Chapter 7

Sebastian caught Fiona’s eye as she startert to split. “Hold up, did I say I wasn’t gonna help you?” he called out to her.

Fiona stopped dead in her tracks, her face lighting up like she just got the best news even

Sebastian raised an eyebrow, a smile playing on his lips. “You’re such a firecracker—and you’ve got zero chill,”

Inside, Fiona was rolling her eyes. “Not another pep talk, she thought, totally done with getting schooled by Macy.

Sebastian laughed, “What if I told you I’m in? I’ll make sure you got that house and the dough.”

“You for real?” Fiona spun around, hope written all over her face.

Sebastian kicked back, swishing his wine around. He gave her the nod.

Fiona plopped back in her seat, straight as a ruler, hands neatly on the table, looking every bit like the good kid in class. “There’s nothing I love more than hearing out the folks who know stuff,” she said, all sweetness. “Go on, I’m all ears.”

Sebastian

bit back a smile at her quick change–up, letting out a low chuckle. Even he didn’t get why he was getting a kick out of this.

Fiona waited for him to spill, but when he didn’t, she jumped in. “You’re spot on, Mr. Quinn. My temper can totally flare up. Won’t happen again, promise. What else should I know?”

This time, Fiona meant business, pulling out her phone and getting ready to jot it all down.

Sebastian caught a glimpse of her phone, and it made him think of all those people hungry for cash, but Fiona’s blunt way was kind of a breath of fresh air. He wasn’t hating it–that was for sure.

ena, not even worrying about what he thought, hit record on her phone. “Just to be clear, the house and the cash you talked about–it’s all mine? When do we make it official?”

Sebastian looked at the phone and gave a small, “hm.” He continued, “As long as you’re smooth about it, you’ll get it all after a month. Consider the money done.”

Fiona’s smile was just about the sunniest thing. “I’ll make it easy, cross my heart. Mr. Quinn, running into you is like hitting the jackpot since I got to Jerraloth!”

Sebastian chilled out as he teased, “Geez, laying it on thick, aren’t you?”

Fiona shrugged. “I can’t help it. You’re too cool, Mr. Quinn.” She was thinking about the big bucks–like 80 million dollars big. How could she not butter him up? With that kind of money on the line, she could sing his praises all week long “So, you’re gonna help without any repayment, just like that?”

“Not a freebie,” Sebastian said, playing with the turquoise bracelet on the table. “I’m doing you a solid, so it stands to reason I’d get something out of it. I don’t need a favor now, but I’ll hit you up when I do.”

Fiona studied him, trying to read between the lines. His blue eyes were deep and mysterious. He seemed to not care much about anything, yet she felt like she was totally on his radar. After thinking for a moment, she flashed a big smile. “Sure, name it whenever. I owe you one.” Owing a favor to Sebastian could work in her favor. She wasn’t going to turn down a helpful hand at a shot at billions. “Let’s scoot–Ill take care of the bill.”

“Don’t bother–they don’t charge me here. Some other time,” he smoothly declined,

Fiona was blown away, thinking, ‘Not paying for a meal like this? Man, the rich have it made. And it worked out for me too! “When I’m rolling in it, I’ll hook you up with a fancy meal to say thanks,” she promised.

Sebastian nodded and got up, “Where to? I’ll drop you off.”

60%

“Over at Summerlyn Garden,” Fiona said. The spot was next to a fancy school named Blueden Girls‘ School where was full of rich and smart girls. The school had a history of nearly a hundred years. Did well there, and the girls were golden, becoming the top choices for prospective daughters–in–law among the elite circles. As a result, countless girls and their parents were eager to get a place in the school. It was initially located in Paellan but moved. to Jerraloth a few years ago due to a scandalous incident, and soon it became all the rage among Jerraloth’s high society. Alexa was a student there.

“You thinking of hitting the books there?” Sebastian asked, a bit curious.

Fiona shook her head. “Nah, just got a place nearby.”

Sebastian’s eyebrow popped up a notch. “You bought it? Nice choice.”

Fiona was quick to say, “Still got the mortgage.” Summerlyn Garden was a big deal when it came out. Too bad she was just a kid then. But she’d managed to snag one with some help, and now they were worth a fortune.

Sebastian just grinned and didn’t call her bluff. He handed her his card. “Here’s my number. Holler if you need anything.”

Fiona took the card and asked, out of the blue, “You on WhatsApp, Mr. Quinn?”

That caught Sebastian a bit off guard. He’d heard about it from Luther, his friend, but never really got into it. He mostly carried a simple cell phone that * wasn’t dead after a day. He squinted a bit, “Just shoot me your ID. I look you up.”

Fiona saw him push over a pen and pad, “Write it down!

She almost chuckled. No way he was on WhatsApp.

Sebastian looked puzzled at her reaction.

ona said nothing. She knew the deal–if Sebastian wanted to keep things hush–hush, she played along, no questions asked. She scribbled her number, sit me up with this. And seriously, thanks for everything today. I better head out.” She unfastened her seatbelt, hopped out, gave a little wave, and strutted off to the building

Sebastian watched her go, the ghost of a smile fading from his face

Evan, the driver, did a double–take in the mirror. He shouted in his mind, ‘A smile? Mr. Quinn, smiling? That is news.”

“I’m moving in next door,” Sebastian said all of a sudden.

“Next door to a girl? That isn’t like Mr. Quinn at all. He always keeps his distance, especially from women. But there it is. Should it be…? Yeah, it has to be that. Taking her out for some fancy grub, giving money and a big house? It’s all the first time since I am with him!” Evan almost couldn’t believe his ears. Containing the big grin spreading across his face, Evan replied, You got it, boss.” This was big. His ice–cold boss was finally warming up. And he had to act fast. Nathan’s place was going to be perfect for the future Mrs. Quinn.
