Kael

I stood by the large window over seeing the ocean. My mind was running wild with all these unimaginable thoughts. My father stood to the side of me looking out the window as well.

''We will find them, son.'' he speaks. I couldn't bring myself to speak or find any words that would agree with him. Instead I turn away and take a seat by the sofa. My frustration slowly growing. My father turns and watches me.

''Kael, we have to be smart about this. All we can hope for right now is that they are safe-''

"Bullshit!" I snap, "How can you say that? They've been kidnapped!" My father slightly narrows his eyes at my tone, then closes he's eyes. When he opens them, you can see the stress evident in them. A flash of heartbreak fills them for a brief moment before he shields them back up.

"You're mother was taken away from me, Kael, this isn't any easier on me too.''

''I know dad.'' I take a deep breath and calm myself, ''I'm sorry.'' He takes a swig of his drink and sighs.

There was a sudden knock at the door.

''Come in.''

"Alpha," Kofu- one of my top warriors- bows as he walks in to the room, "I've just been informed that Victor has arrived and he has the Seer with him."

"Thank you Kofu, send him up." I tell him. Kofu nods his head before turning on his heal and leaves the room.

"I hope you know what you're doing, son." My father says as he watches me from across the room. I ignore him and walk over to the bar pouring myself a scotch. The brown liquid burns my throat as I gulp it down in one sip.

It's been over twenty-four hours since we found out that my mate and my mother had been kidnapped. When the explosion happened, I immediately went to look for Marisela. I knew she was in the gardens with my mother, so when I got there and found them both no where to be seen, My wolf got furious. I had searched everywhere for them, until I picked up on their scents that led to the ocean.

We found Cory and four guards kneeling on the sand, head down. They looked like they were in some kind of trance, but as soon as they saw me, it was like they had snapped out of it. They were so confused as to how and why they were on the beach.

They didn't know what happened.

And that only infuriated me even more.

Although Cory is one of my closest friends, he couldn't be trusted, and he understood that too. Which is why I had ordered them to be locked up, until we found my mate and mother.

I'm not going to find any answers at the bottom of my scotch, yes, but I haven't slept since my mate was taken away from me. Take it as you will, but the scotch is keeping me from losing my shit.

A few moments later there is another knock at the door.

"Enter."

Dimitri walks in and bows respectfully. I nod and he straightens up.

''The Seer?'' I ask.

''Alpha, she's on her way up with Victor....'' he begins clearing his throat, ''but....''

''But?'' I ask.

''She isn't exactly what you would expect.'' he says, shifting uncomfortably.

''What do you mean-'' Just then there was another knock at the door.

''Enter.''

Victor walks in, followed by a woman. "Alpha." Victor bows in respect. With a stiff nod at him, he instantly straightens up, taking a step to the side, allowing a full view of the woman. Her hair was as black as night and sat in long wild curls down her back. Her clothes were old and dark in colour. There was something about her, something familiar but I couldn't pin point exactly what it was. My father noticed it too, as he looks at her in recognition.

"I presume this is the Seer." I ask looking at Victor.

"Yes Alpha," he nods.

"I have a name." She speaks. Her voice sounding hoarse. She boldly takes a step forward.

"My name is Avalon." She introduces.

"Well Avalon, you are a very hard person to find." I reply and she gives a wicked grin.

"My apologies Alpha," she says with a dramatic bow of her head, "I did not know that I was lost. Nevertheless I knew your men would find me."

"You knew his men were looking for you?" My father asks perplexed.

"Of course," she chuckles, "if I didn't want you to find me, your highness, believe me, you wouldn't have."

"Why not hide?" I ask curiously.

"Because, I heard a little rumor about your mate."Her eyes look directly at me, unsaid words hide behind her crinkled eyes.

"And what rumor would that be?" Dinitri asks, taking a threatening step towards her. Avalon smirks but doesn't take her eyes off of me.

"That the almighty Alpha Kael is mated to a siren." She says directly at me.

"So you know why you are here, then?" I ask ignoring her tone.

"The prophecy I presume," she cocks her head to one side.

"Tell us about this prophecy, Seer." My father sneers, taking a threatening step towards her. Her head quickly snaps to his, a smile gracing her face.

"I am no threat to you, your highness. In fact, I am merely a friend." She calmly states.

"We trust our friends," Dimitri speaks, "you," he spits at her, "are not a friend." She looks at him and laughs darkly.

"I will only offer my friendship to you once, but if you refuse, I will not offer twice." She threatens.

"Enough!" I bark. The tension in the room is thick. The presence of the Seer has made everyone- including myself- skeptical of her.

I did not trust her. But something within me was telling me otherwise.

"Tell me, Avalon," I begin, taking a curious step towards her, "how did you know we would be looking for you?"

"I got word that you were looking for me." She says. I wait for her to continue speaking, after a few seconds she does.

"I am not as young as you may think I am, I have lived far longer than an average..," she pauses as if trying to find the right word, "Human," she states, I look at her and frown.

"I," she points to herself, "like you, have become acquainted with many friends over the years."

"Liar!" My father demands.

"I have been called many names, but a liar is not one." She smirks, "believe me, I've been around for a long time, hence how I know more of this prophecy than any of you." Her eyes move across the room before landing on me.

