Chapter

Alexa jumped off the couch like she was on fire, pointing right at Fiona. “Fiona, you’re kidding, right? You said you’d ditch this whole ‘gettin‘ hitched” plan and let Mom deal with it. Now you’re flaking on us? How’s Mom gonna smooth things over with Ms. Quinn now? You just wanna make Mom look bad, huh?”

After Alexa’s outburst, Macy was about to blow a gasket. “Look, getting married’s no joke, we follow what the older folks say. You don’t get it? And you think your grandma set this up because she’s all about you? Nope. She jumped the gun, and it’s been eating her up, thinking she’s been holding Nathan back. She’s just too mortified to ask for the engagement token back. It was my idea to call it quits, and your granny’s too. So, you’re giving that token back today, whether you like it or not. Go say you’re sorry to Ms. Quinn this second and hand over the token. If you don’t, you ain’t my kid no more!”

Fiona cackled like she heard the funniest joke. Her eyes sparkled with a cheeky glint. “Hey, wasn’t it you, Mrs. Harrell, who kept saying how awesome Nathan is? Good looking and from a solid family. Heck yeah, I’m head over heels. And I ain’t backing out of any engagement. If you’re so ticked off, get Grandma down here to take the token back!” she smirked all confident. “If it was that easy, you wouldn’t have called me a gazillion times to come back, would ya?”

In recent years, every time Macy met with her mother, Bridget Lopez, she would bring up the topic of marriage, determined to have Alexa replace Fiona and marry into the Quinn family. However, Bridget wouldn’t listen to her at all. Not only did Bridget ignore Macy, but she also accused Macy of being partial and incapable of distinguishing right from wrong, which left Macy no other choice but to make Flona return. Stung by the accusation, Macy flow into a rage. She grabbed the coffee cup in front of her and, rearing, hurled it towards Fiona’s head, “Fiona Harrell!”

Fiona ducked smooth as butter and popped up, arms folded, eyes as cold as ice. “Il call off the wedding–if the price meets my vibe.” A flirty smile popped up as she looked over the peeps starting to freak out. “Buck up 40 million dollars, and tell the whole world I’m the real daughter of the Harrell family.”

Alexa was shooting daggers at Fiona with her eyes, thinking, 40 million dollars? That’s my jackpot. Why should she get any? And spill the beans about her identity? No way! I won’t let folks find out that I, Alexa Harrell, am the one faking it all along!

“Fiona, it’s outrageous for you to embarrass me in front of outsiders like this; I won’t waste my time arguing with you anymore. Charlotte, may I borrow your person for a moment?” Macy called in Charlotte’s bodyguards. “Fiona, do you willingly hand over the token and cancel the engagement, or shall have you seized and searched?”

Charlotte just kicked back and watched their drama unfold.

s ready to throw down. She was in a cruddy

Fiona stretched her neck and wrists, chill as usual. “Good luck trying to catch me,” she taunted. Fiona was n mood, and a fight seemed like just the ticket.

“Grab her! Don’t go easy on her,” Macy ordered, and the bodyguards zeroed in on Fiona. Right at that hot second, a servant busted in, all out of breath, “Ms. Quinn, Mr. Nathan Quinn’s back, and Mr. Sebastian Quinn’s with him.”

Charlotte’s eyebrows knitted together as she got up from her seat, putting the brakes on the chaos. “Stop!”

But Fiona was already on it. “Too slow!” She went Bruce Lee on the nearest bodyguard trying to nab her. This dude was twice her size, but he hollered and his face went all twisted like a pretzel as he hit the deck, sliding straight to Charlotte’s tootsies. Charlotte let out a yelp and bounced up onto the couch.

When Nathan and Sebastian showed up, it looked like a tornado had torn through. Macy and Alexa were standing over some beat–up folks who were moaning and groaning. Fiona was in the middle of all that, holding some guy by the collar and giving his chook a workout with her slaps

The minute Alexa spotted Nathan, the mean look in her eyes just melted and she burst into tears. “Nathan, I’m freaking out here,” she sniffed, shaking like a leaf and crying up a storm. Her scaredy cat act almost had Nathan running over to comfort her. That was, if Sebastian hadn’t been there–Nathan might’ve even given her a hug. But when Nathan’s eyes landed on Fiona, she looked like nothing but trouble. “What the heck do you think you’re doing?!” he snapped.

Fiona just gave Nathan a quick once–over, and then turned her attention to the dude standing behind him. Tall fella, in a plain shirt buttoned all the way

up and wearing a turquoise bracelet. He had this serious but cool vibe, sort of old–school charming. A handsome guy, young but with this vibe like he was lived. Probably late twenties, but with this mature, cool–as–a–cucumber kind of aura–this must be the big–shot Sebastian Quinn that Bridget was always

raving about.

Sebastian, for his part, figured out it was Fiona right away, fussing with the main guard’s collar and smacking him around like she was the boss and he was the troublemaker. Sebastian scanned the room, taking in all the folks laid out flat, and couldn’t help but smirk, commenting in his heart, ‘She seems to have things well in hand.

As soon as Fiona dropped the dude, he just hit the deck. Fiona turned and laughed, all full of herself, “Next time you try to pat me down, send some real pros. These guys are a joke.”

Charlotte and Macy sure didn’t think Fiona could throw down like that. With Fiona rubbing their noses in it, they were boiling mad.

Fiona raised her eyebrows mischievously, her gaze landing on the unflappable Sebastian. “Your arrival is timely, Mr. Quinn.” She dug out a fat envelope from her coat and fluttered it at him, “Got some real interesting stuff here.” Fiona yanked out a bunch of pictures and started handing them out for all to see, and then settled herself on the sofa. “Check these out, everyone–sharing is caring when it comes to juicy gossip.”

Alexa’s face lost all its color as she went through the pictures. There she was with Nathan, eating dinner, hand in hand, cozying up on his shoulder, and- kissing in a car.

Fiona lounged there like some kind of queen, legs crossed. “Two options for you: hand over a chill 40 million dollars, tell the world I’m the real daughter of the Harrell family, or… I’ll splash these sweet pictures and my engagement with Nathan all over Twitter. I’ve even got the headlines ready for your ‘Young lady snags her sis‘ rich fiancé, or ‘Billionaire playboy dumped GF for his girl’s younger sis. It’ll be front–page fire.”
