Chapter Two

“Serena! They’re at it again! If I have one more vase broken because some of your rogues cannot control themselves I will have them put down!” Lucien shouts up the stairs through the closed front door as I roll my eyes while getting dressed.

“At least he’s learnt not to barge in” Craig chuckles beside me as he gets out of bed, boxers revealing his perfect figure as I bite my lip looking him up and down, feeling the heat of passion throughout my body.

Lucien had had a knack of letting himself into my flat via the café, sometimes to his horror, while Craig and I were alone together enjoying each other’s bodies, so now he stood outside, waiting for us to reply, and let him in.

“I’m getting sick and tired of some of them,” I groan.

“We need to show them who is boss. We need to crack the whip baby, make them listen, be the alpha, use a show of force” Craig wanders over to me, encasing me in his arms as he nuzzles into my neck.

“I have better things to do rather than having to show my pack how to behave, we still haven’t found Oliver”

“WE will find him; WE will deal with them” Craig urges.

“When?! It’s been months! We haven’t heard a thing from him, Pauline can’t push our bond any further without fear of breaking it. Even the hunters have noticed a lack of the assholes infiltrating their quarters, they’ve disappeared!” I snap.

“We’ll find them all. I will personally rip Sebastian and the others apart for what they did to you” He growls as I turn in his arms, kissing his lips with a smirk as I feel his manhood against me.

“Is it bad I want to watch?” I wink as he chuckles growling playfully.

“SERENA!” Lucien shouts as Craig goes to chuck me on the bed. I roll my eyes and kiss Craig quickly before he lets me go.

“I’m coming!” I shout as Craig chuckles.

“You would be if he had left us ALONE!” He says loudly enough for Lucien to hear.

Craig had been insatiable lately, he hardly left my side, even when I was dealing with the pack, he was there, he was there when I was with our friends, he was there when I was with my family.

It got a little too much sometimes, I loved him with every bit of my heart, of course I did, but I had gone from having no one to suddenly having the world and it felt as if it were crushing me sometimes, I barely got a moments peace.

“Who broke something this time?” I sigh as I swung open the door, arms crossing in anger.

“Same one as always” Lucien answered.

“Alex, great,” I groan.

“He’s stubborn, argumentative, has no respect for your father’s pack nor the rest of yours. He’s through and through a rogue” Lucien adds.

“What would you have me do? He’s a good fighter and has managed to take down more vampires than most. He may be a dirty fighter, but he gets the job done. I’ll deal with him” I say as Craig throws me the door keys after having quickly got dressed, as we exit the flat and head down to the café.

“Deal with who?” Pauline raises a brow at me as we come through the door.

“Alex…Who else?” I say as she nods.

“Guy needs an ass whooping,” Pauline says as I smirk at her, she loved it when I went full-on alpha, they all did.

“We need to make a show of him,” Craig says as I sigh.

Craig wraps his arms around me as he bites at my mark on my neck, growling in dominance.

“FINE!” I growl, trying not to moan at his tongue on my mark before he unlatches himself from me with a smirk.

“Pack meeting tonight, everyone is to be there, no excuses!” I call out through the mind links to the pack.

“Yes Alpha” I get the unanimous reply.

“Good, now I must be off cupcake” Lucien waves.

“Not sneaking out cupcakes today?” Mum smirks.

“Not today” Lucien smirks.

Lucien left quickly as he said goodbye and I said another apology for my pack.

“Serena, are you having pack issues again?” Mum asks coming out of the kitchen with a new batch of cakes which smelt delicious.

“Alex causing trouble, as usual, I can deal with it”

“Hmm, he’s causing quite a few issues with the packs. Your father doesn’t approve of him” Mum frowns.

“I know, I’ve called a pack meet tonight, I’ll deal with him, will everyone get off my case!” I growl angrily as Craig’s hands touch me and I begin to calm a little.

“Serena! Attitude!” Mum snaps at me as her eyes glow with power from her wolf.

“Sorry mum, I…I need a run” I sigh.

