck pulling him closer to me. His one hand gripping the back of my neck pulling me close to him. I hear him growl. This simple notion made my knees go weak.

The kiss was hot and feverish, and I could feel a warm sensation bruing between my legs. I heard him growl again and the kiss felt more intense. This only encouraged me more.

His tongue brushing against my lips asking for permission. I gasp slightly at the feeling, but Kael took it as my permission. I feel him lift me up, my legs instantly wrap around his waist. His tongue dancing with my own. We kiss with such urgency.

My hands slip into his hair, pulling him even closer. This only made him kiss me with more hunger. I lost myself in the kiss, I didn't know when he had lowered me on to the desk. The cold hard wood pressed against my back.

At some point the T-shirt I was wearing had risen, exposing more of my thighs. Kael's hands managed to slip under my top, and my body tingled every where his hand touched. His hand stopped when he noticed I wasn't wearing any underwear.

He looks up into my eyes, only he's eyes were much darker now, and gosh that didn't help me one bit.

In this moment, I wanted him so badly, I wasn't thinking straight, it was as if my soul had left my body and my body was moving on it's own accord.

Slowly his hands made their way up my stomach and eventually his fingers were cupping my breast. I moaned. He was rough, but it didn't hurt, it felt good. He let out another growl and that only turned me on more.

My willpower shriveling into a million pieces at his touch. My body reacted to his touch like oil on a blazing fire. My kisses were shy but needy, his were possessive and demanding.

His touch sent a pulse of pleasure throughout my body, making me shiver in excitement.

"Princess." He growls. I moan at the sensation. His lips move from my lips down to my neck. He starts teasing me there. The feeling was unexplainable. I wanted more of him.

I needed more of him.

I felt his canines against the skin on my neck making me gasp.

Then, he stops.

A sigh of frustration, arousal, rejection and longing leaves my lips when his own leave mine suddenly. Our eyes meet. I gasp at the sight of his own.

Gold.

Using his abnormal speed, he climbs off of me and is across the room before I could even process what had just happened.

A low growl erupts from his throat and I watch as he closes his eyes in concerntration. When he opens them again they are barely back to their normal color.

His wolf is fighting to take over.

"Marisela-" he was breathing heavy, "I need to go." I know I should let him go, but the part that ached for him, couldn't let that happen. It was selfish, I know.

"No." The word slips past my lips. I pull myself off the desk and slowly yet carefully walk towards him, "please don't leave."

I knew I was playing a dangerous game, especially when he was trying to fight his wolf for me, but I didn't care. I wasn't even sure if I wanted to go further, but, what I did know was I wanted him right now, I didn't want him to leave.

Who was I right now?

"Princess, you don't understand." He struggles to speak, he's voice coming out deeper than before, "I'm trying to fight my wolf, he wants to mark you now."

If I thought I was at a loss of words before, I was clueless now.

Marisela control yourself!

As if reading my mind, he looks down at my hardened nipples, and lets out a low growl. The look he gives me made me want him even more.

"You're not ready princess." Before I could say anything else he storms out of the office, and in seconds I hear the bedroom door slam shut.

And just like that he was gone.

The reality of what just happened slapping me right in the face.

My fingers instantly touch my lips. My lips were slightly swollen from the kiss. I let out a shaky breath as I hobble my way downstairs to the bathroom. When I take note of my appearance in the mirror, I almost jump. My hair was wild, my lips swollen and face flushed.

I've never been kissed that way before- in fact I've never been kissed in general. But never did I expect my first kiss to be that hot and steamy before.

Oh gosh, I wanted more of him.

Every sense of rationality left me the moment his lips were on mine. My body craved him.

I don't know what happened moments earlier, but whatever it was, that wasn't me. It was as if my body was there but my mind had completely disappeared and instead, the only thing ringing in my head was Kael.

Is this the mate bond Maria explained to me about? Gosh, I was way in over my head.

I really need to go back to my room. I couldn't stay here, in his room. I had to leave. It was way too late in the night to go to my room, so I decided I would do that in the morning, for now, I made my way over to the couch and made myself comfortable- as comfortable as I could get.

I still couldn't sleep. My mind was all over.

An hour had passed when I heard the door slowly open.

Kael. My reason for not sleeping.

He looked a little less distressed. The surprise was evident on his face when he saw me still awake.

He came back.

His eyes went cold as soon as he realized where I made myself comfortable.

"Sleep on the bed, Marisela." He says, leaving no room for discussion.

"I can't sleep there Kael." I argue. "I have to return to my room."

His jaw tenses, he looks to be debating with himself. Eventually I watch as understanding and defeat fall on his face.

"I will sleep on the couch." He says after a while. "You take the bed, in the morning I will take you back to your quarters."

Not being able to speak, I silently nod my head in agreement. Slowly I walk over to the bed and jump under the covers, Kaels eyes were on me the whole time. Eventually, he drops his gaze and moves to turn off the lights. When the room is completely succumbed to darkness, I hear him make his way over to the couch. After a few minutes the room is quiet.

"Goodnight princess ." He whispers in the dark, making my heart skip a beat.

"Goodnight Kael." I say after a few seconds: I eventually turn over on my side with my back to him.

I know we still have a lot to talk about, and that we will. Hopefully tomorrow. Right now, I just needed some sleep.

It has to be this stupid mate bond!