"So you mean to tell me that you have spies in my kingdom?" I snarl. Avalon all but laughs.

"Spies? No. I may be wise but I am no fool your majesty." She says.

"Why should we even trust you."

"You shouldn't," She chuckles, "but given the circumstances I am your best bet."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean I am the only who could help you and your mate. But I do ask of one thing." There was an unsettling feeling in the pit of my stomach, making me growl at her in response.

"And what would that be?" I snarl.

Avalon looks at me, and for a split second I could see her charade falter. Deep within her eyes, I could see her pain and suffering.

"All I ask, is that you allow me to see your mate." My wolf instantly fights to the surface at the mention of my mate.

"You will never lay your eyes upon my mate." I take a threatening step towards her, and she takes a small step back in slight fear, but she quickly composes herself. I never noticed just how close I was to her.

"You already refused my friendship, however I am still choosing to help you and in return all I ask is that you allow me to see her." She walks towards me.

Suddenly her hands are on me. The last thing I expect was what happened next. Avalons eyes went a complete shade of white, and there was a yellow glow surrounding her aura.

"Your mate is a siren," she speaks. Her voice sounding a lot different than before, "she's a siren, but not just any siren, a very powerful one at that."

"Powerful?" I repeat. Avalon finally let's go of me and takes a few steps back.

"I knew it." She gasps, her eyes back to their normal shade. She looks around the room once more and notices how everyone else in the room is just as confused as I am. She shakes her head and a faint "unbelievable," leaves her lips. She begins to walk back and forth whispering a whole load of gibberish in a foreign language.

"What just happened?'' My father grits, his patience running thin. "How can we stop this prophecy?"

"You can't stop a prophecy!" She shouts. I could feel my wolf crawling on the inside wanting to be let out, but I refused. Clearly this woman knows more than she's letting out.

She stops, her face lost in thought, "you are asking the wrong question, you should be asking why is there a prophecy to begin with." She looks at me, "there is a vital part in the prophecy that you do not know."

"What is it?" I ask, all my attention focuses on the next words that leave her mouth.

I was about to stop her when she started to recite the same prophecy we were told over a hundred years. She kept repeating it as if trying to understand it herself. Then she stops and looks at me.

A look of determination evident on her face, she walks up to me, causing Dimitri and Victor to take a warning step towards her. I wave my hands and they halt.

Avalon stands in front of me, so many emotions run through her face, making her look like a crazed human. She looks to be having a conversation with herself in her mind. I quirk an eyebrow at her, waiting expectantly for her to speak.

''Someone in this castle has something to do with your mates kidnapping,'' she says catching me by surprise. A traitor?

''Someone who is not a werewolf.''

''A siren?'' Victor asks shocked and she nods.

''Search the castle and find whoever is behind this!'' I demand.

Dimitri and Victor nod and immediately leave the room.

''Why should I trust you?'' I ask Avalon.

''I am the only one willing to help you.'' she says, ''besides, whether you choose to believe me or not, I don't have anything to lose.''

''What's it to you?" My father asks, standing beside me. Avalon is quiet for a moment before looking at my father and I.

''I only ask that I meet your mate.'' she says in return.

"I already told you, my answer is no." I growl at her. Avalon tsks in frustration.

"I helped you even though you didn't ask, I told you about your traitor, I am not asking for much."

"Why are you so eager to see my mate." I growl at her.

''I have vital information for her,'' she says looking away. Her eyes drift back to me, pleading to me.

-------

Cory sat on the chair, his hands tied behind his back. He was looking down at his feet, avoiding my stare. I was growing more furious by the second.

After Dimitri and Victor left my office, I immediately came down to the cells where Cory was, leaving Avalon alone with my father. It was just Cory and I in the cell, the other guys were locked up else where.

I needed answers, but Cory wasn't speaking. I hated seeing him in this position, but I had no other choice, I couldn't trust him. Its because of him, that my mate is missing.

''Cory, I will ask you one last time,'' I growl, ''Where is she?'' Cory finally lifts his head and looks at me. His face filled with regret.

''Kael-''

''Alpha to you.'' I spat, a look of hurt crosses his face.

''Alpha,'' he corrects, ''I really don't know where they are... I-I can't remember anything.'' he sighs, ''I'm sorry.''

I look at him, a part of me wanted to believe him, but the other part of me couldn't bring myself to. I clenched my jaw and could feel the anger brewing inside of me. Without thinking I punch the brick wall, shaking the walls in the process. Cory flinches away from me in fear.

We were suddenly interrupted by footsteps running down the stairs.

''What is going on!'' I demand. Dimitri and Victor barge into the cell, taking note of the scene as both their eyes land on Cory. Pity fills Dimitri's features before they both straighten up and look at me.

''What is it?'' they look at each other in slight panic and then turn to me.

''There was another letter.'' Dimitri says.

''We were given the letter on our way here.'' Victor replies.

''I think you should read this.'' Dimitri says as he hands me the letter.

''She should have stayed away from the waters." The letter reads.

''Kael,'' Dimitri speaks, ''Maria brought the letter to us.'' I look at him waiting for him to continue.

''Her mother... she...''

''Speak.'' I bite.

Dimitri takes a deep breath before speaking.

''She's gone.''