“Then go for one” Vance chuckles as if it was the easiest thing to do.

“I’ll come with you,” Craig says as I give Vance a knowing look.

“Serena needs a few moments to herself I think Craig, let her breathe,” Vance says as Craig growls at him.

“What is wrong with you lately?! You’ve gotten so possessive!” I turn sharply to him as he’s glaring daggers at Vance.

“It’s dangerous for you to be alone, you’re my mate, I want to protect you” he shouts at me as the café goes quiet.

“Not in here,” Tony says from the kitchen doorway as his eyes dart around the room.

“Take a run Serena, Craig go to the packhouse, she’ll meet you there later” Mum orders.

“You are not my alpha” Craig growls.

“No, I am, if you dare talk to my mother like that again then we will have a huge problem Craig” I stand tall.

He’d left my fathers’ pack to join mine, of course, some of my wolves thought that meant he should be alpha and not me, the power went a little to his head as they seemed to submit to him rather than me.

He surges forward to me as he grips my body to his as he bites at my mating mark on my collarbone once again.

“You’re mine, don’t forget that, you’ll have MY pups, you are MY mate.” He growls into my shoulder as his hand grazes over my stomach.

That’s when I felt it, the surge of lust, the pain, my heat was coming…no, it was here.

“That’s why you’re like this…I’m going into heat again aren’t I?” I sigh into his arms.

“That makes a lot more sense…” Vance mutters, but his eyes wander warily over Craig as if ready to stop him from making a rash decision.

“You’ve been in heat the last few days Serena you can’t tell me you didn’t notice” Craig mumbles in my neck as I push him from my arms.

“What?!”

“Hey, guys!” Carla bounds up to us with a huge grin which slowly turns to a frown as she notices the look I’m giving Craig.

“Carla, come help me in the kitchen and leave those two alone. Serena and Craig you may want to take this upstairs, not here” Tony says.

I storm past Craig and head back up to the flat in a rage, how could I not know I was in heat? How could he have not said a word about it?! He knew! That’s why he’d been so insatiable!

“Why are you so angry Serena? Surely you knew you were in heat” Craig slams the door behind us.

“No, I didn’t have a clue!” I shout at him.

“You felt the lust right? The need to mate?” Craig asks as his hands hover over my skin and yes I felt the fierce pull towards him.

“Yes,” I answer softly.

“You felt the power between us, our mating links entwining with power, the need to be with one another,” He says as he pulls me to him as I gasp.

“Yes”

“You didn’t feel pain from heat because you succumbed to it” He kisses my neck again as I groan.

“Does that mean I’ll…Oh shit Craig, I’m not ready for this…I can’t have kids! Not now!” I shout.

“There is no guarantee you’ll get pregnant from your first heat, calm down Serena, but I have to say, I have no doubt you’ll make the most amazing mother in the world, we can do this” Craig cups my chin looking me deep in the eyes, but something looked odd, I couldn’t put my finger on it though.

“This isn’t the time to be having kids Craig, I’m not ready for it. We still have Oliver to find, I have the pack to deal with. I’m so overwhelmed by everything right now”

“Oliver is a dead man, get over it, Serena. We’ll deal with the pack together and you’ll just need to be the mother to our pups” Craig growls as I look at him wide-eyed.

I slap him hard around the face as he growls at me with anger. Something I had never seen in his face before, he had never been this angry towards me before.

“Oliver is my BETA he is one of US. He is alive and I will not stop until we find him! I am alpha of this pack Craig, do not forget that, YOU are not in charge and I am completely capable of taking care of MY pack. I will not JUST need to be a mother I am more than that! How dare you say that!”

“YOU ARE MINE! I will not share you with the pack!” He growls shoving me against the wall hard as the breath is knocked out of me.

I felt fear in me for just a moment, my mind going to times where I had been beaten before until I felt my alpha power swirl inside with my anger as he held on to me tightly, too tight.

I push against him using my power as he goes flying across the room before he jumps up and tries to pin me against the floor as we fight for dominance. I didn’t want to hurt him, he was my mate, I loved him but something in his eyes showed a fierce anger towards me that scared me.

“What the fuck?!” Tony and the twins barge in, staring at us as we fight in a whirl of rage, as I kick Craig flying across the room once more, a tear in my eye.

“Stand down Craig! I don’t want to hurt you!” I order.

“What the hell is wrong with him?!” Tony calls out as the twins grab an arm each, holding him back as he thrashes against them.

“She’s mine! Just mine! No one can have her! She’ll have my pups and that’s it! No more alpha! No Oliver! Home with the pups is where she will be!” Craig growls.

“Craig! Snap out of this!” David growls.

“Are you ok Serena? You’re bleeding” Tony touches my arm as I wince.

“It will heal…This can’t be just my heat affecting him like this can it?” I ask.

“No, this is something much more,” Daniel says, looking at his best friend with worry.

“What’s happened? I barely got a couple miles before Vance called me” Lucien rushes up the stairs as his eyes dart to the wounds on my arms.

“Get away from my girl!” Craig snarls.

“They won’t hurt me Craig,” I say but he doesn’t listen.

“Craig! I’m not going to harm her, calm down, she is your mate and we all know that.” Lucien stands in front of him, his eyes searching as if looking for something.

“Do we need Pauline?” Tony asks.

“Might be best, something’s not right” Lucien grumbles.

“Lucien…He’ll be ok, won’t he? He’s never been like this before” I murmur.

“We’ll find out what’s wrong, trust me.” Lucien nods.

“What on earth is going on today? I swear there is something in the air” Pauline sighs as she goes towards Craig but stops in front of me.

“Pauline?” Tony eyes her.

“Hand” She orders holding hers out to me as I put mine in hers.

Craig let’s out a loud roaring howl as the boys struggle to keep hold of him.

“Well you’re definitely in your heat, but that’s not the issue here.” She wanders over to Craig and places a hand on him.

Her hands begin to shake as Tony rushes to her side.

“Pauline!” He cries out as she falls to the ground.

“Pauline! What is it? Are you ok?” I panic.

“That…That’s not…That’s not Craig” She murmurs.

“What are you on about, witch?!” Craig growls angrily.

“Well it’s his body, but his mind, it’s not his own” Pauline adds.

“How…Who…Pauline, what do we do?” I cry as Craig thrashes around once more and getting out of their hold as he rushes for the door, I bolt after him trying to grab him as he takes off out the back door, missing him by inches.

“CRAIG!” I scream as I get to the edge of the woods, but he just disappeared, I looked all around in panic as I shifted, sniffing the air, but I couldn’t smell him, I couldn’t feel him either, it was like he was gone, just like Oliver.

“CRAIG!” I scream again as tears flood my eyes.

“Serena!” Lucien, the twins, and Tony all run towards me.

“He’s gone, he just disappeared!” I cry.

“We’ll find him” Tony nods as he flits around the woods while we all search high and low, but we find absolutely nothing.

“He can’t have just disappeared without a trace!” Lucien growls as we meet up by the back door, while I pace.

“Lucien, you need to get word to the packs, we need to get Pauline and her coven to check every single person for traces of anyone trying to take over their minds,” Tony says.

I could barely pay attention to them though, my mind was with Craig and Oliver who were now both missing from my life, who else was at risk? Who else would I lose?

I felt sick to my stomach, pain from the heat was beginning to take over as I groaned.

“I need to go for a run” I groan.

“Serena, we need to get you inside,” Daniel says touching my arm which still stung, the wound was not healing.

“What the hell” I murmur as I look at the wound.

“Lucien, her wound is not healing,” David says.

“It’s the heat, she won’t heal as quick without Craig by her side,” Lucien says.

“Run, need to run,” I say again, my wolf was begging to just run, something wasn’t right.

“Serena…” Lucien steps forward as I step backwards and shift, running fast through the trees.

“Serena!” they call out.
